Here's an idea for keeping track of a complex weaving pattern.
The pattern shown here is Double Diamond II from Marguerite Porter Davison's A Handweaver's Pattern Book (Revised Edition).
Looks pretty straightforward, right? 1 2 3 2 1, 4 3 2 1, 4 3 2 3 4, 1 2 3 4. But it isn't! Add in tabby weave before or after every pick and each numbered pick is done twice. So that first section is actually : a1b1a2b2a3b3a2b2a1b1. So, including tabby, it is a 72 pick repeat. AND a 44 count threading repeat on the warp. That's probably going to be a challenge for me to keep up with. So?

The bottom row is the threading pattern (the isolated 1 is the center), and then the pattern is the strings in order from 0, 00, 000, 0000, reading left to right. This was made for use with a direct tie up. # is tabby A (shafts 1 and 3) and 🖤 is tabby B (shafts 2 and 4).
Depending on how I attach/hang them up, the idea is that I can slide beads over as I do them or clip something onto the string where I am in the pattern, so even if i walk away, I can come back and not have any questions on where I was. They are currently separated into sections for ease of viewing, but the only knots on these threads are on the ends to keep them from falling off the string.
