The music in tvl sucked and ik in universe the characters recognize that it’s ‘mid’ but like. Isn’t it kind of insulting to have lestat, a performer and musician all his life, front a band that just sucks ass? Daniel’s comment—something to the effect of why would you join a rock band in the 2020s when its not a popular genre anymore? well in the book—in the 80s—rock/metal was the hot thing (just look at how many hair bands there were). It was an exciting new style of music for him! But since it is the 2020s now why /would/ he form a rock band? Well tge other reason in the book is that the band were goth freaks who were fans of vampires to begin with—they’d read iwtv already. They wore full goth face to band practice. They were a perfect fit. Like i get that it would have been harder to sell itunes mp3s of goth rock or heavy/symphonic metal but. Would it tho?
