It’s hard to pinpoint what the fuck is wrong with those boys. That doesn't mean people can't see it.
The big one is always dressed ten years too old, in clothes that are somehow too small. The little one can’t seem to wear a shirt that doesn’t reach past his hands. Their clothes never hang right off of them. Like they weren’t selected from a store, but grabbed quickly from someone else’s drawer.
Where their clothes aren’t ripped, there’s shitty stitching in their place. The younger ones’ seams are much nicer than the olders'. Like more time and care was put into his wardrobe. Their mother must have had a favorite. Not that anyone’s ever met her. Or the boys’ father. The older brother came to the younger ones' parent-teacher meetings.
Eventually people in the podunk town they are staying in learn their names. The older and bigger one is Dean. The younger and smaller one is Sam. Their normal names didn’t match whatever weird ass nonsense those two had going on.
Each of the boys is always reading something strange. Dean carries shooting magazines rolled up in his back pocket. There’s a pen stuck in there too. He makes notes in a gun magazine. The fuck kind of a teenager does that? Sam’s got his own little book. Leather bound journal he guards like it's a little girl’s diary. He’s always making notes in it too. Once Finn Michaels ripped it out of Sam’s hand to finally look inside. He didn’t know what the Hell a shifter was and he knew vampires weren’t real, but Sam’s eerie drawings and scrawled writing could convince him of anything.
They were always beat up from something. Never ending scrapes and scratches and bruises. The moment one of them healed five more of them would pop up. Some people thought it was their dad. From the few snippets the boys ever dropped about him he didn’t sound like a nice man. They had matching scars running up their palms. One weekend Dean came back to school with the cut reopened and stitched up. Tye Noel said it looked like it hurt. Dean said he was strong enough to handle it. He asked where it was from. Dean said it was from a grizzly bear. The closest grizzly habitat was three states away.
Sam always looks a little out of place. He’s a little too quiet and a little too tall for his age, a head and a half over the rest of his seventh grade class. Paired with his lingering stares and mumbled words, Sam looks like a proper freak. And shit, man, the clothes really don’t help. Dressed like he could be a child of the damn corn. He’s even got blood stains on the cuffs of his jeans. Someone, probably his mother, tried to get them out with bleach. But if you notice the dark red blots, you’ll know exactly what you’re looking at.
Dean keeps an old switchblade tucked into his back pocket. Definitely banned in the school’s hand book, but no one gave a shit. A few weeks ago he was showing it off to Brandy Mae Stevens at lunch. Doing the teenage boy version of peacocking. Flips and twirls and showing just how precise the sharp edge can be. Brandy Mae says it’s the prettiest knife she’s ever seen. Dean says that’s because it’s made of pure silver. When Brandy Mae asks why, Dean switches the subject and starts complimenting her tight jeans.
Sam’s got something silver of his own. A little rosary he keeps tucked into his jacket. Kinda like he’s trying to hide it. Jackie Penny swears up and down that she saw him praying once. That wouldn’t be such a strange claim if everyone at school hadn’t seen the little pentagram looking thingy Sam had drawn in front of the classroom door. He said it was for protection, but most kids thought he was a devil worshiper. If he’s praying to Lucifer, he shouldn’t need something with Jesus Christ all over it.
If only to make up for Sam’s silence Dean can’t seem to shut the fuck up. If he isn’t talking, he’s whistling. If he’s not whistling, he’s humming. And if he’s not humming, he’s moving or tapping or drumming in a way. Like he’s trying to fill up space. His clothes are the ones always too big. He tries to fill those too. His jacket, his flannels, his jeans. Why are these boys always wearing that shit anyway? It could be 90 degrees out and they would still be covered head to toe.
The thing most people always notice first is how close they are. Always touching. Always standing right next to each other. Always whispering between themselves. Sure, yeah, siblings are affectionate, but they didn’t know where to stop. If Sam and Dean were in the same room, their hands were on each other. Whether it was brushing shoulders or knees or Dean’s hand on Sam’s arm or thigh. Adults would tell them to cut it out and Sam will try and hide how he still leans into Dean’s side. The other kids noticed too. Sam gets teased for needing his big brother like a little girl. Dean gets side eyes from the older students for touching someone young like that. Touching his brother like that.
Old ladies think it’s sweet. Old men think they need to grow up and separate. If people ask, Dean will make a joke about how ever big his Sammy gets, he’ll always be his baby brother. Sam will dodge the question.
The boys leave town two days after the school year ends. Almost like their stay was a contract. People will quickly forget their names and the more intricate details about them. Still, a decade down the road, people in that little town will talk. They’ll talk about those strange brothers and how the only place they seemed to fit in, was in each other’s arms.

I love supernatural but I wish they had gone down the biblical route rather than creating their own mythology and all this cosmic drama. In early seasons you almost expect something like this, with Sam admitting he prays and also taking Dean to get healed by a pastor and what not, you almost EXPECT this. I know it isn't JUST Christianity, after all they fight monsters and demons from all sorts of religions, mythology and cultures, but I think if they had gone down the Christian biblical route and kept that season 1, darker and grittier atmosphere it would've been SO MUCH better. I would KILL for Supernatural with biblically accurate God and angels and just accurately depicted heaven and hell, it'd be so crazy.
Just been thinking about it cause I'm watching season 1 rn and I can't believe that show went from this to that💔
season 6b was actually fine but maybe let thiam get a better dynamic, yk?
when theo returned in 6b it was as if 6a hadn’t happened to theo and liam.
because in the end of season 6a, the last time we see thiam is when theo saves liam and uses himself as bait and when liam decides to steal a horse to go into the hunt, theo goes "are you kidding? i went through all this to keep YOU from being taken!!"
and then we never see thiam again until season 6b.
they are in the sheriff's station and theo was also there and the hunters had surrounded them.
and when theo walks in and faces the pack, liam immediately steps forward and he is FURIOUS and he is literally ready to attack theo.
theo, who had risked his own life to save liam's the last time liam saw him.
like, what???
i can buy liam not trusting theo completely yet.
liam isn’t naive. theo betrayed them before. trust takes time.
but what i expected after 6a was something more nuanced.
something like:
liam is wary, not hostile.
or if he’s angry, let it be for an emotionally interesting reason.
like:
“you disappeared.”
“you almost got yourself killed.”
instead the show kind of presses the reset button.
this kind of scene would be nice;
someone suggests using theo as bait again.
liam immediately says “no.”
everyone looks at him.
“no?”
“no. we’ll find another way.”
that would’ve been such a nice mirror to theo’s sacrifice in 6a.
i just needed some acknowledgement that 6a happened.
being the bait scene was historical AND highly significant for thiam fandom BUT it took thiam to mostly nowhere in my opinion actually
just got reminded about liam and his maybe limited ability around pain taking, ie only able to take pain when he’s kissing someone
so just imagine liam’s the first one arrive to where theo’s being held captive by hunters or sth. theo’s bleeding out from all the torture and struggle to heal because of the overwhelming pain. so ofc liam doesn’t hesitate to dive in and plant a big smooch on theo’s lips, start draining pain, right?
except that theo’s delirious with blood loss at this point and just start kissing liam back. liam is trying to focus on pain taking but theo’s mouth is doing all sort of things and liam has to pull back momentarily because he’s overwhelmed and out of breaths. but the instant he backed off theo’s groaning from the pain so he just mutters “sorry” and dive back in, but theo just starts kissing him again.
rinse and repeat until the rest of the pack catch up with liam and had to pry him from theo’s hands. malia or hayden get in there and take theo’s pain away normal style. meanwhile, scott is giving a flushing liam lectures about the importance of practicing ur werewolf skills (and stop traumatizing ur packmates with excessive pda)

Anyone know of any good character study fics or posts of Sam and Deans relationship with each other? Specifically how yeah they’re codependent on one another, but the lengths they’d go to for the other one. Like they’re both so extreme, but like in opposite ways almost and I really want to read/learn more about that. It fascinates me in a sad sort of fated way.
Like Sam would sacrifice anyone and anything to protect Dean, but Dean would sacrifice himself for Sam?

Thinking about 8x8 where Sam tells Amelia’s dad that his brother used to open beer bottles with his ring the same way. After Dean was truly and finally gone, Sam probably kept remembering him in little stuff like that.
A foam cowboy hat on rack in an aisle of an unsuspecting Texas gas station. A faded billboard off the highway that reads, “Best Pie in America, Exit 89!” The kid pushing a Scooby Doo plushie down the slide at the park. The lilting twang of “Stairway to Heaven” pooling into the alleyway from a bar.
There’s a certain jangle to someone pulling their keys out of their pocket in a parking lot and—for a second—it sounds just like Baby’s. If Sam closes his eyes, maybe it’s his big brother. Maybe he’ll toss Sammy a Snickers bar and tell him they can switch out at the state line.
You think Sam ever tucks himself into the passenger seat of the Impala and pretends he can feel it rocking, imagines Dean is humming Zeppelin down I-90? Bet he falls asleep like that, cupped in memory’s palm.

The thing about Sam is that he’s a nice young man, and a cannibal, and a teachers pet, and he has an off-and-on-relationship with reality, and he wants soooo badly not to scare people, and his moral compass goes out the window the second his brother is in danger, and he’s better/worse than his family but fundamentally he’s not the same as them, and he’s everything/nothing like his father, and religious, and he shoots God, and also he’s scared of clowns <3
