It's so crazy because before I had my surgery, I had a sort of "reverse" body dysmorphia if you want to say it. I never realized I was as "big" as I was.

I remember the first time I hated my body. I was four years old. I was at home preparing for my first dance recital. My mom was doing my hair and getting me dressed in a bright purple sequence tutu. I remember looking at myself in the mirror and crying. I remember my mom telling me it was normal to be nervous before performing, that she use to be nervous too. I wasn’t nervous about being on stage or the lights, I hated my body because it felt different than the other girls in the class. I didn’t want to be looked at as weird or people to think something was wrong with me. I was fat. Not obese, not yet at least. But there was a visible difference in my body vs the other girls in the class. I wasn’t stick skinny and short, I was tall and wide. Later in life my mom would tell me that it’s genetic, that all the women in my family are “big-boned” that the other girls and boys will catch up. It’s hard spending your whole life hating yourself. Saying that the only attractive quality is your sense of humor. I made myself the “fat funny friend” because there was nothing else for me to be. I was never an ingenue. I was the comic relief. The only plus sized representation that was “worthy of love” in the media was Tracy Turnblad.
I’ve spent years dieting. I’ve tried counting points and calories and macros. I know it is suppose to work, you’re suppose to lose weight in a deficit. I rarely ever eat outside my deficit… so why does the weight cling to me? I’ve been to doctors and I’ve been tested. I’m not diabetic, I don’t have a thyroid issue, I don’t have PCOS. So what’s wrong with me??
I’ve made the decision to do weight loss surgery. I don’t want to live like this anymore. And I know I will be changing everything in my life. I’ll have to count calories still and work out more consistently. I can do it. I’m mostly worried about the stigma surrounding it. It’s hard telling people that you’re doing this. People see it as weak like I’m not capable of doing it myself because I’m lazy. I’ve tried and tried everything. I’ve run out of options.

Today is august 17th. I had my endoscopy yesterday and let me tell you it was brutal. The whole time i was under the impression i was going to be sedated mad wouldn’t remember a thing. Nope. So i get checked in, changed into a gown, and then they put an iv in my right arm. After a bit they take me into the room where the procedure is done, and I’m still thinking hmm I’m not asleep yet. Like when i say i was under the impression it’s because EVERYONE told me i was going to get the best sleep ever, and that i wouldn’t remember a thing, one of the docs even told me i was gonna squeeze her hand until i fell asleep. NOPE so they put this thing in my mouth to protect my teeth, and then they gave me oxygen. I’m like ok….. and then they asked me to move up, they turned me on my left side and i was still like why aren’t i asleep yet. My eyes were closed at this point and all of a sudden i felt a scratching pain in my throat so i panicked and started moving around. The nurses had to hold me down and try and keep me calm. That wasn’t working. I’m my head i was screaming. Finally after ten minute it was all done and they wheeled me out. I kept nodding off and when i would wake up they would check on me. Turns out while moving around in a panic i pulled on my iv where my arm is sore and swollen now. And i feel like i was punched in the throat. So if you get this done emphasize your want to be put under because honestly it was a nightmare. And i hope i never have to do it again

Just because one may be smaller than another doesn't mean we don't all struggle. Some may assume this person is grabbing their fat when in some cases it may be an excessive amount of excessive skin. Bariatric surgery and/or huge amounts of weight loss can be a bitch. But you must remember that we aren't these bodies we live in. We are more than that. We are beautiful/handsome regardless of our rolls, dimples and extra skin. Remember that ... and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Sport that body, you worked hard for it 🤜🤛 #bariatricsurgery #bariatricbabes #bariatricsleeve #vsgsurgery #sleeved #vsgcommunity #weightloss #weight #excessiveskin #extraskin #weightlossproblems #july https://www.instagram.com/p/CRTrntMJP5X/?utm_medium=tumblr
