also these are not ranked in any specific order bc my friends wrote these and i’m not gonna pit them against each other. they’re all good and you should read them!

“Well, Rainer, you know, normally, I do. But not about this particular thing!”

During this whole conversation, the Firbolg had been silently rereading Fitzroy’s poem.

“...Who give a shit,” he finally spoke up. 

one of the orig maplekeene fics, and one of the goodies as always. hartley writes such funny dialogue and he honestly inspired me to write more maplekeene once i got back into the hyperfixation. “who give a shit” is more of an iconic firbolg line than anything justin has ever said in the podcast, and you can fight me on that one. if you haven’t read this fic then you are Late. absolutely adore all of hartley’s maplekeene fics too, so if you haven’t read his work start w this one and then read all of them <3

MATURE RATING ON THIS ONE SO IF UR A BABYCHILD MAYBE DON’T READ. it’s not Explicit explicit but it Kinda references fucking. honestly a staple of the magcu set of fics, and personally one of my favorites. matthew writes internal dialogue really well and i enjoy his use of motifs. i return to this fic whenever i’m feeling down bc i just. idk i really like matthew’s writing. also magcu maplekeene just feeds the pining brain hehehehe helps me w ssoss mindset tbh. very good fic!!!!! highly recommend

VERY GOOD FIC!!!!! i miss pebble’s writing so much. i read xyr fics Long before i actually met xem, tho this is one xe wrote later on when we were already friends. lil m’s fics are just so heartwarming oh my goodness. xe also write argo really well!!! you can feel the kinnie in it ghrbjhbgrrghj. honestly i just really love character studies and this is a really good one!!! it’s also pining which is swag! read pebble’s fics!!!!!!! support my little me <3333

this is how episode 17 should have gone 

an episode 17 re-write that is gayer and much better than canon imo. once again, i just really enjoy matthew’s writing for fitzroy (and for argo!!!! he has a very solid grasp on both characters). i really appreciate the silent pining and conflicted feelings ohhhhh it makes me go insane. everyone likes to say im the god of maplekeene pining, but matthew will drag these two boys along until the heat death of the universe. very good fic 10/10 love my bestie’s work <333333

5. Bloom by Ember360 aka pebble again

And that means that when people treat them the way they would a celebrity who’s fame has put them above everyone else, it can seem kind of weird? Because there’s a good chance they’ll see or just be generally aware of how people treat them online? (And I don’t think the answer to this is ‘be creepy about them in private’ because you’re still... being creepy about another human being. It’s not about whether they do see it or not. It’s about whether if they were to know about it, they’d be uncomfortable)

While I personally think all RPF is creepy, (excluding exceptions like the Achievement Hunter crew who encourages fanfic but have set boundaries (eg some of them don’t want their wives or children to be written about)) it’s an entire other level when I’ve literally seen people write RPF about voice actors who even have their own Ao3 accounts, and that just seems so invasive to their personal lives? I’ve seen people on tumblr name their podcast sideblogs with voice actors full actual names, not the character, the person themslves, and it’s often VA’s who have their own tumblr accounts.

Taako in canon has said he doesn't like being objectified and Wants to be taken seriously but since y'all love fetishizing gay men I only ever see him portrayed as this hyper feminine flaming homosexual who loves sex. (Which is fine to be but y'all be pushing this super harmful sterotypes on a character who directly contradicts it)

Ooooh boy okay so I am working off. Limited knowledge for EOS 10 since I never listened to more than a few episodes, but after asking around some friends here’s what I gathered:

I don’t have the screenshots for it since these were done via tumblr asks to the creator like 2+ years ago (if someone has them, feel free to add them on), but within the show autism is referred to as a “pretty devastating neurological disorder”. Obviously autistic fans of the show were concerned by this and reached out to the creator, and he responded Badly, something along the lines of “my brother is autistic and it ruined my family so I think there should be a cure for it”, and went on to insult autistic fans who were hurt by this, several of whom were minors.

The love interest for the main character was written out after the (second or third? My friends answering were unsure) season because the actor playing him was accused of sexual assault. Which, good that they wrote him out, but Y’know. Still in the show.

After delaying the release for a very long time, they then made the fourth season only accessible behind a paywall, and would become public after a further year.

I think there was some other stuff but that’s all I was able to gather as someone who only listened to the first few eps and saw the fallout of the rest happen second hand via pod tumblr (which was a lot smaller at the time)

As for King Falls AM, a show I really enjoyed at the time (over two years ago) and now look back on with regret:

The creators are notoriously shitty, recently coming into the spotlight again after one saw fans talking about “death of the author” in regards to the show and got very angry, not knowing what the term meant and deciding it meant they were issuing him death threats. When he vagued about this on twitter and fans tried to inform him he ignored them (possibly blocked? Not sure on that part)

Banned people from their official discord for saying stuff like ‘hey I like the show but I find (x) part offensive or think you could have done (y) better’ because ‘it’s our show and if you don’t like it stop listening’

One of the characters is named ‘Glinda the Racist Witch’. That’s the punchline. She is a witch who is racist and serves no plot purpose. This is written by two white men

Appropriation of Native American stuff (skinwalkers) and as far as I remember also having the ‘wise old native man who only exists to guide the protagonist’ trope (played by a white man)

The predatory lesbian trope, where the protag’s fiancé’s sister keeps hitting on the other protag’s girlfriend even when she knows she’s in a relationship (and presumably straight)

Just... not good at writing female characters. It got better apparently but it was a lot of ‘one female character and she’s a damsel in distress’ and then later gave the women a plot about how all the men in town were in an anti feminist cult that they got to attack, I guess for Girl Power Reasons to make up for the bad writing earlier?

Again I’m sure there’s more I don’t remember/didn’t listen to enough to hear (though I listened up to like 75) for KFAM and again if you know something specific feel free to add on.
