radblr hot takes? đĽ
what nuanced take do you feel easily shamed for on radblr?
Iâm not to fond of the âkill all menâ talk. I sympathize with the women here who feel that way, and I in no way want to minimize what men have put you through. And there are absolutely many men who should die. But this sentiment will not lead to actual reform. I understand the need for catharsis, but I think radblr should also be a space where we strategize for actual change. And that involves dealing and talking with men. Men wonât stop watching porn because we threaten to kill them. Men wonât stop using misogynistic slurs because we threaten to kill them. And maybe some of you dream of a revolution where each woman kills every man, but that isnât going to happen. So we need to start planning for what we can do.
If you are a woman, imagine this :
You are at home watching TV and on comes an advert. It features a young man having a drink with his male friends when they see a charming woman enter the bar. The man walks up to her and tries to seduce her but she ignores him. He looks back at his friends who are laughing at him. Suddenly, he leaves the bar and comes back later on with his hair dyed blue. The woman instantly throws herself at him, kissing him and all the men in the bar are stunned. âGo blueâ is the name of the hair dye brand, for men only. The next day on the radio you hear another advert promoting blue hair for men in which a woman explains why blue hair gets her instantly turned on. Going on Facebook, articles are shared : â10 reasons why men with blue hair are the sexiestâ. Another article is titled : âwhy women are turned off by natural hair colourâ. Yet another article from a website called âOpenMindNaturaScienceâ explains why womenâs brain is pleased with the colour blue and how this colour makes them happy because of biological reasons. On the subway, a poster shows a sexy man with blue hair running away from dozens of female models who all want a piece of him. Day after day the medias keep focusing on womenâs preferences, especially their attraction towards the colour blue and blue hair. And little by little, all the men around you dye their hair blue. The bus driver, the customer, your boss, your friend, the man on the street. They all have different shades of blue hair. Some are even dressed in blue, buy blue cars, wear blue make up.
And you see all these men and start thinking : âTheyâre so obviously trying to please us women, they know thatâs what we like, this is all for us. Look at this guy with his blue shoes and blue hair, obviously trying to get our attention⌠and this guy at work who pretends he doesnât like me, heâs wearing blue nail polish, heâs trying to look tough, he might not even like me but heâs still trying to please me. Theyâre working so hard to look good for us, this guy is rude but look at his blue hair ! He knows his place deep down. I go on the subway and I see all these men with blue hair, obviously responding to our desires, obviously interested in seducing us. All this time and money and keeping it perfectly blue every day. They think about us all the time. They are desperate to be liked by me. They ARE for ME.â
And thatâs how men see feminine women.
thinking abt how ive seen a bajillion ads for men to fix their broken ED dicks but literally nothing for female sexual dysfunction ever
also adding to this "slut shaming" is literally the stupidest word ever to use for shaming womens sexuality. imagine if homophobia was called "fag shaming". is anybody else seeing this
iâve been saying this for decades
i'm so tired of people excusing the fact that women somehow aren't responsible for patriarchy because they are. Yes, men are the main perpetrators but it only keeps happening because women continue to enable this type of behavior. How many times do you see mothers forcing their daughters/teenage girls to 'cover up' so that their male partner doesn't leave them for their daughter? Or what about all the times women force their toddlers into beauty pagents/dance shows where they're completely aware the main audience for this type of show is older men??? Not even to mention women who force beauty standards on their daughters, like making them shave their legs, put on makeup, extreme diets the moment they hit puberty and begin developing like a human being. There's so much more I could mention but that's at the top of my mind.
Obviously you can't deny that these beauty standards were set by men, but so many women participate and enable them. Stop blaming this on 'female socialization' and 'grooming by the patriarchy'. women today have ENDLESS many resources to learn how to not be abusive towards their daughters. These women have the option to get their daughters into a safer environment but they don't.

'The woman who checks her makeup half a dozen times a day to see if her foundation has caked or her mascara has run, who worries that the wind or the rain may spoil her hairdo, who looks frequently to see if her stockings have bagged at the ankle or who, feeling fat, monitors everything she eats, has become, just as surely as the inmate of the Panopticon, a self-policing subject, a self committed to a relentless self-surveillance. This self-surveillance is a form of obedience to patriarchy. It is also the reflection in woman's consciousness of the fact that she is under surveillance in ways that he is not, that whatever else she may become, she is importantly a body designed to please or to excite.'

This took me some 30+ hours to write/design/compile but it's finally done! If you're not a biologist, I strongly recommend you give this whole post a read (yes, it's long, but I think it has some very important information). Feel free to reference this post and repost the images anywhere to debunk bad gender science!

Does anyone know any newish radfem or rad leaning books? Like 2010's to present day.
'Invisible Women' by Caroline Criado Perez is an incredible book that everyone should read, first published 2019, about the way society is built around men in literally every aspect of life
'Pimp State' by Kat Banyard, first published 2016, is an amazing takedown of the six main myths that surround the sex trade
'Firebrand Feminism' by Breanne Fahs, first published 2018, interviews and looks into the lives of prominent Radical feminists Ti-Grace Atkinson, Kathie Sarachild, Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz and Dana Densmore, as well as discussing the basics and historic origins of radical feminism as a grass roots movement
'Spinning and Weaving : Radical Feminism for the 21st century' edited by Elizabeth Miller, first published 2021, is an anthology of various essays on topics such as porn, intersectional feminism, lesbian feminism, transgender politics and more (some are better than others, it's 600+ pages so I'm making my way through)
'Trans' by Helen Joyce, published 2021 - not so much radical feminism - moreso gender critical, as Joyce herself claims to be 'fiscally conservative' - and a few takes I don't quiet agree with but overall an excellent comprehensive discussion of the current and historical political climate of trans issues
Why Women Are Blamed For Everything by Dr Jessica Taylor, about the psychology of victim blaming. Grim but straightforward reading. Itâs been years since I read it, but also Natasha Walterâs Living Dolls, about the hypersexualisation of young women and return of misogyny as âempowermentâ. Also Testosterone Rex by Cordelia Fine, about the science of sex differences.
âThe Womenâs History of the Modern World: How Radicals, Rebels, and Everywomen Revolutionized the Last 200 Yearsâ by Rosalind Miles (2021)
âPolicing the Womb: Invisible Women and the Criminalization of Motherhoodâ by Michelle Goodwin (2020)

"The Baby Business: How Money, Science, and Politics Drive the Commerce of Conception" by Debora Spar (2006) is a little older but it's a fascinating critique of surrogacy and the fertility industry as a whole
One I saw going around was about women contributing to the objectification and sexualization of themselves and other women.
It's called; Female Chauvinist Pigs: Women and The Rise of Rauch Culture by Ariel Levy.
"Penile Imperialism
The Male Sex Right and Women's Subordination"
by Sheila Jeffreys
Came out last Fall. Amazing book because it covers current topics like consent, the rise of sexual kink, prostitution and transgenderism to name a few. I thought I won't read anything new after I read her book "Beauty and misogyny" (which is a must-read) but it's worth the buy. Clear, concise, critical and informative.

Delusions of Gender by Cordelia Fine (2005)
every single negative stereotype about women was dreamt up by men who were projecting. fight me about it.
âwomen canât driveâ
It is so well known that women are better and safer drivers than men that OUR CAR INSURANCE RATES ARE LOWER. Women get into fewer accidents, get fewer DUIs, and receive fewer speeding tickets than men.
âwomen never shut upâ
Several scientific studies have shown that not only do men talk more than women, they also think that women have been talking for much longer than they actually have. Men interrupt and talk over women, dominate conversations, and still think women talk too much.
âwomen are shallowâ
Lol next
âmy wife is my ball and chain lmaoâ
Multiple studies have shown that marriage between men and women: Increases male lifespan, decreases female lifespan Decreases male depression rates, increases female depression rates Decreases male stress levels, increases female stress levels Increases male health and happiness, decreases female health and happiness Increases a manâs chance of getting a raise or promotion, decreases a womanâs chances of getting a raise or promotion
âwomen are too emotionalâ
Men love to say this about women after hurting them, in order to shift the blame and dismiss their feelings in one go. In reality, women are taught to hold our tongues and control ourselves quite literally from birth. Weâre taught to put menâs needs and wants ahead of our own emotions regardless of the personal cost. Men are taught to do more or less whatever the fuck they want to women. Men take their emotions out on women while women are expected to shove theirs down.
I could go on and on but I donât really think I need to.
âwomen canât driveâ (The Guardian) (CBS News) (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety)
âwomen talk to muchâ (PBS, resources included)
âwomen are shallowâ (just read the book, Dataclysm. by okcupid founder (?) that includes data about sex, gender, race, in finding online romantic partners)
âball and chainâ (University of London)
for all you pissbabies crying about sources
Fucking finally.

You know what I'm sick of? It's actually not "healthy masculinity" to stand up for the vulnerable, or call out your peers, or whatever. Any of that stuff would be the healthy and right choice for anyone. Why do men need to be convinced with gendered language before they'll do the right thing? If a man does something supportive of women but refers back to his sense of gender identity as the justification, he's still just as absorbed in self worship and superiority as a man who openly acts entitled to women.
That one tweet that was like "we should scrap 95% of feminist theory so far because it's transphobic and wh*rephobic" vs that one post that was like "women are never allowed to build a literary/religious/theoretical canon for themselves because it's always forcibly reinvented every 30 years, women have no connection to or knowledge of feminist theory that has been formulated for literal centuries, all the while males have their revered Enlightenment philosophers and their Aristotle and Socrates and nobody is taking them away from men no matter how society changes or how "problematic" they were" and I'm too tired to formulate this more coherently but the truth is women and feminism are always suspended on thin ice with no celebrated intellectual heritage and tradition despite the fact that it obviously exists, and this is such a huge way women are alienated and disempowered
the way you're reacting to to criticism is so obviously triggered and childish. you're making it a personal fight because you have no ideological defenses. forget about radfemcroatia for a minute and actually try to defend having a boyfriend as a radfem... oh wait, you can't.
you can't defend having a male partner without making the not all men argument, but, dear, it is all men.
"good" men are only "good" in so much as they act better than "bad men". but when bad men rape, abuse, and kill women, the standard for good men are kept intentionally low.
becuase of this, men know they can basically get away with anything. he never does the dishes? well, at least he doesn't beat you. he made a 'joke' that hurt your feelings? well, at least he didn't rape you. this is what is meant when feminists say all men benefit from patriarchy + all men benefit from male violence.
this is radical feminism 101. pick up a book before you call yourself a radfem.
*sigh* this kind of purity policing is exactly what is alienating so many women from radical feminist spaces, even though they would need the resources most.
I wanted to talk about this anyways so here we go:
being a radfem has never required being a separatist.
full stop.
youâre acting like itâs some core tenet when itâs just one strand within the movement. kate millett was married to a man. andrea dworkin was married to a man. firestone dated men. if your version of radical feminism wouldâve kicked out the founders, maybe rethink it, because you might be engaging in historical gatekeeping and no true scotsman fallacies. movements are defined by their originators and core texts. now, who gets to define radical feminism? you, or the women who have coined the term?
trying to redefine âradfemâ as a label only for women who reject all contact with men is historical revisionism. it strips radical feminism of its political roots and turns it into a lifestyle identity. the original movement wasnât about personal virtue, it was about collective resistance. rewriting the label erases its history and silences/excludes the women who built it.
you can be a separatist and praise it all you want, more power to you, but don't try to change history or conflate radfem with female seperatist. and before you try to say "those women had to have male partners, it wasn't a choice back then because of different times!" - this argument rewrites history to force separatism into the definition of radical feminism, instead of acknowledging it as one of many strategies. the claim that early radical feminists "couldn't" be separatists ignores the fact that some were, even in the 1960s and 70s (like the radicalesbians or the furies collective).
my point is: even when separatism was possible, not all radical feminists chose it. firestone, the redstockings, dworkin, they had access to separatism and still didnât adopt it as a core of their politics. that proves it's optional, not essential. separatism is an individual and personal choice a woman makes in order to minimize all male harm to the best extent possible, it is a path some take, but itâs not the definition of the road.
a lot of blackpillers argue that the patriarchy is so all-encompassing that true resistance must involve separation but this stance is a philosophical standpoint, not a historical or definitional truth and also easily disproven by the actual diversity of thought and practice in radical feminist theory.
now put on your thinking caps and listen for a minute
radical feminism was coined in the late 1960s by women like the new york radical women and redstockings. they focused on dismantling male supremacy as a political system, not on moral purity or punishing individual women for how they survive under it.
many of these feminists dated men or were married, their feminism wasn't defined by their private relationships but by their commitment to systemic critique and resistance. separatism was one strand of thought, primarily pushed by lesbian feminists who were exhausted by male violence, but it was never a baseline requirement. In fact, groups like redstockings rejected bioessentialism ("We do not need to change ourselves, but to change men." - Redstockings Manifesto), they didnât believe men were born oppressive, but socialized through patriarchy.
Dworkin was even critical of female separatism, here is a passage of an interview On The Issues Magazine in the 1980s where she shows skepticism about separatism as a universal or mandatory strategy and prefers to focus on broader social change:
Interviewer: A lot of radical lesbian/feminist political argument against heterosexuality is that it is impossible to have any equity in heterosexual relationships because of the power differentials between men and women. There is an attempt through lesbian sexual politics to find equality in sexuality. Do you personally think thatâs possible?
AD: Itâs not my way of approaching it. I have never felt that lesbians per se were exempt from any of the power hierarchies that men and women also experience. I think that being powerless is not good for people, it hurts and damages them. So when you put two people who are powerless together, you donât necessarily get more equality except that theyâve both been hurt. Sometimes you get strength, and sometimes you get political conviction and commitment. Sometimes for the women themselves there is a tremendous sense of freedom and integrity but this is no panacea. You solve the problem out in the world or you donât solve it at all. People may find many personal islands in their own lives where they can experience some kind of reciprocity, and mutuality. I think some women find it with some men but itâs very hard because in the real world inequality exists.
Interviewer: So the separatist argument is not for you.
AD: Itâs never been a convincing argument. I really do see it as the ultimate personal solution and in that sense I reject it. I think that there has to be a complete change in gender. I donât think gender is real, I think gender is constructed. I am about ultimately redistributing power, and the redistribution of power means taking masculinity away from men. So when men say âfeminists want to castrate usâ, in a sense theyâre right. We see the artifice of gender and radical equality demands the kind of institutional change that will ultimately destroy gender. Thatâs what I hope, thatâs what I work for.
so no, again, dating a man doesnât disqualify you from being a radical feminist. radical feminism is about aligning with its values: naming male power, fighting for womenâs liberation, and analyzing the roots of oppression. Itâs not about living in perfect political conditions or purging yourself of anything tainted by patriarchy, because we all live under it. and I absolutely refuse to shoulder the burden of perfection. after all I'm still an individual that is seperate from the ideology. not all of my choices are automatically feminist just by the nature of me identifying as a radfem.
radical feminism critiques patriarchy, it doesn't label men as some innate evil species. thatâs not feminism, thatâs bioessentialism - which radical feminism opposes. patriarchy is a social structure, not something in male DNA. if it were "all men" by nature, then weâd be saying patriarchy is unchangeable, which defeats the entire point of liberation. here exactly is the point where we leap into blackpill territory again and that's exactly the point: youâre not quoting radical feminism. youâre quoting blackpill tumblr rhetoric.
thereâs a major difference between strategic separatism like koreaâs 4B movement and the kind of separatism often promoted on Tumblr. The 4B movement, which stands for "no dating, no sex, no marriage, no childbearing" is practiced by Korean women as a direct political response to deeply entrenched patriarchy, misogyny, and gender-based violence. Itâs not about personal moral purity or hating men as a class - itâs about collective refusal to participate in systems that exploit and endanger women. the women in 4B arenât just abstaining for abstinence's sake - theyâre rejecting institutions (like marriage) that in Korea come with real economic and legal penalties for women. and crucially, many 4B women also organize, educate, and advocate, they have material goals beyond abstention, which they hope to achieve, so they can have better lives.
meanwhile, Tumblr separatism often lacks this structural focus or even goals. It becomes a kind of personal purity ritual, "donât date men, donât talk to men, don't interact with men, or youâre not a real feminist." thereâs rarely a broader political project behind it. itâs mostly about individual abstaining, framed as resistance, but without any strategy to dismantle or change the structures that harm women. it ends up being fatalistic, assuming men canât change, patriarchy is eternal, and women can only survive by hiding. thatâs not feminism, thatâs surrendering. separatism without goals becomes a cage, not a movement.
saying "good men are only good because theyâre better than bad men" isnât insightful, itâs just shifting the goalposts until no man can ever be considered decent. and thatâs not analysis, thatâs again... fatalism.
if your feminism requires shaming women for having relationships or demanding we all go full hermit mode to be "valid" youâve missed the point. we live in patriarchy. being a radfem doesnât mean running away and trying to escape, it means understanding it, resisting it, and trying to change it.
stop trying to gatekeep a movement you clearly havenât studied. pick up a book yourself. or multiple, at that.
south korea is one of the most misogynistic âdemocraticâ countries. remember the femicides and the endless telegraph rings of men posting their wives and daughters? the arbitrary line drawn between prostitution and the porn industry and trafficking vs some âglobal elite pedophilesâ is just based on money and power.
every male has the capacity to be a trans woman. there is no difference between you sleeping w a male proclaiming heâs a woman and sleeping with a male whoâs fine with being a man. there is fundamentally no difference except one saying âi am thisâ. youâre not a lesbian. a âgirlcockâ is a penis. period. youâre not having sex with their essence or their mind or their identity. if you like penis, youâre not exclusively same sex attracted. youâre not a lesbian. and with pride month coming up, i donât wanna see yall âWOO HOO LESBIANS!â talking about a male in a wig

I find it interesting how I've seen even feminists take the "sex is inherently degrading" ideas that patriarchy pushes quite literally (because of who "fucks" and who "gets fucked") because obviously I know men think it is degrading for women but why should anyone listen to them? I think the solution to that is to attempt to create new models of sexuality which are healthy and based on pleasure and on a mutual desire to give each other pleasure.
Like, obviously being a lesbian makes me biased on this because of how lesbian sex dynamics are. But it also allows you to experience first hand that "getting fucked" or being the passive partner is not inherently degrading because you're the one there that is getting all the pleasure, you're the one there that the sex is all about, sex becomes an act of service to give YOU pleasure and make you have a good time. At the same time "fucking" or being the active partner is not inherently harmful because again, you're literally making another person feel good and that's all you're doing there, her pleasure is the point, you're the one providing it. This doesn't mean that there cannot be sexual abuse in lesbian relationships, but it does mean that there are ways to have sex that are not patriarchal power plays and that straight people/bi people in straight relationships and gay men also have access to. So we should build towards a more healthy model of sexuality for everyone rather than being bioessentalist about it.
