Sirius and Regulus’ death
Sirius didn’t know that Regulus had died until a few months, maybe even nearly a year later
Before Regulus died in the cave, he probably told Kreacher to hide to Walburga what happened
He was drowned by the Inferi
There never was a body to put in a cemetry
And Walburga didn’t bother telling Sirius about this because they don’t talk anymore and hate each other
And there were so many deaths during the war, the newspapers were full and Sirius never read this part because the people he knew and presently cared about were around him, so if one of them died he would’ve known before the news
And don’t get me wrong, Sirius still loved his brother
In fact, he loved him more than anyone, but it was a love that hurt and he never talked about it to his friends
And he never really thought about how it would be possible that he would outlive his little brother, so he never checked for Regulus’ name
Sirius learned about Regulus’ death from Alastor Moody
He locked himself in his room for three days and cried non-stop
Remus and James were the only ones allowed to come in
They both honestly thought that Sirius wouldn’t survive this grief
Sirius wouldn’t eat or drink anything, he was nearly force-fed by them
What drove him mad is that he didn’t even know anything
He didn’t exactly know when he died, where and how
And he felt so much guilt, so much sadness and so much anger all at the same time
Guilt because he left Regulus, his little brother, in a violent and unloving household, and that if he took him at the Potters, maybe he wouldn’t have died
Anger towards himself, towards his parents, towards Voldemort, even a bit towards Regulus even if he would never admit it, anger towards the whole world
Regulus’ death completely broke Sirius, and he never got over it
