have great makorra fanfics :)
Makorra and Korrasami through the books.
Hi,
First, this is not hate for Makorra, nor is it meant to try to make you change your mind, this is just to give you the opinion of someone who has changed ships over the course of the show.
To be honest, I have shipped Makorra from the beginning (the scene where Korra looks out to the Pro-bending arena in "Leaf in the wind" and Mako stares at Air Temple Island...such a beautiful scene). I have hated Asami for "stealing" Mako from Korra in Book 1. I have hated her for being so vulnerable in front of Mako (talking about her mother's death) as I initially thought this was to manipulate him against Korra (Yes was also one of those who thought that Asami was an equalist!). So yeah basically I did not like Asami in Book 1 (her only moment for me being: "You really are a terrible father"). In this book I 100 % agree that Makorra is strong and even though I wasn't found of the quick resolution of "Endgame" I loved loved the Makorra hug twirl and kiss at the end. Afterwards, I tried to read all the Makorra fanfiction I could find to satisfy my thirst of them.
We have to keep in mind that this was supposed to be a 12 episode mini-series only, with Makorra being final endgame. To me the problems and inconsistencies start from this point on. Had the creators known they were going to make more books sooner, I am 100% certain that the book 1 and the finale would have been different (i. e. Korra not getting all her bending back, nor accessing the AS and the love triangle would not had moved so fast and jumping from ship to ship..). Also, this finale made Korra too strong way too fast which is why I think Korra had to be toned down in Book 2. I mean the first 5 or 6episodes of B2 she is unbearable, immature, extremely annoying and she is treating Mako like shit, and he just stands there and take all the crap she throws at him without retaliating (like he said: "What's up with you and sides?"). Honestly, in B2 Mako is the perfect boyfriend trying to please his girlfriend the best way he can. Despite all this I still loved the Makorra and was sad by the break up (come on that picture he had of him and Korra could possibly be the cutest thing ever!!!!). I was disappointed in Mako for kissing/or letting Asami kiss him so quickly after the break up. I was happy when Korra came back and threw herself at Mako like it was the most natural thing to do. And then the break up scene happened. TBH, I thought it was extremely well done, not over the top, it was realistic and heartfelt and the "always" line made me hopeful for their future. There was the "if it had been another time another place, with no war to fight, it could work" vibe. The chemistry has always been REAL! Korra has always ignited Mako's fire and sense of purpose and still does.
Now onto B3, this is the start of Korrasami friendship. At first, it did feel a bit forced, maybe even random, but it was a nice contrast to the awkward Makorra, especially on Mako's part. As the seasonĀ progressed, I started to like their friendship more and more. I was glad Korra had finally somebody to talk to an to confide in. That didn't stop me from getting excited by the Makorra hug in "The Ultimatum" or the hug in the finale (plus I felt Korra's expression was one of love and maybe goodbye to Mako and I was disappointed we did not get frantic worried mama Mako when Korra was dying at the end).
However, everything changed when Korra got poisoned and nearly died. Some say it was a rape metaphor and tbh I am not 100 % sure if the creators where going for that or not. But in the end Korra was left deeply violated and traumatized. In retrospect, the seed for Korrasami starts here, because the innocent, brash, violent, overconfident and so in love with Mako, Korra died here. What we see after that is a different girl/women, one with a different path and different possibilities. The Korrasami scene in the aftermath of the battle is very strong (dare I say possibly deeper on a more higher emotional intellectual level than what we've seen of Makorra on screen). Ā To me, not only does it imply that Asami has been Korra's caregiver during those two weeks, but also that Asami deeply cares about Korra (The start of the deep emotional connection ?). Also, after getting over the fact that Makorra has no interaction in theĀ B3 epilogue, I noticed that in the end scene Mako is standing far from Korra and Asami is right by her side.
Now onto book 4, the emotional connection is reinforced in "Korra Alone" when we learn that Korra only replied to Asami. To me this does not tell me that Korra is in love with Asami, it tells me that Korra needs emotional support more than anything. Sometimes we feel the emotional support is best when it comes from somebody whom we feel can understand what we are going through. (as women we feel more comfortable talking to other women concerning certain subjects). Here Korra feels she can only talk about her fears and her insecurities with Asami, because she feels that Mako and Boilin will not understand. I don't like bringing this up, but in a way Korra was violated and brutalized by a man, and sometimes victims of such crimes have difficulty reconnecting with the opposite sex for fear of getting hurt again. Also, Korra is really proud and does not like to show weakness in front of people, let alone Mako, whom she always associated with strength and power. This is what opened up the possibility for Asami to be Korra's rock and support. Korra was forced to let Asami in, because she couldn't do certain vital things or her own (extrapolating: Asami was the one, to dress her, cook for her, bathe her -at first-, to wheel her around ect). Whether they wanted it or not this painful experience brought them closer.
I am not going to talk about the blush because to me Korrasami is not about physical attraction, though both women are extremely beautiful, it is about their emotional bond. It is about the thrust and understanding of one another. Asami has also had her fare share of pain and she seemed to have separated herself from others (extrapolating: she does not seem to have many friends and she seemed busy working on projects for the city ect). Korra and herself share this marginalisation, which brings them closer together. I have read a fanfiction from Ā SorbetLaitier on ff.net and she captured this in such a beautiful way that I couldn't help but fall in love with the idea of Korrasami. Here is the excerpt from Asami's POV: Truthfully, she couldn't quite understand her fondness for Korra. While it felt like more than simple friendship, it also felt entirely different than her prior romance with Mako. Those emotions were straightforward and simple. Korra was not simple. She didn't know if she felt a physical attraction to Korra. She only knew that there was a strong emotional bond between them, and that she wished to explore it further.
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10837027/10/Nightmares-and-Daydreams
On the other hand, in retrospect hand Korra's relationship with Mako is a little more immature in comparison to B3 and B4 Korrasami. This is normal because Mako was Korra's first realtionship (also possibly first social interaction with a boy...leading to all sort of adorkable and awkward moments in B1) and she felt so out of her league she asked the airkids for advice. Taking Korra's hypothetical childhood in consideration, she was raised by the White Lotus and had no meaningful social interactions (I mean her best friend was Naga!). She was raised to be the avatar and bring peace to the world, that was allshe was to them. Considering that her first important social encounters happened at the age of 17, it is realistic that she would have all sorts of new emotions. Her crush on Mako was real, she was genuinely impressed and amazed by his talents and his cool under fire attitude. I actually do believe that she loved him because he made her feel unique and special as Korra the girl and not only just as the Avatar. TBH, I sincerely believe that Makorra could have been endgame had Korra not been brutally violated by Zahere. Also, I did feel that Mako still loved Korra in book 4 (his gab session in "Rememberances", being hurt by the fact that she never wrote back to him, him not dating anyone since her, his expression in the finale when they couldn't find her, his look in the epilogue when he told he would always be by her side...). This is realistic considering Mako did not change like Korra did, he stayed relatively the same, just more mature.
However, what happened in the B3 finale changed the course of Korra's life forever. As much as she loved Mako for making her feel important as Korra the girl, Asami took that to another level entirely. After Korra got injured, there was basically no more avatar, not only was she too weak to be the avatar, she lost her connection to Ravaa. Asami took care of Korra the girl at her most vulnerable, she saw Korra with no armour, with no confidence, depressed and broken and she stayed through it all (in comparison to the Makorra middle B2 breakup). This made their emotional connection that much deeper and that much more real. I can relate to this because, I too have the need for that emotional connection first (vs the physical attraction) whether it be with a guy or a girl.
In the end Korrasami ended up being the ship that I never Knew I wanted!!!
Sorry I did not mean to make this post this long...I kind of got sidetracked LOL
***WARNING: this post contains what may be considered minor spoiler-esque information***
A Viacom employee who has seen the finale early has revealed some vague details on the episodes!
Iām fortunate enough to be in a position (working at Viacom) where I can watch the episodes early, and I just finished the final two. Let me just say, everyone involved went all out.
The fights are crazy and epic.
Thereās romance.
Thereās sadness.
Thereās humor.
So many FEELZ
Thereās everything youād want in an Avatar, or any television, episode or finale.
Iām still kind of reeling from the awesomeness. So while itās not like anyone needed to look forward to the episode even more, I just wanted to let all you fine people know that thereās no need to worry about anything. These episodes are near close to perfect, and weāre lucky to be fans of this amazing show. Itās been a great ride.
This employee, who has not given her name for obvious reasons, says she liked this finale more than Book 3ās, because it is āhappy, sad, sentimental, satisfying, funny, awesome, [and] excitingā whereas Book 3ās finale was mainly just fight scenes, while this one is more āconclusive.ā
She says it featuresĀ romance, which plays a large part in both episodes, and that this romance is ānot necessarily confined to only one pairingā and is āmore mature and nuancedā than the earlier seasons. When asked to wink twice for confirming Makorra and once for no Makorra, she jokingly winked three times, and when asked specifically about Korrasami she said āWho knows?ā avoiding answering anything with spoilers, obviously.
When asked if the finale contains anything that would be ārisky for Nick/Viacom to doā she replied āsort of?ā
She confirmed that there is "a little" time skip.
Parts of the finale are āpredictableā while there are parts she ādefinitely didnāt see coming.ā
Zhu Li ādoes a lot of thingsā in the finale.
The finale has āa few loose ends.ā
Keep checking this post for updates!

Also she states that Asami is involved int the Finale and that is a real team effort :))

SOMEBODY KORRA FANFIC WITH ME
Iāve never written a fanfic and I am a wannabeavatar that needs something to write about.Ā
SOMEBODY RELATE AND COWRITE WITH ME ARGH
Hi, I'm not very good at writing and English is my second language but I would be interested to try with you :)
possibly made of platinum?
Be ready to have your feels broken by the finale!!
Have you finished the last episode of Korra?
Itās crazy I havenāt scored it yet.
Oh really?
Yeah, itās going to be emotional I think. It was pretty emotional finishing ATLA but yeah I think on some levels Iām ready to try something else but this has been a great project and you know you donāt get a lot of these special, unique, open projects. Iām optimistic for the future but I know this was special. You get attached to the characters you know, which is funny.

Iām actually a bit perplexed at how passive Korra was when confronting Kuvira. I mean, yea, itās not a bad idea to try to be diplomatic before knocking some heads together but.
The way how she reacted when she found out Suyin was going to assasinate Kuvira.
Whatās she so afraid of? Kuviraās obviously not going to back down. Suyin knows this, and Korraās realizing this. Is she afraid of making another enemy?
Thereās something more to this and itās not giving me a good feeling.
I think Korra is still a afraid of fighting and getting hurt. She has just recovered (still not 100%) and being asked to basically go into the Avatar State and rampage on Kuvira and her army. I think she still doubts her powers and her ability. Also keep in mind that Korra know nothing about Kuvira except that she was Su's top guard and that she saved her dad (all the threatning and reeucation camps stuff has only been withnessed by a few).
To me Korra's passiveness derives from her fear and uncertanty in her fighting skills (she lost 3 major fights + lost a Ā lot of fights to nobodys in the last 3 years)
What do you think?

Iām not really sure if anyone noticed but remember this scene when Kuvira was doing her speech?
Have you all ever heard that she said āEarth Empireā and not Earth Kingdom. This just comes to show that Kuvira really is batshit crazy about the whole āUnitingā the old Earth Kingdom and as well as being a dictator to the extent of changing its name. (Even if it was just one word)
To add on about Kuvira and her goal to be a dictator, remember the very last scene when Verrick was pumped up about the whole Spirit Vine? Well, most of you should or might have a clue what it is for.
Well to me, I believe its some sort of weapon against the Avatar. This kinda proves to me that sheās dead serious to eliminate anyone that is a hindrance to her plans.
So yeah, Kuviraās one crazy gal. :p
some have said that whatever Kuvira/Varrick are using the spirit vines for could anger the spirits and the cause a war between humans and spirits (technology and modernasation does have a price)
what scares me most about kuvira isnāt her personality, but the fact that she bent the gold medal like it was nothing
which is cool in all
except that gold is a step below platinum in terms of purity, and platinum was so pure not evenĀ TOPH could do it,
and she did it like it was a soda can
OMG I had not thought about that...it would make Kuvira sensing the leftover poison in Korra more probable
posting it again in black and white because iām indecisive and canāt commit to anything
still one of my favorite korra moments idk why but that shot ā CHILLS
It almost feels as though she either wanted to get hit (some people say she wants to feel pain to feel something) or that she is still weak fro the poison...like this moment where she wanted to get up but it seems as though she felt pain and passed out (more visible in the GIfs cuz of no sound) What do you think?
Wait a minuteā¦it took Korra THREE years to get better? ā¦.
And thatās just physically. Itās implied that sheās STILL suffering from PTSD.
This makes me hate Zaheer even more.
It breaks my heart that she is still haunted by her book 3 avatar self + fights her. Is it me or does she seem to bruise easily in the trailer? Could her body be weaker? Also she seems less muscular
I really like your second theory of her heading to Republic City first (do you think it took her 3 years to recover? and that she was away from the Krew all that time?) As I also think that White Lotus compound is possibly Zahereās prison. Not sure about the other Makorra location though (seems to be in RC because of the vines though).
I like the idea of her going undercover Gladiator style though I could also see her trying to cut all pas ties and going incognito with a different name and something pushes her back in the fight. Also what do you think about Bolin? He seems to be wearing the Zao Fu/Kuvira armour (could he have joined her army before she wanted to dominate everything (for Opal?) and now he is stuck in between? Or is he simply undercover with Korra as well? In any case he seems to be running away and fighting Mechas in the trailer.Ā
I can barely contain my excitement for this book!!!
Also I wanted to point out the pictures I copied are the HD ones from Dongbefungā¦crazy all the things that I missed in real action time!!
At this point, I donāt think it took Korra 3 years to get back into physical shape. Kataraās the best healer in the world after all. I think Korra watches the world go on peacefully without her while recovering which is why she goes on the journey alone under a new identity and look. So she passes by the desert, spirit portals, crescent island/the fire temple, and then eventually ends up in the earth kingdom. I think everyone agrees by now the White Lotus building is Zaheerās prison.
As for Bolin, he probably thought it was lonely living at the air temple alone so he took a job similar to Mako as a cop/guard but in the earth kingdom with their family (Grandma Yin and the others). Mako probably went back to sleeping at his apartment or work in Republic City. Asami probably has the Sato estate back. Bolin and just Tenzinās family would be kind of awkward for him I guess. Also Opalās traveling around with Air Jedi so she could probably just fly to Bolin whenever. Nothing there to really to motivate Bolin into joining Kuvira as far as I can see.
Iām still wondering if itās Kuvira fights Korra -> Korra in the swamp or vice versa. It makes more sense if you take Korraās backpack into account if she goes to the swamp first and then fights Kuvira. But maybe she just threw it on the floor before fighting Kuvira, though why would Kuvira let her have a backpack going to the swamp?
I have to admit that this new clip confused me with the chronological order of events. However if Korra is coming back shortly after the events of the clip (she must either do so with her long hair and cuts it off later one to possibly go undercover...or she comes back with short hair and we see a flashback of her cutting it and her last 3 years). Assuming this, I highly doubt that all the swamp scenes are in flashback which would suggest that not only did it take her 3 years to recuperate but she is still haunted by what happened. Poor Korra can't catch a break! Though I have to say she seems to bruise easily in the trailer...and seems a lot less muscular she may have had to relearn the elements (sequences of Southpole, lava, desert + earthkindom fight-club?)
What did you think ok older Asami and older Mako in the clip?

My first fanfic! (donāt worry I did my research going into this)
Title:Ā Found
Rating:Ā T
Word Count:Ā 3,468 (yooo I did not realize it was that big!)
Summary:Ā Based off what was seen in the Book 4 Trailer.Ā
Its been 3 years. No sign of Korra or the new earth avatar, if there is one. But Opal is not losing hope, and new information gives her the determination she needs to find the avatar.
Awesome!!! I could totally see something like that happening in Canon. You have me curious, why so you think Korra is fighting there? To get punished because she feels unworthy or to retrain and rebuild herself because the poison did so much damage to her (she does seem to have lost a lot of muscle...and bruise easily in the trailer)
I hope you plan on continuing this great story.
Excellent theory, However I have noticed that Korra is sporting similar injuries in her fight with what I am assuming is Kuvira (also see ripped top on her right side in both these images)
First image could be beginning of her bruised eye
Assuming she started the fight intact:
then in her fight against her book 3 avatar self she stills has the rip
and similar injuries in the swamp scenes
injuries similar in the Toph ārevealā scene as well (again same rip in shirt):
Also I think the Southpole, lava and desert pictures are a montage of Korra traveling to find herself (enlightenment journey)
What are your thoughts?
Oh yeah of course, this is why I named this post #2. My initial theory was that Korra found out about Kuvira taking over Zaofu from Opal. So she goes over and tries to beat her up. She loses a one on one with Kuvira, with Kuvira proving the Avatar is obsolete in Korraās eyes. Korra then gets taken and dumped into the desert via airship or something to die. So thatās where and when she wanders into the swamp. Also, yeah the desert, volcano and snowy pics look like they are from a montage from her traveling.
Still, the rip in her shirt could have been stitched up during her time with Toph.Ā Or maybe not at all and itās just shown off screen when sheās fresh vs Kuvira. And the scrapes on her face could be generic based on her fighting stance. (Sheās more likely to block with her left, thus more scrapes on the right of her face.)
Either way, second time around I went with her going to the swamp first, then Kuvira. Other key differences from this post to my prior ones (which are now deleted, I like this current one the best) are that her time in Republic City comes first. Then visiting Zaheer. Followed by her going undercover in the earth kingdom as to get closer to Kuvira by fighting in a earth bending arena. Think like the movie Gladiator. Her plan is to take away Kuviraās bending but it fails. Cut the head off and the body follows sort of plan. Didnāt make sense though when I compared her clothing from when she cut her hair. Also placed more emphasis on her learning a mastered form of metal bending from Toph to combat Hiroshi Satoās mechs which are the largest combatant vs benders.
As for her time in the swamp and versing Kuvira, Iām still sketchy about which comes first. Everything else seems likely to happen as posted.
I really like your second theory of her heading to Republic City first (do you think it took her 3 years to recover? and that she was away from the Krew all that time?) As I also think that White Lotus compound is possibly Zahere's prison.
