Maybe one reason time seems to speed up in adult life is because when your full time job leaves you roughly 5 hours of free time a day plus two days off a week your life turns into a sort of monotony that makes the days blend together and creative pursuits move in slow motion as you can only get to them when other your commitments are done.

When you look back and think damn 2019 wasn’t that long ago where did the time go? Job. Your Job took it.

so why is incest treated like a joke in a manner that most people would hesitate to treat other forms of sexual abuse? like, the vast majority of people in progressive spaces are inclined to agree that rape jokes are bad. unless ☝️ it’s this specific kind of rape that only happens to Us, because we are apparently a special category of people (who probably deserved it or brought it upon ourselves or secretly wanted it anyway), then it’s fine.

like, why is an “incest survivor” a kind of sexual assault victim that you’re not only allowed, but almost encouraged to treat like a punchline, without the same degree of guilt and shameful connotation that comes with joking about other kinds of sexual abuse? it’s everywhere. once you start seeing it, you never really stop.

the problem marxists have on disability is that they aren't reading marxist thought on disability and just kind of winging it. marta russell already laid out the political economy of disability in the global north in the 90s and global south scholars have their own (marxist) schools of thought on disability and have iterated on global north marxist disability analyses. disabled people are workers, most often. and handicapitalism (russell's term) has also turned disabled people into commodities. it's impossible to understand modern politics without engaging with these two realities.
