Haven't posted here in awhile, but my extended family is having all kinds of crap going on and Im the eldest daughter of the disabled eldest daughter, so was guilted into taking on way more than I was comfortable with.
Grandma broke her hip, and is 90 and somewhat confused, and I have someone to take care of her during the day, but Im it the rest of the time.
My aunt's idea to help was to send her autistic 24 year who also has extreme anxiety and possibly schizophrenia, and has the mental capacity of a 12 year old up to help.
Said kid said today that she wanted to unalive herself and wanted to be admitted to an i patient facility. I wanted to take her straight to the ED, but my sister in law called the Crisis Response Team, who said because she doesnt have a plan to unalive herself, she's not suicidal and no hospital would take her.
Does this sound right? Am I overreacting? I absolutely think she needs to be admitted. She ASKED to be admitted. My sister in law thinks Im overreacting and being a bitch. What if she lied about not having a plan? What if I got up in the night and found her dead?
I really need someone to tell me. Am I overreacting, or will hospitals really not admit someone who says they WANT TO unalive themselves and want to be admitted, if they cant or wont say how they would do it? Worth noting that I have a teenager at home of my own who I feel the need to protect.
