This is sadly just a side blog so I’m following mutuals back with my main (its-inimeitiel) which is inactive and probably full of embarrassing old stuff.

I’m a little inactive due to work rn but I’ll be back with posting soon.

1. I recognized the art style as soon as I picked it up from the shelf, before I even saw the names on the cover and that got me very excited. People from The Internet, found in my local bookstore?? Wild.

2. It's gorgeous, it's so good, it's a beautiful story wrapped in beautiful artwork and it greatly inspires me to make my own first comic - thank you both for making it.

3. This is the third time in a row that I picked up a graphic novel for the gorgeous art and it ended up containing a story about transness - which I'm sure says nothing about me or my upcoming appointment at the gender clinic 😂❤️

1. Amazing ahaha. I think of myself as an internet artist because that’s honestly like the background of my whole generation of peers but surprisingly enough I’ve discovered I am also People from the Bookstore to some that find my accounts after buying my books ahaha

Ehhh I don’t think I will (in the foreseeable future at least) because idk, I feel like dtiys where something that worked back then but wouldn’t in the internet art community of today.

I wanted to ask, if you don’t mind, what format do you use for your panelings? I have CSP and the last time I tried it for a job it was a mess because I don’t really understand the sizes for comics ans it was so heavy.

I’m so afraid to start over at 26 even with experience in arts but your work is so passionate that it inspires me to try and do my own thing too.

Thank you so much for your kind words. It’s always nice to hear people understanding what they really want to do with their art. It’s literally the only art advice I believe fully: do what makes you feel comfortable. It doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t challenge yourself and your skills, just not forcing yourself into something that’s not “yours” and gives you more headaches than satisfaction.

Do you have any advice for drawing things you’ve never seen before? For example, I live in a tiny city island and unless I leave the country I’ll never be able to experience a forest, or fields, meadows or animals in nature… but I really want to be able to depict them in my art and tells stories… so I’m really curious about your process! My process with colouring is actually quite simple: a layer for flats, one for shadow and one for light. What changes is the colours of light and shadow that are mostly chosen by instinct.

I can recommend two books about colouring that might be helpful to understand better because there’s really a lot to say and I don’t think I’m the best at explaining:

Elia is actually also my oc, I share him with @ivanhoenineteenninetyfour and we created his story together.

Elia tried in many occasions to get rid of the looming darkness following him all his life, maybe this time he will succeed.

Yes, I was pretty sure I wanted to be an animator.

So sure that while I was finishing high school I was also trying to get ready to go study in Canada, but for a number of reasons (mostly bureaucracy and the fact that I’d have a gap year and didn’t want to) I decided to try comics at least for a year. I liked it more than expected, learnt more and more about the animation field and understood that maybe it was better like that for me. So stayed in comic school until the end of the whole course and luckily had a cartoonist job before it ended.

I contemplated the concept art career but understood I could actually do the kind of concept art I was interested in without a degree (more stylised character design and generally stuff that doesn’t require strong digital painting skills). Glad this became a side job because friends who are in it have it worse with ai than any kind of artist I know and it really sucks. Also contemplated illustration while I was still in school but luckily comics gave me enough skills to be able to work in that field without properly studying for it. I’m not the best but it’s enough for cover art jobs.

All in all I think visual art is kind of “intersectional” and the rims of each field are blurred and fused to the rims of the other…don’t know if that makes sense.
