Do I think it's good storytelling? No, absolutely not. It was all over the place, introducing plot points that would have been better left alone and failing to tie up dangling threads that should have been addressed.

Do I think it was the most entertaining two and a half hours I've had in ages? Hell, yeah! The absurdity was half the fun for me, even though the storytelling was unsatisfying.

At the end of the day, this was a popcorn season to me (similar to a popcorn flick: you watch it because it's wildly entertaining, not because it's great cinema). This was a guy and his friends having the the best time RPing a system they weren't familiar with and just doing whatever felt funnest in the moment, and that made it so much fun. Breannan and the Intrepid Heroes laughed so much through the entire season, they were clearly having an absolute blast.

His selfishness, protective defensiveness, not-well thought out and unexplained decisions, acting in ways that many do not understand and can't justify with reason while still being someone that loves deeply and is loved by some as well, and by one at most. The consequences of learning about yourself as a white man after 100+ years of no introspection and how the change that occurs is not a clean one.

Yes, he'll still say stuff he shouldn't to a potentially powerful ally because they question a man he loves and literally won't be without. Yes, he'll still use generative AI cause he was never meant to suffer the consequences of that as he never felt remorse about like anything until a couple of months ago. He was literally sobbing while writing about his life and thinking about everything he's done and been.

He no longer wants that power that he came to San Francisco for. Just an easier life. And now he'll have that with the one person he wants to live in eternity with.

HJ Wingstreet doesn't know he's a character and it's the penultimate episode or finale of a show. It's just another night for the books and he's lived 100+ nights. I love that his whole thing wasn't neatly wrapped up for the sake of it being the end of the season.
