Park Jimin X Jeon Jungkook
lyric fic | one shot | 1,670 words
“Come on Jimin-Hyung! Hurry up!”
Jimin’s passenger door almost flung off the hinges with Junkook’s excitement to get down to the beach before he would. He had barely even stopped the car before Jeon had jumped out and started heading for the water. Jimin softly smiled to himself as he took his time getting out his car, this was the first day off in months they had been able to have together, he wasn’t about to rush this time together for anything. Making his way to the trunk of the car he noticed that Jungkook had already grabbed swimming googles from the bag he had packed earlier that day. Guess he had time for that though.
Jimin turned to look and sure enough he was already stripped of his shirt, which had been long tossed over his shoulder halfway during his run to get to the beach, and was face first in the water. The water wasn’t even all that clear today, so Jimin had no idea what could’ve captured his attention so quickly. He guessed a fish of some kind before he turned his focus back on hauling the rest of the items, they had brought a lot to make the day of it without having to leave and get something else. Maybe a bit too much though, Jimin thought to himself. Jimin grabbed the bag first hauling it on his shoulder, the two chairs next tossing those on his other shoulder and pulling out the cooler finally, shutting the trunk before making his way down to where Jungkook was still swimming.
Finding a spot, he deemed relaxing enough, he tossed the chairs on the ground before laying the beach bag next to the cooler. As he finished setting their little station up, he felt a shadow cross his vision, but as Jimin was turning to see what had covered the sun from him, tiny water droplets began descending on his head.
Water falling off your skin
Pulling a hand to his forehead to shield the glare of the sun and the water now falling on him, he looked up to face Jungkook, who had left the water and now had his goggles pushed up messily into his hair. Jimin couldn’t help but notice how he was now standing towering over Jimin’s chair dripping water from his hair down his neck, before dancing down his chest and falling onto the golden sand below their feet.
He gulped a little before clearing his throat and speaking, “Did you need something, Jeon?”
A small smirk pulled at his features before speaking slowly, “You’re sitting on my towel.”
Jimin looked down quickly before an embarrassed flush crossed his face and he jumped up handing him his towel. “Oh, that’s my bad!”
He gave a small chuckle before turning to dry off with the towel, “That’s alright Hyung.”
Jimin’s fingers twitched at his side after sitting back down and could feel his heart in his throat still, he was never going to be able to make it through this day together acting normal. He needed to just tell Jungkook, but they had known each other so long, he didn’t want to accidentally ruin things with his feelings. He turned away from watching him and moved to pull the sunscreen they had packed out of the beach bag.
“You didn’t even put on sunscreen before you jumped in did you?” Jimin questioned but he already knew the answer before he asked.
Jungkook shook his head with a wide grin, making Jimin sigh in turn. “You’re hopeless.”
“Who needs hope, when I’ve got you to remind me to put it on.” He replies with a small shrug, like what he said didn’t just send tingles down Jimin’s spine.
Before he can think of a response Jungkook is standing again and gently pulling the sunscreen tube from his hands and wordlessly tugging on Jimin’s arm. Jimin takes the hint and stands before pulling his shirt off and turning his back to Jungkook, releasing a shaky breath as he hears the sunscreen cap pop open.
I could spend a lifetime watching you
Jimin felt like his heart was trying to claw out of his chest the moment Jungkook’s fingers brushed his back. He was desperately trying to relax his body and not react to the touch he had been craving for who knows how long. He couldn’t help but lean back into his touch though, his hands were touching him so gently he felt like he was going to dissolve into the sand the minute the touch was gone. He heard a small laugh leave Jungkook, as if he was enjoying the effect he had on Jimin.
He heard the sunscreen cap close, and he had to hold back a sigh of disappointment, the moment being over far sooner than he would’ve liked. His eyes fluttered open again and he turned to meet Jungkook’s heavy gaze, until realizing he was already offering the bottle back to him. He hesitated a moment before accepting the bottle and watching Jungkook turn around just as he had before. He swore he could have almost seen a blush on Jeon’s face before he had turned, but he must have been imagining things.
He couldn’t hold back his sound this time, as he had a sharp intake of breath seeing Jungkook’s back in the golden sunlight. Of course, he had seen him shirtless before in changing rooms or sometimes even on stage, but this was an entirely different thing. As if someone had asked Jimin to describe the perfect person and then produced this in turn, it was too good to be true in his eyes. He watched Jungkook’s back twitch at the sound and proceeded to uncap the tube and gathering a good size portion of sunscreen on his hands. The moment his hands touched his back he could feel the soft skin contrasting every ripple of his muscle's underneath. He never wanted this image to end, his hands against Jeon’s pale skin, hearing the soft sighs from him with every pass of his hands he couldn’t imagine a prettier thing.
This is how it all begins
Jimin watched Jungkook head back out into the water, while he hung back laid out on his chair with his arms thrown above his head, taking the sun in. He took in how his arms moved through each stroke; how strong he looked when he was in his element. He shook his head a little, trying to clear the thoughts away but he couldn’t, all he could think about was him. He stood and slowly made his way over to the water getting closer to Jungkook, like a pirate being entranced by an alluring siren. Only Jimin did not fear his siren like the pirates did, no he only feared the feelings that were filling up his head with no escape. He gasped as the cold water finally brushed his feet and watched how the waves crashed and receded against himself for a moment.
The push and pull reminding him of the man he was there with just swimming a few feet away now. How they always feel so close to resolving the tugging in his heart before pulling away just as quickly as it had arrived. Not today, he decided. He ignored the pleas of his own mind urging him to pull back, push another time, don’t ruin it. He waded further into the water, pushing and pushing, until he realized he was just an arm's length away now.
I just wanna dive, I just wanna dive
He held his breath when Jungkook meet his eyes again, both treading water lightly next to each other; what Jimin has felt like they’ve been doing since they’ve known each other. Just treading water, never fully diving in, both too scared to let go. He didn’t want to do that anymore, he couldn’t, he had to fully dive.
He pushed closer into Jungkook’s space and gently pulled Jeon’s hand into his, “What are you doing?”
Jimin could feel their legs start to tangle together under the water, as if they had minds of their own.
“Swimming.” Jimin breathed out quietly, “Is that okay?”
He watched Jungkook’s throat bob for a second before nodding, carefully watching Jimin’s other hand coming up to rest above his heart.
“Your heart is racing awfully fast, Jeon.”
“Well, you’re awfully close, Hyung.” His voice was becoming breathless and Jimin knew they were teetering on the point of no return.
“What if I want to be this close all the time?” He watched Jeon’s eyes flick back and forth quickly like he was searching for a joke in that question.
“...I wouldn’t mind that.”
“No?” Jimin felt a grin spread across his face as he watched the blush he swore he saw earlier make another appearance in full force on Jungkook.
“No.” Jeon’s voice gaining back his firmness.
Jimin leaned in close to his ear as if to tell a secret in a busy hallway, “and what if I wanted to be even closer than that?”
He watched his eyes widen a moment and finally felt Jungkook's hands stir at that question, his right coming to hold Jimin closer on his waist. The other traveling up to behind Jimin’s neck twisting into his blonde locks, grabbing to pull his face back and meet his eyes.
“Yes.” Jimin replied simply, wrapping his arms behind his neck.
Jimin felt his world stopping every second that passed by, he had said it, he really said it. He couldn’t stop himself from the gasp that left his lips as he felt Jungkook pull him to meet their lips. He responded instantly kissing him back with the same intensity that he brought. Their lips and teeth clashing a bit in a mix of awkward, hurried, emotional kisses. Both feeling as they can’t get enough of the other, drinking in the moment as much as possible.
