The truth? The truth is I often feel like a failure. Like a bad mom. A shit wife. The worst girlfriend in the world. Like I am failing everyone around me... But that’s part of what my mental illness does. It eats at me piece by piece until there is nothing left. It whispers into my ear how I will never be “enough”. It eats at my inner peace until it bubbles up and rises as a volcano bubbling to the surface hot and fast in the form of an anxiety attack. It causes mean words and hurt feelings. It. Is. Ugly. And I am thankful for those who stick by me through the ups and downs. I am also Thankful that I know this is what it is as an adult and that I will recover every time and it’s not the end of the world... Yes.. mental illness can be ugly. Talk about that glow up.. 2011- going through a divorce. Lost my home in the flood. Recently had lost 80 pounds.. Still had 80 to lose. Drank heavily. Surrounded myself with shitty people. SHITTY unsupportive people. HATED myself and you can see it.. 2018- supportive people in my life. Rarely drinks. Learned how to have eyebrows. 3 months post vsg.
