this is fucking awful, obviously, and I hope this parent gets the book thrown at her when it comes to sentencing.

but I am really struggling not to be amused by the fact that the kidnapping failed. the target of this unhinged plot escaped, got caught, escaped again, and called 911 for help. her mother and two accomplices did the whole thing to prove to her how vulnerable she was and instead she just kicked ass.

The fact that the woman's caregiver aided and abetted her mother in kidnapping her to "teach her a lesson" sickens me. I hope they get the book too and she gets a caregiver who actually fucking cares about her.

As an important side note, this mother is a (now former) library board member who campaigned on a pro-censorship platform aimed at removing books with LGBTQ+ content from children's section, to keep kids from being contaminated by "homosexual lifestyles" and "gender confusion". So when she says that her daughter was getting into "dangerous situations" online, keep in mind what this woman considers a dangerous situation.
