i've just thought about the fact that despite the amount of drawings i dedicated to 20kluts i've never done any fullbody ref sheets for the characters (and none of them had a proper colour pallet till this day...) so whaddaya think

to know that my illustrations can have such a convincing effect on someone means so much to me. i thank you from the bottom of my heart. i also want to notify you that The Mysterious Island is not only the sequel of Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas but a sequel of Verne's another book called In Search of the Castaways (or Captain Grant's Children). all three books belong to the same trilogy. chronologicaly you usually go like this: children -> leagues -> island. but it's not necessary. the plot of the children happens earlier (1864) than the plot of the leagues (1866) and their stories aren't connected but the third book of the trilogy The Mysterious Island connects some details from the both books.

to be honest i haven't read the island yet (but i'm on my way!) so i can't be 100% sure about that one particular book. however i enjoy both Captain Grant's Children and Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas.

the majority may find Verne's writing style too ponderous and all the scientific details too tiresome but it puts me into a state of ecstasy to be honest. i don't understand the half of the words but that's just somehow so enjoyable (the descriptions of marine life especially). his *sometimes too* detailed description help me to illustrate the moments more accurate (antique-scuba costume drawing wouldn't have existed without the exact description of it!)
