The episode starts out at a renaissance fair located in Wisconsin sometime in 1985 where the Minutemen from the TVA are searching for the Variant. It ends up being a trap and the Variant kills off the other Minutemen and kidnaps a character that is introduced as C-20 (Sasha Lane). Oh, kudos for playing “Holding Out For A Hero” by Bonnie Tyler. Now that song is stuck in my head.

Meanwhile, Loki is in some kind of office cubicle getting lessons from Miss Minute who has become some kind of hologram AI. He tries to swat her away and Mobius comes by and gives him a jacket to wear. They then are briefed by B-15 that they must go to 1985 and look for the team that was sent there and the Variant which is supposedly a different type of Loki.

In 1985, Loki, Mobius and the Minutemen try looking for C-20 back at the renaissance fair but Loki seems to be trying to stall. Mobius soon finds out that he is lying about everything he is saying and the Minutemen reset the timeline.

Mobius meets Ravonna inside her office and they talk about Loki and other things. We also find out that Mobius never met the Time Keepers. Also, the Time Keepers are monitoring every aspect of the case and they want the Variant caught. Once Mobius leaves the office, Loki is there trying to explain what happened when they traveled to 1985. This annoys Mobius. He just wants him to be quiet. I must say, I do like this Loki. I like this character better than any other iterations of the character. Including the one in Thor: Ragnorok

They go to this huge library and Loki finds out about Destruction of Asgard. On another note, the side characters in this TV show are all great.

Loki discovers that the Variant is hiding out in one of the apocalypses. What’s interesting is that there were many apocalypses in all of human history. Loki then explains that no matter what he does in that apocalypse, it doesn’t matter because everyone is destined for immediate destruction. The timeline won’t branch since everything gets destroyed.

He wants to go to an apocalypse to test out his theory but Mobius hesitates because he doesn’t want to get betrayed. Loki persuades him and they go back in time to Pompeii, Italy at 79 AD where the city is about to be destroyed by a volcano. Loki causes a disturbance by freeing goats and speaking in Italian to the crowd that they are all going to die.

Later, Loki and Mobius come back to the TVA and they have a discussion on their existence and all sorts of philosophy. Loki mentions that no one bad is ever truly bad and no one good is ever truly good and this somewhat gives Mobius an epiphany.

Mobius' epiphany places the killer Variant in 2050 Alabama, so he, Loki, B-15, and a bunch of Minutemen find themselves in a WalMart like store called RoxxCart.

Inside, we are finally introduced to who this Variant is. It isn’t a Loki but Sophia Di Martino. The credits claim that she is Sylvie aka Enchantress. This would be the first time this character is introduced in the MCU. It’s here where we also find out about Loki’s villainous plan to overthrow the Time Keepers. Of course, Sylvie wants no part of it. All she was doing was stalling for time for her own villainous plan. I like that she tells him that “This isn’t about you.”
