i pulled the sword from the stone but got shy and put it back. hope nobody minds
I think that “rise and grind” culture is so irritating to me because a lot of times it’s only framed to be accessible to neurotypical people. Like people whose only obstacle is their own laziness, and not mental illness, or money, or chronic illness.
Not to mention it feeds into the societal concept of “your day was worthless if you weren’t performing at Maximum Productivity™”, so people get into this ‘rise and grind’ mindset of
1. Wake up 2. Drive yourself into the dirt cramming as much “productivity” into your day as possible, possibly even to your own detriment 3. Sleep, rinse, repeat
I heard someone on TikTok the other day literally berating people for, get this,
getting eight hours of sleep.
His explanation was “Eight hours only leaves you with 16 hours to be productive, not to mention eating, showering, cleaning…” as if your only priority in life should be how much money you can make, or how much production you can pump into the Capitalist Machine™. It’s seriously sickening, and it’s harmful to all of us as a society, as well as to the individuals.

I hate this body. I want to tear it to shreds.
found this
My entire existence is wrong. I’m way too sensitive. I get too attached. I’m clingy and annoying. All my misery is not because of other people, it’s because of me, because of the way I am. It’s not their problem that I’m all of the above. The problem begins with me and will only end with me
me giving relationship advice: communicate or end it

Anne Sexton, ‘The Addict’
the only famous person that was right about the pandemic was francesco guccini when he said “no we will not be better after covid. and we will learn nothing from it because man never learns. it is human nature to forget about tragedy as soon as it is over and to resume life as if nothing happened”
