maristelaâ:
âOkay,â Mari said, a little relieved to hear that nothing else had happened but still totally horrified at the situation overall. Protective and having a lot of feelings were definitely things that applied to Alek, and they werenât necessarily bad things, but - laid out like this it sure did feel that way. She looked at the clothes in front of them, but was having a hard time really focusing on shopping. For as much fun as the prospect had seemed a few minutes ago, staying in the shop for much longer really did feel like a terrible idea now. She had just agreed to stick around for a while though⌠now what? Sheâd never been the best liar, so making up an excuse for why she had to leave was probably out.
Yona put down what she had been holding, and decided that maybe shopping was a little less important than where the conversation had detoured. Swallowing, she turned in Mariâs direction. âHey,â she sighed, trying to sound... comforting? Kind? Like she hadnât just wrecked something. Being the bad guy sucked- she just wanted to be a good friend and make sure everything was okay. âMari, do you want to talk about this? Or anything? Iâm sure that some of how it went down was my fault. Alek definitely told me to fuck off. I canât keep my mouth shut to save my life.â She was almost certain that this was not an understatement. When things did not go her way, Yona resorted to lying because talking out of her own ass was ten times better than trying to ignore a situation. Surely something would have gone better if Yona had backed off or something.Â
