"Addiction" is not a monolith. And it's perfectly fine to judge people who cause harm to you regardless of what compelled them to do it. Self-interested people (including addicts) can be extremely persuasive (like convincing you to discard your boundaries in the name of "compassion" or "empathy" for instance). Don't let other people take advantage of you, no matter what excuses they give. Unless you're the professional they're paying to help them, it's not your job.

I stopped RPing several years ago due to burnout with the drama and social bullshit. Been thinking of trying again, but... I don't really feel like being part of the "community" per se. Like I don't want to extract any resources from anyone, I don't need social currency/approval, I don't have gaping holes in my actual life that I need RP to fill. I'm happy and healthy. I just want to... write stories. With others. In a fandom I (mostly) enjoy. Genuine question: is that too much to ask?

Doormat friend is doing so good. I'm proud of them. I hate that people who did claim to care about them had not once reached out to them. Did those expect them to reach out? I know at least two others they did reach out to completely shut them down and out defending the problem. But that is two less people out of their life. I hope they call them out one day should they try to talk to them again.

Its hilarious seeing Zul'jan supporters see in real time that he is a written like an EXTREME right wing chud and they are way too fucking dense to realize it. "It's not canon for Man'ari to be permitted in Stormwind." Except that I can literally go make one. Right now. And then walk into Stormwind. Blizzard added them as an option for a playable race, you cannot expect a community to just collectively decide that canon rejects what you actively see with your own two eyes. Is it dumb on Blizzard's part? Is it not how it happens in (other part of the IP)? It literally doesn't fucking matter. That's the way it is in game, so people will follow that.

Art being the sacred cow of this hobby really doesn't surprise me... but at what point does the constant fake positivity get tiring? Endlessly praising someone's artwork that is not the best, while they use you for validation and fly off the handle at any polite constructive criticism... having to parse my messages like I'm checking a work email for the right amount of exclamation points and 'what is expected of me' to sound polite... being needled with more questions when I say in more words, "oh, hey, that looks nice!" because it isn't exuberant enough. I'm not the original anon who is complaining nastily about someone's art, but I'm at the point where their posts seem almost cathartic with reference to a couple of people in my life. Maybe they're tired of being a validation machine too...
