Final rug ended up approximately 42" x 56".

If you or someone you know is thinking about getting into rug hooking, my best piece of advice would be, don't! This took me TEN MONTHS, and between material and labor costs, is easily top 3 most expensive things I own. But even so, I love how it came out, and the cats like it, too, so😌 all's well that ends well, I guess.

#artists on tumblr #rug hooking #fiber art #pheW #can now post these because they've finally been delivered hehe ^^#had a lot of fun making these #the horse also made me try out working with brighter colors #order of making is uhhh frogs otter unicorn/pegasus tarantula and then chicken #got to mess around using fabric/some other interesting yarns like the sparkly one for the spider #and the fur yarn for the horse mane/tail #the otter border (not binding) was a stretchy fabric and my god because it was so stretchy #I used up maybe...hm 2/3? of the fabric I had (which is good) but it's funny just because I didn't realize how much it would take to fill u #chicken was trying out the like flat graphic shape/also using mainly one yarn?#ooh! :0 also used one of the yarns I spun for the chicken and was very pleased with how it came out haha #hands itchy to rug hook more hahshjs #I think I struggled the most with the otter + frogs haha in terms of backtracking/restarting/art anxiety whatnots #oH also tried out a weird shape binding with the tarantula; that was pretty interesting haha

hello salamispots! you are one of my favorite artists in the whole wide world. I saw your pet rug hooking work and I am so charmed. I want one… do you have an estimate of how much these would cost?

hiiii and awwh thank you very much :'D here's a very rough guide (I will say I'm honestly still adjusting prices as I go haha)

9x9" and 10x10" respectively, these would be $100 flat (this one for sure won't change)

otter is 13 x 20" (can't find the other measurements right now but they're a little smaller); would price these around $200-300 (this one also won't change hmm okay if anything the size would be smaller than 13x 20 for this price range)

....I honestly don't remember hte size of these at the moment so I'll fix this when I go back home in may >:'D alright these are about 17"x20", probably around $350-400? (this range/size and anything above this will probably increase price wise in the future)

21 x 15.5" and 20x20"; would price these at around $450+ mainly for background elements and size (cat is 450 also because it was turned into a pillowcase +extra materials)
