okay but like this whole serena williams situation is just so fucking frustrating!!!! her ‘meltdown’ wasn’t just a spur of the moment thing that came out of nowhere. it was the culmination of years and years of humiliation. of unnecessary drug tests. for years she has been shown distrust and put down. her opinions invalidated and thrown aside. she did what any male player would have done, demanded the respect she fucking deserves. and yet when she does it she’s penalised. as a black woman my heart aches for her. we are constantly put down, ignored, invalidated, expected to reach the stars while being pulled down. all while keeping our mouths shut, all while remaining emotionless, but not too emotionless. we’re not allowed to show anger because then we get called ‘aggressive’ and ‘scary’ and then we turn into yet another angry black woman. i’m so fucking tired of it.
