Giants playing GAMES with their tiny friend/partner
(aka a fearplay goldmine presented to you by Mimi)
and because of the size difference, either the rules/structure changes, or the entire experience is heightened.
I will never get over the concept of a giant and tiny playing hide and seek together. It’s so exhilarating, especially if the giant and tiny are good friends and just doing it for fun, but all of a sudden the tiny is like… “oh, this is making my heart beat really fast woah woah woah okay”
When it’s the giant’s turn to hide it’s so cute and all “ha! Found you!” But when the tiny is hiding it’s the tantalizing sound of footsteps, the giant crooning out to them, the whispered “Gotcha.” Ooohohoh I’m giggling.
We also have the classic “using a tiny as a chess piece/player in a board game” and that never gets old.
Consider a variant to hide and seek: hot and cold. A group of giants or a mixed-sized friend group deciding where a tiny is going to hide, so on top of the rush that comes with knowing the giant is getting closer, there’s also the added tension of knowing that EVERYONE in that room is guiding the giant towards them.
That trending poison-spot game? Hell yeah. When it’s the giant’s turn, they’ve got to verbally specify which part that was meant to cover since they’re so small and the tiny needs to tell them if they were safe/right or not. When it’s the tiny’s turn, it might take a bit of extra time for them to GET to the spot they want, so maybe having to ask the giant to lift them up there. Giants having to pick a general region as their poison-zone rather than one spot so it’s more fair to the tiny.
Hear me out: hot potato. Practically a rollercoaster, you better hope you trust your giants if you’re gonna let them toss you around like that. The constant shift in hands, the voices singing the song and giggling as the tiny is passed around, getting near the end and being unable to cling because no giant wants to be the one who gets out. Being cradled and given a break when the round ends by the person who ended up with you.
Another variant of a trend; giant is blindfolded and rotates between holding a bunch of their tiny friends and has to guess which one they’re holding. It’s like that whole “holding hands and seeing if they can guess which one is their partner” trend. Vice versa is GREAT, too, tiny is blindfolded and has to guess which hands they’re in.
Push-up contests. Just gonna leave that one there.
“Everything except a giant is Lava”
Kind of like Pictionary, but every giant has a tiny sitting on their head ratatouille style and this is played with a BIG mixed-sized friend group, so everyone is walking around and asking questions to each other to guess which tiny is tugging on their hair.
This one is SO g/t-frat-guy-esque, but hang-man with a twist: for every letter you get wrong, another tiny ends up pinned to the board by the back of their shirt. Extra points if the word is so obvious and the tinies are poking fun at them for not being able to guess it. Bonus creativity points if they’re playing on a whiteboard and the tinies are being held up by magnet letters? Ex. A giant guessed “T” but that was wrong, so we’re gonna grab a tiny and pin them to the board with the T-magnet/pin. A giant remembering “Oh, wait! There actually was a Z in there,” and plucking the tiny off the board who got pinned for that letter a couple guesses back.
Marco Polo. Works best with one giant and multiple tinies for safety reasons.
Chicken fighting in the pool, two tinies each sitting on the shoulder of their giant while the giants are casually lounging beside each other. It’s mostly focused on the tinies but they’re using the giants as slippery terrain, trying to shove each other off. The fun part is being the person that loses, really, because they land into the pool with a plop! and are fished out by their giant who was just having a casual conversation throughout the whole game.
Tug of war but it’s like 20 tinies vs a giant’s non-dominant hand or just a single finger with the rope twisted around it.
Thumb war but it’s the ENTIRE tiny trying to pin the giant’s thumb down while the giant tries to pin them down with their thumb. Giant isn’t allowed to use their other fingers to make it more fair.
Super durable tinies with strong guts being strapped into a Foosball table. Another roller-coaster kind of experience, added chicanery because tinies are definitely kicking their legs or using their hands to try and move the ball if it’s close to them but not quite reachable. A gear mechanism that locks certain rods if they’ve been used too often so the tinies don’t throw up. Using a super soft/safer lightweight ball so no one is getting any concussions. Super reckless, super fun. The aftermath of being carefully unstrapped and given time to rest after the game.
Extreme trust-falls where a tiny closes their eyes and leans back off of a table/something they could get seriously injured from as a trust exercise, knowing their giant’s hand is behind them and ready to catch.
MAZE games. Four giants and four tinies. All the tinies start off in the middle of the maze while their giants are all talking over each other trying to tell them which way to go to get out of the maze, to the side that the giant is sitting out of. First tiny out, wins. It’s tough because you hear your giant say “okay okay go left!” But another giant is louder and saying “RIGHT RIGHT RIGHT”
More domestic/sweet; cooking competitions where giants try mini-cooking and then a tiny or multiple tinies rate their dish. It’s sloppy and clearly made by giant hands but the tension and time crunch is fun.
FEARPLAY CENTRAL: a final note is another hide and seek variant; this time within a house/dollhouse. Time limit so the tiny actually has a chance to win, but they can hide anywhere in the house. The giant can reach in from anywhere with their hand and has to try and find the tiny without being able to see them. Knocking over furniture, pushing things around, blindly grabbing, the tiny’s heart literally pounding out of their chest. Bonus points if it’s a dollhouse and the giant wants a better grip so they just pick up the whole thing and set it in their lap as they continue to dig.
What ties all of these games together is those giggles. Oh my gosh. And for me personally it’s a lot more fun if this is actually done between friends or a giant and tiny that trust each other, because that’s where the fearplay gets giggle-inducing. If it’s just for torture or punishment or bullying then it’s purely terrifying, but knowing it’s someone you love/care about is what makes that racing heart a heart that’s beating with adoration as well.
On the other hand, though, who doesn’t love a good misunderstanding? Tiny bursting into tears mid game because they didn’t realize how terrifying this was going to be. The giant immediately dropping their playfulness and scooping them up to do something less exerting.
In conclusion everyone needs to consider the concept of g/t frat guys at least once. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

When Sophia opened her eyes, for a moment, she remembered nothing. In that brief instant, she expected to find herself in her own room, lying in her own bed. But it took only seconds for the events of the previous night to come rushing back.
She turned her head and looked around. Strangely, everything felt different, even though she knew she was still inside a giant’s home.
A wardrobe towered like a skyscraper. The mirror looked like a portal to another world, and the curtains flowed in soft waves like an endless ocean.
Sophia stretched and rolled onto her side, only to freeze. She rubbed her eyes and looked again, unsure if she had seen correctly.
Nearby, a giant figure slept peacefully. His chest rose and fell in a slow, steady rhythm. One hand rested on his stomach while the other lay tucked beneath his head.
Sophia swallowed hard.
Little by little, she realized where she was. Beneath her was warm, soft fabric. Slowly, she pushed herself upright and looked around. Gregor's bed stretched endlessly in every direction.
Her gaze drifted back to him.
With his eyes closed, he seemed different somehow. The usual coldness and anger were gone.
Sophia could hardly believe Gregor had shown her any mercy at all. The events of the previous night felt hazy in her mind, blurred like fragments of a dream. The last thing she clearly remembered was sitting near the fireplace. At some point, without even realizing it, she had fallen asleep wrapped in an unfamiliar sense of calm.
Perhaps she only felt that way because she wasn't locked inside the cage. Because no one had threatened her. Because, for a few hours, she had been allowed to forget her fear.
After days of fear, threats, pain, and confinement, the absence of those things felt almost comforting. For a few brief hours, she hadn't felt like she was waiting for something terrible to happen.
Whatever the reason, she had slept better than she had in a very long time.
She felt rested, almost energetic. If it weren’t for her situation, she might even have called it refreshing.
Suddenly, the bed trembled beneath her.
Gregor rolled toward her, stretching in his sleep.
Sophia jerked backward in panic. A scream nearly escaped her throat, but she clamped both hands over her mouth. Gregor settled onto his side, still asleep. If she had reacted even a second slower, she would have been crushed beneath his weight.
Her heart pounded violently against her ribs. Her breathing turned quick and uneven as she pressed a trembling hand to her chest, struggling to calm herself.
Gregor hadn’t woken for even a moment.
Sophia thought bitterly that if he had crushed her in his sleep, his only concern would have been cleaning the bloodstains from his sheets.
The thought made nausea twist in her stomach. Goosebumps crawled across her skin. She hated this feeling, this terrifying helplessness. She had become so small. So powerless.
Once her breathing finally steadied, she forced herself to stand. Escape was impossible; she knew that much. Even though she still had enough strength to walk, her mind felt sluggish from exhaustion, and without food, she doubted she could survive much longer.
She was nothing like the person she used to be. The endless fear and anxiety had worn down her mind, while weeks of confinement inside the cage had weakened her body.
Carefully, she walked toward the edge of the bed and peered down. The dizzying height alone was enough to remind her that escape was hopeless.
Turning away, she began walking in the opposite direction, keeping as much distance from Gregor as possible in case he rolled again. The duvet beneath her was light blue, while the blanket draped over it was a darker shade of blue. In her old life, she probably would have liked the combination.
Her old life.
The words felt foreign now.
Those memories no longer seemed real. They felt distant, unreachable, as though they belonged to someone else entirely.
She thought of her mother. Her father. Her little brother.
Everyone she missed.
Everyone who was probably worried sick about her... assuming they hadn’t already given up searching.
The thought of being forgotten weighed painfully on her chest.
Sophia turned toward the enormous window. Sunlight streamed through the curtains in golden ribbons, spilling across the bed.
She took a slow, deep breath.
Whether she accepted it or not, this was her life now, a life she had almost no control over. All she could do was survive.
And with a quiet, humorless laugh, she realized she had already failed even at that.
Now she clearly remembered begging Gregor the night before to kill her instead of tormenting her further.
She couldn’t even blame herself for it.
Everything he had done had confirmed her worst nightmares. He had ripped her from the cage without warning, trapped her helplessly inside his hand, and humiliated her with mocking words.
Sophia had no doubt that the way he had looked at her the night before was the same way a predator looked at its prey.
But all of that had been before she asked for death.
After that, Gregor had softened.
“Maybe he never intended to kill me,” she thought. And honestly, it made sense.
She looked toward Gregor, who was still asleep nearby. Moving carefully, she stepped closer to him.
Perhaps he had never planned to kill her. That didn’t mean he minded tormenting her, though. He had proven that to Sophia many times already.
She reminded herself firmly. He’s not your friend. He's Victor's.
At once, the memory of those horrific, animal-like screams echoed through her mind. The cries of those Victor had murdered in the cruelest ways imaginable.
The thoughts made her head ache.
The confusion, the fear, the uncertainty about her future… all of it was slowly driving her toward madness.
Still, despite everything, she was alive.
And so she made herself a promise: No matter what happened, she would never willingly surrender her life for anything. Absolutely anything.
Carefully, she returned to a spot not far from where she had first awakened and lay back down again.
If she could enjoy the comfort of a better life, even temporarily, then she would. The floor of her cage had been cold and unforgiving. Every morning, she woke up with aches spreading through her body. Compared to that, this bed felt like heaven.
But despite her exhaustion, sleep refused to come. Instead, she lay silently listening to Gregor's deep, steady breathing, secretly hoping he would stay asleep a little longer.
Unfortunately, luck wasn’t on her side, and he woke sooner than she expected, letting out a long yawn.
Sophia froze.
The sight of his enormous teeth and dark throat sent fear rushing through her body. His warm breath swept over her, lifting strands of her hair into the air, while the low growl of his stomach made chills crawl down her spine.
Gregor rubbed at his eyes and lazily rolled toward her again.
This time, Sophia had no chance to escape.
A scream burst from her throat.
Fortunately, before his weight could press her beneath him, Gregor suddenly came to his senses and jerked himself back. Sophia scrambled desperately across the bed, trying to put as much distance between them as possible.
Now fully awake because of her scream, he stared at her with widened eyes.
Once Sophia felt she was far enough away, she sat down stiffly, bracing herself for his anger. To her, screaming had simply meant survival, but would Gregor care about that?
Her body trembled violently. Not only from fear of his reaction, but from the realization that she had once again come terrifyingly close to death.
For someone as small as she was, death always felt far larger and nearer than she wanted to believe.
Contrary to her expectations, the incident didn’t seem to matter much to Gregor. In fact, he preferred that the tiny creature stay alive.
He understood why she was afraid. He knew she expected to be blamed or punished for screaming, but he had slept surprisingly well that night and had woken in an unusually good mood. Because of that, the situation hardly seemed worth caring about.
Besides, seeing that the little creature still possessed the instinct to survive was good news.
Gregor ran a hand through his messy hair and gestured toward her with the other.
Sophia swallowed nervously. She was still afraid, but there was no anger on his face.
Slowly, she stood and walked toward him on unsteady legs. The mattress dipped beneath her feet with every step, making it difficult to keep her balance.
“No need to be afraid,” he said lazily. “I’m not mad at you.”
He slowly pushed himself upright.
The sudden shift in the mattress threw Sophia off balance, and she fell face-first onto the bed. When she looked back up at him, a mocking smile tugged at the corners of his lips.
“I can see the reasoning behind your actions, even if they're foolish.”
Sophia let out a quiet breath.
Maybe he meant it as mockery, but he wasn’t entirely wrong. Being this small meant that even tiny mistakes could become disastrous ones, mistakes she could barely endure, let alone survive the consequences of.
“If you want, you can rest a little longer.” A loud growl from his stomach interrupted him.
“But as you can see,” he added dryly, “I need to eat. If I stay here any longer, I might be tempted to eat you instead.”
He let out a laugh at his own terrible joke.
Sophia, thoroughly unamused, simply stared at him in silence. She truly had been lucky that he hadn’t woken up in a worse mood today.
“Thanks,” she said quietly.
Of course, she preferred staying here, not only because the bed was soft and comfortable, but also because it allowed her to keep her distance from him. Still, she was hungry.
As Gregor stood and moved across the room, the mattress trembled beneath her, snapping Sophia from her thoughts. She lifted her head to look at him, but he was so tall and far away that she had to crane her neck just to see his face.
Gregor walked to the mirror, ran a hand through his hair, then left the room.
Sophia let out the breath she had been holding and collapsed back onto the bed.
She knew she shouldn’t grow accustomed to his kindness. Sooner or later, she would be thrown back into the cage, waking every morning with pain in her back while the nightmares continued to torment her.
But for a few minutes, just a few minutes, she wanted to lie there and pretend she was back in her own room, in her own home.
She could almost hear the television from downstairs. Her mother was probably watching her favorite show. Her father had just returned home with the latest newspapers from Mr. Wilson’s kiosk. Her little brother sat nearby, cutting up old newspapers to make a collage for school.
She could hear the soft snip of scissors close to her ear.
She knew it was him.
She wanted to believe it was him.
Who else could it possibly be? Who else besides Albert always carried scissors around?
A whistle.
The sharp sound echoed through her mind.
Her ears rang. It was too late to wake up.
Sophia turned toward the noise.
Her body no longer belonged to her. It felt as though invisible strings had been tied to her arms and legs, controlling her like a puppet from above. She wanted to speak, but her lips wouldn’t part. No sound escaped her throat.
Slowly, she lifted her head.
Giant hands loomed overhead, pulling at the strings attached to her body. One tugged her right arm upward. Another forced her left leg forward.
Panic consumed her.
She tried to scream, but her voice remained trapped inside her throat.
“Who else knows how to use scissors?” the Giant asked. Sophia recognized the voice instantly.
The voice that haunted every one of her nightmares.
But the next voice froze her completely.
“I do!!”
Albert came running toward her, a pair of scissors clutched in his small hands.
Sophia’s eyes widened in horror.
She wanted to scream: "Albert, stay back!"
But her lips remained sealed shut.
Tears streamed down her face as helplessness consumed her. She couldn’t even beg the puppeteer to spare her brother.
Against her will, her hand lifted, beckoning him closer.
Against her will, her feet moved toward him.
Albert kept running toward her.
Boom.
Sophia froze.
A massive shoe slammed into the ground exactly where her brother had been standing only moments before.
Her lungs refused to draw breath.
The giant foot lifted, then crashed down again.
Sophia tried to scream once more.
Again, nothing came out.
The only thing she still controlled were her tears.
The puppeteer guided her forward until she stood before her brother’s broken, bloodied body.
“HELP! Sophie… help me!”
He was alive.
He shouldn’t have been, but somehow he was.
Sophia desperately wanted to run to him, to hold him, to help him.
“S…Sophie…”
Every part of her wanted to save him.
But she couldn’t move.
Couldn’t speak.
Couldn’t do anything.
Suddenly, a deafening sound echoed above her.
Sophia lifted her head.
The puppeteer crouched nearby, holding a pair of scissors in one hand while the other shoved her backward carelessly.
She tried to scream again.
Nothing.
Without even glancing at her, the puppeteer lowered the scissors toward Albert’s half-conscious body.
“Well done, buddy,” he said with a faint smile. “You played your part perfectly. Time to get changed.”
The sharp tip of the scissors touched Albert’s face before slowly sliding downward, and his scream tore through the empty space, hitting Sophia like something breaking deep inside her.
She fought against the force holding her, against her own body that refused to obey, desperate to stop it, to do something.
She had to stop him. She had to…
Stop! STOP!
But nothing responded, not her limbs, not her voice, nothing belonged to her anymore.
She could only feel herself trapped inside a body that would not move, forced to watch as the puppeteer continued without hesitation, cutting and slicing with slow, deliberate precision while Albert’s voice broke apart into weaker fragments until even those began to fade.
Sophia stared helplessly as everything human about him was stripped away in front of her. She felt as though she might lose consciousness at any second, but she never did.
She remained awake, trapped inside herself, staring at her brother’s broken body.
Meanwhile, the puppeteer continued pulling at the strings attached to her limbs as though nothing had happened at all. Her body obeyed every command without resistance, moving when it was told to move, stopping when it was told to stop. Sophia could do nothing except watch.
Her eyes remained fixed ahead, wide and empty. She no longer struggled against the strings, no longer tried to scream, no longer even thought about freedom. She was only a puppet now. Small, helpless, and lifeless.
"I'm tired," Whumpee said. Caretaker looked up from their phone.
"Hm?"
"I'm tired," they repeated.
"You haven't done anything today."
Whumpee didn't have the energy to argue. They were exhausted. They didn't exist. They weren't real. The things they did that day mattered to absolutely no one. They were tired.
"I'm tired," they said for the third time, starting to work themself up a little. "I'm tired, I'm tired, I'm tired."
"I hear you. Fine."
Whumpee lay their head on the kitchen table, next to their untouched plate of food. "I'm tired."
I just realized I absolutely love carewhumpers (even more than caretakers), and I love seeing them in G/t stories.
Imagine a tiny getting hurt by a giant. Maybe the giant is sadistic. Maybe they're just curious about how much the tiny can endure. Either way, the tiny gets hurt, and it hurts. So badly that they can't hide it anymore.
That's when the giant realizes they've gone too far.
And that's when they become the carewhumper.
They patch the tiny up. They bring them food. They make sure they're comfortable. They show them kindness, not because they feel guilty, but because they want the tiny alive and healthy enough to keep hurting them later.
After all, they wouldn't want to lose such a cute little thing.
"No! It hurts!"
"Which is exactly why I need to put this bandage on."
"Just give me some painkillers."
"Oh... I'd rather not. They're a bit too big for you to swallow."
