yes, our government officials are pretty misled as to where the people’s wants lie, but that’s only thanks to the fact that with the majority of the state’s districts are red (most of which are faaaaaar less densely populated than cities like houston and dallas). the larger metropolitans (four of which are in america’s top 11 most populated cities) are just as blue as other liberal cities like portland and new york city. and just because a county is red doesn’t mean most of the city or area’s citizens are conservative, there’s also such a thing as gerrymandering. 

i know texas is known for our crazy conservative constituants, but as you’re all saying FUCK YEAH WOMEN i’m left wondering why you still see us as these crazies? all i see so far are a bunch of people truly fighting against the shitty system we call our government… which is more than a lot of states can say for themselves, and i think that in itself makes texas pretty fucking awesome. 

You know who that is?

That’s fucking Senator Wendy Davis (D-TX), who is currently in the middle of filibustering a bill that would effectively close down most abortion clinics in the state of Texas.

The only way to block the bill would be to stall it, and the only way to stall it is to filibuster it. 

Which means my girl Wendy has to speak non-stop. Without pausing to eat or go to the bathroom, or leaning on anything. She started at 11:18am CDT today and must go until midnight.

That’s about 13 hours in total.
