[What about lore-breaking characters drives SO many people mad?] RP is a collaborative hobby, lore-breaking OCs either force others to bend their own writing and lore to suit them, or ignore their presence in a shared space. WoW lore is vast but shallow, with even slight effort you can make many concepts work and not be lore-breaking. When it becomes annoying for some is when you can't adhere to even the most very basic bedrock lore of your chosen niche.

Bro please I'm begging you just RP a Hallowfall Arathi please bro you don't need to RP an Arathi from the Empire I promise you'll still get walkups. Arathi being unable to get beyond the Storming Sea is like the one lore thing we know about them one hundred percent. IT'S THE ONE SINGLE THING!

Frankly as someone that is probably more tolerant of new RPers, unusual races, etc. than the average poster here it just comes down to time. I barely have enough free time to get in all the RP that is creatively fulfilling for me with my friends, I don't want to spend that precious time flipping through the lottery that is Stormwind public RP. The biggest piece of advice I'd give to anyone is that emotional stability and maturity is more important for RP than obtaining some sort of mentor figure.
