i love that ellie is such a quintessential grumpy nerd and the movie doesn’t frame it as something she needs to change or soften to be better loved. it’s sooo stupid simple but also the narrative cherishing an asian girl who’s a grumpy nerd with nerd™️ dialogue and doesn’t “make up for it” by being sexy or feminine or girlboss is a rare, rare combination. she’s just herself and that’s wonderful. that’s all the film needed to love her
