shelley explaining to taggie that you can fall in love with the wrong person and that it makes love afterwards (with the right person) sweeter. and bas and taggie look at each other right after she says that. if i didn’t already know how this season/this book ends, i would think they are moving away from rupert/taggie and building the foundations for bas/taggie, and it would be well written because it makes more sense than the rupert/taggie storyline this season.

this scene is so ridiculously charming, from the fact that he literally carried aubergines all the way from london to the cotswolds for her, to her getting all flustered and blushy, him reminding her of the word she forgot, and then offering to help her cook and her actually saying yes. you can really tell they’re friends and comfortable with each other on top of being attracted to each other. also there’s genuine compatibility between them. like, i can imagine them doing this if they were a couple, cooking together and having shared passions/interests.
