the best part of the dsmp separating cs and ccs was we could criticize the actions of characters without having it reflect on the content creators, creating a unique type of genre defining minecraft roleplay community. the worst part of the dsmp separating cs and ccs was we couldn't criticize the writing of the characters through the lens of their content creators, because of the previously established rules, creating a unique type of genre specific media illiteracy
nobody was doing it like the dsmp man. if i talked about the clear child abuse and grooming themes within discduo's storyline I'd get confused people asking if dreamwastaken did that in real life, and all posts discussing heavier topics required c! or cc! distinctions in front of them. we had to separate them to stop people from saying we're calling the real people victims or abusers. if i talked about the failure of c!techno as a proper anarchist character probably stemming from cc!techno's misinterpretation of the belief system id get death threats. you gotta separate the characters from the creators man! they're seperate entities entirely that could never influence each other!!! like entirely genre specific type of thinking that I've never encountered before it's amazing. and i can see it spread to other indie story projects online. you can never imply that the author is bad for something the character did, obviously, but you can of course never say that the character did something because the author might've made them. it's so strange Literally NOBODY DOES IT LIKE THE DSMP

Ok I’m not normally one to weigh in on this fandom, and certainly not it’s “discourse” but AvidMc coming out is such a beautiful thing to see and I feel frustrated by the way some people are talking to and about Avid.
It truly feels like this what I keep seeing:
Avid- Hey I’m feeling really objectified and I feel like the way people are responding to my opinions feels like it’s in bad faith. Given my recent coming out this feels, maybe like it’s related to transmisogyny?
Way too many people in response- Wow when did Avid become such a *insert pejorative used for women*?! It’s really #problematic and weird, I suddenly don’t like Avid as much now.
Like y’all, please, I am begging you, be more normal to transfem creators. This timing does not feel like a coincidence and I think we (as a fandom) really need to be more aware of how our biases impact the way we see and interact with creators. Avid has been really vulnerable in how much Avid is sharing with us. We owe Avid basic respect (including respect of boundaries) in return.

mcyt is such a funny fandom because some of you genuinely don't think about the characters and it's crazy
mcyt fans will be like yeah my favorite ship is the smart, nerdy twink and the big friendly hunk and all the other characters are supporting roles haha. and then you look at the characters and it's a genuinely intriguing look at manipulation and guilt and how it can lead people to dark, desperate places. and also the hunk is literally physically disabled but no one wants to talk about that because it's hard to draw yaoi fanart that incorporates a wheelchair
