She can't forget her smile.
maybe in another life.
divine-conquerâ:
âOh good,â Marceline spoke as the woman assured her she was okay. Marci looked around at the scattered papers, a few being taken by the wind as she scurried to catch them. She summoned a few vines from her hands to catch them before they went too far. Walking back with the ones she caught, she tried to straighten them as best she could on her knee when she approached. âOh honey, if you only knew the things iâve gone and tripped on over the years. Iâm surprised this town hasnât labeled me a walking hazzard,â she teased, trying to bring a smile to the womanâs face to cheer her up. Bending down she tried to assemble the rest of what papers she could to lend a hand. âCanât say iâve seen you around, although I have been out of town a while. Are you new?â Marci asked curiously, unable to help herself.Â
Auroraâs attention snapped to the vines that appeared and snatched up the papers -- she had seen many powers over the years but... it still always threw her off seeing something like that for the first time. A small smile slid over her face as Marceline handed them back to her. âThank you so much.â she said clutching the papers for a moment before shoving them into the folder and then back into her bag. âWell, see now, I need to know what the most ridiculous thing you tripped over was.â Brown eyes danced over the smaller woman with a tiny smile. Slowly she stood back up and nodded her head now that the papers were all back in their bag and organized -- ish. âYes, I just got into town a couple weeks ago. Still sort of learning the lay of the land.â
divine-conquerâ:
Luke nodded when he heard she was fine, looking back in the direction of the harasser to make sure he was gone before adjusting his body to face the woman. He considered her offer for a moment as his breath caught up with him, not that it was much exertion to rough up the idiot, but calming his temper down was his first priority. âNot really used to getting thanks, but how could I say no?â he offered with a light smile, rubbing the back of his head a bit before following her to the bar. His eyebrow quirked up in curiosity when she ordered a Black Russian, not hearing that drink order in quite some time, honestly since heâd left Europe. âInteresting choice,â he smirked before moving his attention to the bartender, âIâll just have a Jack and Coke, thanks.â When she mentioned the station his mind, previously occupied with his own temper triggered his memory, âOh yea, youâre right. FBI right?â
Aurora stood still as she watched him contemplate the offer but a small smile tugged on her lip. âDo people not normally say thanks when you do something to protect them from bullies?â she asked slowly tilting her head before they moved to the bar. âI enjoy vodka, always, and its never to late for any form of coffee.â Honestly, Aurora rarely ever slept if she was honest, she was always up working on something and tonight would be no different in the long run. For now sheâd enjoy talking to this man and her drink then -- at some point sheâd end up back home working. âMmmhmâ she said slowly nodding her head, âYes, Came here looking for one of my charges; work wants me to do some other things here before I head back.â

âRight. Well simple terms is the thing that makes the power go was not working, but now it is. The part replaced wasnât that expensive so it would all add up to one hundred and fifty euros.â Alekâs offer to fix anything else for Ava really only had to do with avoiding going back home right now, she would much rather tinker with peoples simple machine problems instead of going back there. Especially since machines didnât talk back to her and cause more problems than she needed right now. Following Avaâs line of sight to the pool did deter her want to fix whatever it was, but a hot tub didnât sound like it would be too much of a problem. All she would have to do was give the pool a wide berth. Maybe not making any eye contact with it would help to. âIf you insist on paying for it I wonât stop you, in all honesty I just want more projects to work on since I genuinely enjoy them.â The issue thankfully sounded like she was not going to need to be near the water, which was a good start. âIt could most likely be the pump, I canât be too sure unless I get a hand on it though. As soon as I touch it I can tell you exactly what the problem is and fix it. Mind directing to the hot tub?â
Ava slowly nodded her head making a mental note about the price for future reference and how much she would need to pay Alek. Seeing the small moment of questioning in Alek's eyes made Ava cock her head to one side. She didn't know what was going on, and she wasn't going to ask, she'd let Alek talk about it if it was needed. A small smile spread over her lips and she nodded. It was weird to Ava to not pay for things, even if it was offered. She just -- was it guilt? She wasn't totally sure, she just felt people deserved money for the things they did. "Well, if you ever want to tinker around feel free to come over whenever. There are always things needing work here. When you run a whole business out of your house -- and with all the things I have." she rubbed the back of her neck as she started to walk. "Yeah, this way." She motioned. The club was closed for the day; it was a cleaning day. Once a week they did a super deep clean of everything. They cleaned every day and tried to clean between every couple that came through, but just to be extra sure they did deep cleans once a week. So her employees were wandering around wiping down all the furniture and moping the floor. "So just touching it tells you what's wrong?"

Daniel nodded, relaxing a little as Aurora explained the situation in a little more detail. He still hated the idea of a demigod being missing of course, but it sounded like the situation was at least different from what heâd initially feared. âMakes sense - if thereâs anything I can do to help, let me know, yeah?â Not that he expected there was any thing he really could do, but he wouldâve felt awful if he hadnât at least offered. âOh! Erm - I was rehearsing for an audition, yeah. I got a little sidetracked though,â he admitted sheepishly. Pirouettes werenât exactly a key feature in the choreography for the show that was coming up, but when it was just him and the stage he had a bit of a habit of dancing however suited his mood best before getting into the specifics of what he was supposed to be working on. âWeâll be putting on a production of Hairspray. Or, well, the theatre will be. I s'pose I havenât been cast, just yet.â It would come as quite a shock if he didnât get some sort of role in the show, but it seemed rather cocky to say something like that.
"I appreciate that," Aurora said with a small smile as she bowed her head in thanks. "Just keep an eye out for her and call me if you spot her?" she flipped out a business card and handed it over to Daniel a small smile on her lips. It was a simple card with the FBI logo in the corner and Aurora's name and number. Nothing else. Super simple. "Oh?" she hummed out and sat down on the piano's stool with a small grin. "Hairspray! I haven't ever seen a live production of that one, just the movie versions." She hummed, "Who will you be auditioning for?" she asked and turned in the seat to tap a few keys playing a rough version of you can't stop the beat. "I doubt I'll still be around when the show actually goes -- but I do hope you get a role you're wanting."

âDo you need me to spell it for you? LâŚ.. OâŚ. I think thereâs another O in there somewhereâŚâ Her brow furrowed adorably for a moment before she gave up on spelling the word with a shrug. âYou know what I mean. The point is⌠You need to be more chill. You showed up here and you looked like you had⌠Had a stick up your butt.â Kass frowned, looking towards Aurora, part of her fully connecting the dots that Aurora was still here on the Isle. âYouâre pulling a me, arenât you?â She chuckled then, beginning to fully giggle. âA meâŚ.. Mario!â
Aurora couldn't stop herself from snickering as Kass tried to spell the word only to give up after two letters. Shaking her head slowly she glanced up to the blue sky then slowly back over to Kass as the other spoke. "I was looking for someone who had been kidnapped and brought here. I was tense... running into you was a surprise too..." she trailed off and then sat up resting her arms on her propped-up knees. "Pulling a you?" she asked snorting, "What do you mean by that?" she glanced sideways at Kaass before shaking her head at how goofy and drunk Kass was. Spotting the bottle in Kass' hand she plucked it from her and went to set it off to the side so she didn't spill anymore of the drink when she caught a whiff. "blackberry?" she asked as she lifted it to her nose before taking a tiny sip of it just to see what it tasted like. She doubted Kass would care with how tipsy she was.

âOkay, but even if itâs not your jurisdiction, donât you care or anything?â Trafficking was not a happy topic, to Yonaâs recollection, so her expression fell a little. She did not really know anything about that in relation to Icaria, though. If it was different than the resolved kidnappings⌠Maybe she did not want to ask too many questions from this particular authority figure. If she got in trouble out of this somehow, she did not want it to be for asking suspicious questions. Aurora seemed to have some strange priorities and opinions that were either really guarded or remarkably ambivalent. Yona thought that was both very cool and very weird. âAw, man. Would have been cool if you did know. But nah, my dad doesnât have any secret animal-talking powers that I know about. I canât even talk to ghosts, though. Which is a good thing. You canât talk to ghosts or animals, Iâm guessing?â In the short time that Yona had known her brother, she had decided that nothing good could come from being able to interact with ghosts. They sounded super intrusive. Her friend Bel seemed to have a better handle on ghost-talk, though.
"Of course I care, I just can't -- take time to investigate a murder by a god when my focus is on the traffickers and the kidnappings that happen. The murder -- that's on the local cops here to figure out." She shrugged. "Honestly, I'll admire the cops here if they can figure out how to persecute or punish a god for a murder." Aurora chuckled shaking her head. Aurora slowly nodded her head as Yona spoke rather curious about this girl. She was -- interesting to say the least. "Maybe so." She chuckled. "I could guess better the closer we became as friends, but until then." She shrugged, lifting one shoulder. "No, no talking to ghosts or animals. My mother is Nike. So I'm able to give or take away success. But that's about it. At least that I know of." Aurora wouldn't be surprised if there was more to her abilities but only having found out about her other half a couple years ago..... she was behind.

âWhen youâve lived here long enough, you come to recognise every face on the island. Also, yâknow, the crystal sortaâ blaring out your need for something settling right now.ââ Sam replied with a shrug, and she watched as the crystal was taken away from her, a rather good thing. It didnât bode well to be in the possession of a crystal that didnât want you. âNot that often, honestly. I tend to not care either, but I couldnât really ignore it.â
Aurora just nodded her head rather slowly as Sam explained her reasoning. Of course, the people on the Isle instantly recognized her as an outsider. How could she not stand out? A small smile spread over her lips as she flipped the crystal over in her hand once more feeling its rough edges digging into her skin. "Makes sense," she muttered before glancing back up to Sam. "Well, if it makes you feel better, I'm not just new here, I was searching for someone -- only to find two someone who --- let's just say it's been drama, so I will happily take anything that offers a calm mind or sensation." She slipped the rock not her pocket and smiled at Sam, "Aurora." she said offering her name.

âOh. okay.â Chloe wrinkled her brow, not sure if she was really allowed to make mistakes or if Ava was just being nice. Like, sure, technically she could do whatever she wanted because life was like that, but Chloe tried to respect the rules of society and manners. But then she reconsidered, thinking that nobody could become a kinder person without having to change. She would permit this. âI donât, uhm, know if thatâs too much to unpack right now, if Iâm honest. Everything Iâve mentioned, and, uh, insecurity about the future and my place in it. Which⌠that was a lot fewer words than I expected to need, actually, but thatâs the, you know, tip of the iceberg.â Chloe supposed there was a lot to delve into, but she had a burst of relief for being able to come up with a concise explanation for what the problem was. The future! She was scared of what was going to happen there! Oh, she was so relieved. âSure. I canât promise that I will be terrifically hungry, but it sounds like you do need food, and I will probably need some eventually. Did you have anywhere in mind?â
"If it feels like too much, or you don't feel comfortable, don't unload it. But please know -- I'm your friend and I'm here for you. Sure I got therapy training and whatnot behind me -- but I'm your friend and I just want to help." She reached out and touched Chloe's hand with a delicate smile. "Insecurity about your place in your future?" she asked cocking her head to the side. "The future..." she leaned back looking up at the sky, "It's -- exhausting to think about, but remember, your future is what you make of it. Your future is yours to take hold of. It's yours to control. Just -- remember YOU control how you react to things that happen to you, which means you control how your future goes." she tapped her lips. "Wish You Were Beer is just around the corner," she said with a bit of a shrug as she pushed herself up. It was a good enough place to go to get something too much on. Once they were walking she looked over at Chloe. "Have you ever written down a list of the things you can control from the things that are stressing you out?" she asked, "It sounds weird, but writing those things down and can really help to --- let go. Once you look at the list of what you can do to deal with the stress on your shoulders it makes it so much easier to deal with what you can't."
nocturnal-nessâ:
âDonât be silly.â Ness waved him off, a smile on her face which showed that she really didnât mind that he didnât know that she was the editor. âI donât tend to tell many people what I do, perhaps I think that they wonât like me as much? Wonât talk to me? I donât know, journalist and all that.â She spoke with a shrug, before then nodding. âMhm, yes, I do.â She spoke. The smile stayed on her face as the topic went to the flower shop, and she nodded. âi can imagine! I love having a vase in the office, let alone having the scent flowing all the way down in the air, it must be really lovely.â As the glass was handed over to her, Ness brought the hot chocolate up to her lips and she took a small sip, surprising herself that it wasnât too hot, and was actually at a drinkable temperature. âWow! This is amazing Kai!â
Kai nodded as he took a sip of the hot chocolate he made for them both. Was it odd he was surprised how good it was? Only a bit. It was something he only made every once in a while and it always made him happy to drink it. âWhy wouldnât they like you? Youâre a delight to talk to. Even if you are a journalist; that shouldnât be off putting.â He rolled his eyes at the thought that people would be weirded out or not be as friendly because of someoneâs job. He dropped a peppermint spoon into her cup to let her stir it up and slowly change the flavor to peppermint hot chocolate. âIt really can be, I sometimes just keep the front door ajar to let the smell waft in. I just wish there was a way I could get it to fill the whole library. And thank you! Iâve perfected it over the years.â
torimetaxasâ:
âBet weâd get a lot of weird responses if we put out an ad for this or something.â Tori was really glad that she had a particularly affectionate ferret because Sue was having the time of her life being touched and playing with a stranger. She would have been jealous⌠except she wasnât really a jealous person, and was sure that there was enough room in Sueâs life to give her attention later. It would be interesting to see how much this wore out Sue, though. âThen it shouldnât be that difficult a decision. As long as you donât bring home whatever you think is too many ferrets. The little panda ones are so funny, but Iâm glad I donât have one because Iâd probably just laugh at mine and hurt its feelings.â
"The weirdest responses." Jolene chuckled as she pushed herself off the floor and brushed her pants off, "It shouldn't be but -- seriously, they're all so precious, how do you choose just one?" she asked as Sue hopped up onto her leg, basically trying to climb up her. "Laugh at them?" she chuckled as she bent down and picked up Sue, letting the ferret wiggle its way onto her shoulders. She could see how she would just... laugh at any ferret she had. They were so strange and goofy. The ferret bounced around before basically jumping off her and onto Tori. "I hate to take all your time --" she said smiling at Tori and Sue her words dropping off as Sue playfully nipped at her fingers and she scrunched up her nose making a face at the little ferret.Â
jxck-cxrlyleâ:
âHey, as long as you change it back at some point, do what you want with their hair. Itâd be hilarious to see Sashaâs reaction.â Jack laughed, picturing it already, his Russian paramour steaming because her daughter and son had blue and green hair respectively. âIâm not sure on him yet, but his name is Peter. Heâs still a trainee so weâll see how he goes. Heâs still new.â Jack shrugged, before his phone was then in his hand, and Jasmine was cooing over the pictures of his children. âTheyâre like weeds, I donât think theyâll ever stop going. Almost five months now, itâs ridiculous. How time goes so fast.â he spoke, before slipping his phone in his pocket. At the wiggling of her finger, Jack groaned and dropped his head back, gently nudging his leg out to kick her in the ankle - very softly of course. âWeâre just settling into being parents, letâs not make it even more complicated.â
âI could change it back whenever I wanted, hell if I wanted⌠I could change their hair color right now.â Jasmine wiggled her eyebrows at Jack, âBut Iâll save it so you can see her reaction in person.â She figured itâd be mean to change it if he wasnât there when clearly he thought itâd be funny to see her get wigged out over their hair just magically changing colors. âPeter.â she said with a small nod. âHopefully heâs a good seed and not someone chaotic.â she lifted the coffee cup to her lips and took a long sip of it, one hand warming slowly as it gripped the cup. âFIVE MONTHS?â she squeaked, âGod where the fuck as the time gone?!â Jasmine let out the longest sigh and sunk her head down to the table. The groan Jack emitted made Jasmine lift her head back up and cock it to one side. âI mean, is it more complicated? Or does it solidify what youâre already thinking?â

Yona rolled her eyes and winked, playing along. âI have no doubts that youâd take good care of me. However, keeping me out of your chair will be the problem if my luck continues on like this. Try not to get too sick of me.â The worst part of the situation was having to sit still. She had a decent tolerance for pain, but she did not enjoy the process of getting her wound cleaned. âVote? Iâd also vote for you if you were up for something.â Tapping her foot in place to keep from fidgeting elsewhere, she tried to be good for a friend. âDonât worry- As an expert klutz, Iâll find a way to make this worse without trying. Want me to brainstorm how?â
Snorting a laugh Jasmine smiled at Yona, âI could never get sick of you. If that was possible it would have happened when we were much younger. Youâre stuck with me for better or worse now.â Jasmineâs hair turned a light shade of pink, a small sign of both happiness and maybe a little bit of embarrassment. âYouâd vote for me if i ran for some sort of office? I donât think Iâd be the best. Who knows what my policies would be beyond âthings need more color and you all need to talk moreââ She chuckled. âNO. I do not want you to make this worse, worse could mean ending up at the hospital and I would really rather not do that.â
flo-romanâ:
âYes! That sounds amazing!â Florence nodded, really already hyped up for this Dionysus sisters party, even though it was only a mere idea at this moment in time. She watched as the number was written onto the napkin, and she took it into her hand. âHow did you leave your phone at home?! I donât go anywhere without mine.â She grinned, before tapping the number in and leaving a dropped call on Eveâs phone. âThere, when you get home, save my number, and put me in your favourites.â
âWhen you want to avoid your motherâŚ.â She trailed off with a playful devious twinkle in her eye, âYou leave it at home. Otherwise Iâd feel obligated to answer and respond to her. If its at home.. Well âim so sorry mom! I couldnât find it this morning and I had to rush off to do xyz thing! So it got left behind.ââ Eve said putting on a show of faux sadness for forgetting her phone. âTotally will do! My birthday is coming up soon so I was already planning on throwing a huge party for it might as well get it started with my favorite sisters.â She teased poking Florenceâs side.
