i don’t have it in me to be real life upset or anything whenever this show doesn’t deliver, not anymore, and it’s not that i hate it now or that i don’t care (of course i care). tbh i’m just trying to enjoy 911 for what it is, and what 911 is now is a different tv show than it used to be a couple of years ago. and like, okay, that happens. there’s still a lot of joy to find in it. but at the same time it’s SO frustrating to see them almost Get There time and time again. and yeah a big part of this is just me blindly hoping for canon buddie (lol). but it also annoys me, romantic buddie or not, how they’re so insistent on shooting their own beautiful build-up in the foot. i’m tired of hearing myself say some version of “surely we can all see where this is going” only for it to go absolutely nowhere. again and again. at some point it really is just bad writing!!! like. what’s the point of almost killing one of your main characters when it means absolutely nothing and goes absolutely nowhere. of course it could have an impact later on but are we really hoping for that when their recent track record is giving “we did a whole bunch of visual callbacks to past emergencies and ndes for no other reason than shits and giggles”. right now 911 is a show where things happen all the time but none of them actually truly matter because there’s kind of… no real story? we’re getting episodes that all exist in a vacuum of their separate universes. so yeah, canon romantic buddie is objectively the only logical and the only satisfying direction to follow narratively but why would they do that if we’re not really committing to anything? we can milk it for the next ten seasons and some of it will be beautiful and so in character and fun to watch but then we’re going to get three episodes where the main characters go through hell for absolutely no reason, and we’re going to spend half an hour following a captivating story of some random guy but it concludes in nothing, and then we’re going to get two episodes packed of absolutely gorgeous character growth that highlights the importance of a certain relationship, and then another two episodes later one of them won’t even move an eyebrow when the other guy is bleeding out to death, and then someone’s going to enter a wormhole that transports them to the mesozoic era because why not. why not if nothing ever has to have an impact on anything. why not. idk it used to be so fun when television had something to say and stories actually led somewhere other than into just another season of whatever

i think it's fine to say "it's just a tv show" to yourself if you want to have a more chill relationship with the show and don't really care to analyze it but it's not okay to say "it's just a tv show" to other people when they are voicing their very real and valid complaints and criticisms

I deadass think steve rogers ending was character assassination and conservative rhetoric (send the progressive man back to the decade epitomes with traditional values for a white picket fence life) but it was also just cruel to steve and bucky. “oh ur just mad ur ship didn’t go canon” no im mad the friendship that was the most important thing in both of their lives was tossed aside and the audience was gaslit into believing it didn’t matter despite three films proving otherwise. steve dropped the shield twice for bucky and would have died rather than live in a world where bucky didn’t remember him. bucky broke thru 70 years of brainwashing at the sound of steve’s voice. their catchphrase was essentially “til death do we part”. the fuck
