I'm so bad at writing my own stuff because my adhd brain has the need for immediate attention when it comes to writing so I've been struggling with this for like a decade and it JUST fucking hit me. I can publish it on ao3. Under original works. And just delete it if it ever gets publishable. WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THIS BEFORE.
For options, we've got:
1920s trans guy gets an evil demon dad and sacrifices more and more to try and keep his family unit safe.
Couple who keeps reincarnating into various time periods and murdering each other
Short story about the black death and fae tricks (this one hasn't been written yet)
Some really old finished children's story drafts I did in high school and haven't edited in over a decade
ohhhh rlly interested in the second one Eyes emoji
always liked the dynamic of I'll find you in every universe and Kick your fuckin ass in each one
Not so much ass-kicking as it is 'in every timeline we will destroy each other with the power of our love.'
Potential examples include: 'We were warriors on a battlefield together and I put you out of your pain when nothing else could be done' to 'I am a King and gone mad with power and you are the revolutionary who takes me out' or 'we were living in the wild west and I took a bullet for you so you razed the land with fury'
After one dies the other follows shortly most of the time, though on occasion one gets to live to old age before reincarnating. They're happiest with each other but the world is so complex it ultimately never works out.
Oh! One more idea I forgot to mention on the og: Alien supermarket designed to be 'human enrichment' like at a zoo has everyone teaching the new captured human philosophy to keep themselves sane. I will admit it's kind of TADC-based in terms of "small group isolated learning to coexist because they can't go anywhere else" but this one's more about how doing the same thing every day isn't enriching and is actually pretty fucking boring, so aliens need to get better practices.
