I tried spinning boucle yarn for the first time and while it is technically boucle yarn, the proportions are....a little bit off.

here is a gorgeous handspun boucle made by DragonThistleFibers on etsy:

....and then here is the very funny/extreme example of boucle I made >:'D

will see if I can even rug hook with it but if it's too bulky I can always deconstruct it a little

edit: I showed my older sister who knows what boucle looks like and it made her cackle hshshjs and we both agreed would be nice to keep because of how ridiculous it is (maybe hang as a garland? decoration?)

boucle attempt number 2! size wise wayyy better (plys could still be even thinner honestly) but I'm a little annoyed because the flip flop twist didn't click in my brain this time till I was almost done with plying haha (something about how I spaced out the initial twists on the ply; there's portions of the yarn that looks more like a normal twist ply rather than the boucle loop ply)

various sketchbook things from the past 3ish weeks

#artists on tumblr #sketchbook stuff #purely personals #happened to get a lot of yarn this trip hsdhhd #went to a very cool thrifted art supply store and the amount/quality of yarn I got for 80 bucks was a fuckin steal #and it was super nice because most of the yarn was maybe like a fist-sized ball and not a full skein?#not to mention some nice fabric scraps as well #and then a friend's friend had a moving sale and I basically got a bunch of sari yarn for free :'D #and then when I came home coincidentally my older sister had given me some yarn as well lmao #went to gallery nucleus and saw the httyd exhibit #helped my friend move some stuff #went to a cult leader's art museum (by accident)#watched my friend play pokopia haha #tried to unsuccessfully draw a friend's profile face several times on that one page hAHA

gift rugs for friends I've slowly made over the past 2 years; they're approximately about 20" x 17"

#artists on tumblr #rug hooking #fiber art #pheW #can now post these because they've finally been delivered hehe ^^#had a lot of fun making these #the horse also made me try out working with brighter colors #order of making is uhhh frogs otter unicorn/pegasus tarantula and then chicken #got to mess around using fabric/some other interesting yarns like the sparkly one for the spider #and the fur yarn for the horse mane/tail #the otter border (not binding) was a stretchy fabric and my god because it was so stretchy #I used up maybe...hm 2/3? of the fabric I had (which is good) but it's funny just because I didn't realize how much it would take to fill u #chicken was trying out the like flat graphic shape/also using mainly one yarn?#ooh! :0 also used one of the yarns I spun for the chicken and was very pleased with how it came out haha #hands itchy to rug hook more hahshjs #I think I struggled the most with the otter + frogs haha in terms of backtracking/restarting/art anxiety whatnots #oH also tried out a weird shape binding with the tarantula; that was pretty interesting haha
