Acoustic hearing
The English word to hear stems from the same root as acoustic. They don’t share any sound, so how can they be related? To hear was inherited from Proto-Germanic, while acoustic was borrowed from Ancient Greek. These languages have a common ancestor, but their sounds developed very differently.
