It's not like Viktor to wake before Jayce but when he does he's met with frigid air, frost patterns across the windows and the soft fall of snow. He takes a moment to appreciate the beauty of it. The natural phenomena of art in motion across that glass that'll last a fleeting moment before vanishing into the ether. The beauty of random fractals coming together to make something unique that'll then never be seen again. He thinks he could sit and observe it all for endless hours. But he's drawn from the idea as Jayce stirs beside him. Searching for warmth and comfort

He's never done well with the cold. Viktor understands. The lasting effects of childhood trauma. Not every snowy day is a bad day. But that's not to say they're good days either. Viktor doesn't judge though. Would be rather hypocritical if he did he thinks. He too understands life with good days, bad days and indifferent days. And Jayce stands by him through it all. So of course he'll be there for Jayce. So of course he shuffles closer to still sleeping Jayce, wrapping willowy arms around him and holding him close. Fingers twirling dark locks as Jayce sighs into his skin and relaxes again

And when sleep finally releases it clutches on Jayce he pulls Viktor impossibly closer in a bone crushing hug, burying his face deeper into pale skin to shut out the world. "I'm thinking uhh, copious amounts of pancakes, coffee and blankets for the day and we do nothing hmm?" Viktor mumbles, voice lazy and calm. Fingers still carding through Jayce's hair as he peppers the other's face in butterfly kisses. All Jayce can do is hum in response, breathing in Viktor and ignoring the outside world that threatens to close in and take all he loves again. It won't He knows it won't. Viktor won't let it. But it doesn't stop his rising anxiety and concerns. "You don't have to get up yet, you can stay here love. We can have breakfast in bed." "With the good syrup?" "What do you take me for Jayce? A heathen? Of course with the good syrup. And the good chocolate too."

Jayce doesn't stay in bed. He tags along to the kitchen too, keeping Viktor close and encased under the blankets with him. He needs to stay with Viktor. He knows how susceptible he is to the cold. He can't have Viktor be cold. And sure it's not easy making pancakes like that but they do it. And as Jayce carries the loaded up plates Viktor goes to get more blankets for their bed. And pillows and cushions. Everything soft and comforting he can gather up to make the softest safe space for Jayce. And after dumping them on the bed he goes to the window. Takes on last look at the snowy wonderland outside before closing the shutters and blocking it all out. Out of sight out of mind. And then he returns to bed. To enjoy his pancakes with his husband and laze the day away together
