It's one of my biggest woes that some of my favorite characters ever created are stuck in hundreds upon hundreds of hours of livestreamed Minecraft gameplay. And to comprehend them you must hook yourself up to a Suspension Of Disbelief IV drip and stay up all night with a corkboard. And all of that only applies if it's not lost media at this point. Which it very well could be. But also that's the only way to truly understand them, and it's the only format they could've been created in. And once you make the effort, you will reach enlightenment. But only once you jump through all the hoops. And it's all objectively fascinating in a sort of media phenomenon kinda way, but it's also hell on earth for someone who just wants to share their interests and make people understand.

like okay we've very intentionally quarantined off all mcyt posting to another blog bc we know it annoys people but at some point i think there should maybe be a conversation around how people treat nascent artistic mediums as particularly foul/offensive/annoying/unworthy of serious analysis and how as a result the artistic capability of those mediums is set back by years while a lot of founding "texts" from these mediums start getting lost and overlooked. comics is wrestling is video games is ingame improv. you don't have to like a particular medium but the barest modicum of respect would really help to make fandom around it less annoying.

also while we're poking the bear -- no, there are not "more groomers" in MCYT creator spaces specifically. there's the same proportion of actually secretly horrible people as there are in any other entertainment industry. the difference is that more of them get caught, because most MCYTers do not have PR teams or fully established industries to cover up and be complicit with their shit and instead exist in a space that actively incentivizes "rightfully" tearing each other down in order to compete for attention.
