Something D&D has that an annoying amount of other TTRPGs don’t: a rulebook written with the intent of conveying its rules to the player.

are you out of your fucking mind? DND, any edition, is 100x harder to pick up than the vast majority of rulebooks. There are 22 page TTRPGs on Itch.io made by two transgender people you can learn in the fifteen minutes before session. DND is the most obtuse, self contradictory pile of spaggetti rules I don’t even know how anyone would reach this conclusion unless they’ve only played DND and the second TTRPG they tried to learn was like, wild talents or Rifts or somecrap.

I have found a handful of PBtA games assume you are already familiar with the Apocalypse World mechanics upon which they are built so do not adequately explain them, especially if you come from the D&D/PF world and are expecting Crunch, but I think this is probably just fallout from the number of games built on PBtA. They won’t ALL be winners.
