If you know someone who goes on about ethical consumption and capitalism and classism environmentalism, but they throw a fit when you suggest they stop eating meat, their base motivations are either not genuine at all, or not genuinely altruistic. They want to look like they have all the right opinions; they don’t actually want to alter their own habits and behaviour.
