Because it's dangerous for the whole European Union, but it can be especially dangerous for minorities in the EU.
The EU wants to scan all of our messages (including these that are supposed to be E2E). Almost all countries support CC 2.0, 3 are against CC 2.0 but for CC 1.0 (which allows scanning DMs on Instagram, Discord, Xbox, emails on Gmail etc.) and only Italy is against all CC.
I'm scared for queers, disabled folks and racial & ethnic minorities in the EU. If the EU passes CC, governments will have easy access to all our messages. And governments will have an easier way to find out which accounts are owned by folks who are queer, disabled, POC or a part of ethnic minority. :(

I had no idea this was a thing, that's incredibly upsetting. We know that letting governments do automated scans is sure to target innocent content and that this doesnt help children be safe. Removing privacy for everyone and making way for mass surveillance is not gonna help anyone, that's fucking dangerous. I cant even imagine the impact this will have on minorities already targeted with "dangerous predators" rethoric, even aside from the fact that this allows for surveillance of all texts. My immediate reaction is also that queer kids and trans kids will be less able to get help when they're targeted and that any kid who is being abused wont be able to talk about it. Public platforms cant even ensure the safety of users on public posts which are already monitored.
Learn about the EU Chat Control proposal and contact your representatives to protect digital privacy and encryption.
Im surprised Italy is the only one against, both because there should be more pushback and also because I didnt think *italy* out of everyone would've been the one to say no.

I think trans women should be allowed to win competitions without being used as proof that trans women are “dominating” women’s sports and I think trans men should be allowed to have big roles in media without being used as proof that trans men benefit from male privilege. I think trans people should be allowed to succeed in life without being used as a way to claim that cis women are inherently the most disadvantaged, when usually those trans people fought just as hard (if not harder) to get where they are than their cisgendered peers. I don’t like how trans people have to fail in order to convince two-bit feminists not to attack us for a privilege that we don’t have.

Physical therapy is going GREAT. First time in my life I've ever been happy to be on a tread mill. Pre-surgery physical therapy had me suicidal but now holy shit I'm absolutely ecstatic. Gimme more please, it's gonna be my 3rd session in 3 days I am DELIGHTED. Might be my thing for forcemasc but being forced to give up the crutches even if I'm scared and feel too weak, my pt telling he doesn't care if it starts to hurt and that I need to keep going, getting off the treadmill lightheaded and still walking better than when I walked in is just fucking brilliant. 10/10 give me more, get me even stronger than I was before I got injured
