Dick and his alpha freeze at the cut off sob. Technically the omega took his apology cake but just based on his micro expressions and obvious hurt... It was bad. The omega was hurt beyond what Dick is used to. It only made his alpha more determined to help. Dick had to help that omega nest.
Now just to figure out how to do that without making the omega feel pressured-obligated.
Taking a deep breath he forces himself away from the door and paces while bringing up his phone to do research.
Contrary to popular belief Dick has never courted anyone properly. In his younger years older alphas, betas even an omega had come up to him grooming him in a way that he knows if he told Bruce now his foster-family alpha would go after them both as Batman and Bruce Wayne reigning down justice with everything in his power. He won't speak of it though feeling too ashamed he let it happen when he was Robin. And sure he knows that shouldn't matter, that a victim isn't responsible for their offenders actions but Dick feels like he's different. He should've seen it... He packs up the bad thoughts and tosses the box in the back of his head to forget.
Dick's relationship with Kori doesn't count as courting, she doesn't have a secondary gender. She may as well be a beta. Alien biology and all that. They didn't even last thanks to Mirage. His on and off again relationship with Barbara had fizzled out after Jason died and the beta had thought Dick cheated on her with... Well it doesn't matter the less said about...that situation.
So when Dick pulls up the wiki page to courting sensitive omegas he feels a great twist in his stomach. It's a weird mixture of clinical-joking information. Dick backs out of the page and tosses his phone to the couch. Despite his intention to nest with the omega he really doesn't want to put that kind of pressure on him. The omega deserves far greater than what Dick can provide. Dick hasn't even checked himself after what happened. For all he could know she left something and if something did happen between them then Dick would feel horrible.
Which is a thought really because when he thinks of the omega next door he thinks of all the wholesome moments they could have and brief visions of a swole belly and pup pop in. It's terrifying as it is comforting. His alpha rumbles pleased, twisting this way and that as if laying on a warm blanket by the fire. Dick indulges a little imagining the omega holding Dick to his bosom and running his fingers through his hair. Oh how he wishes..
Jason should have tossed the cake out. Which is why he curses himself out as he takes bites of Dick's cake like a starving animal. It's not pretty while he eats, smears of frosting and icing cover his cheeks, there's crumbs on his floor that he knows once he's disillusioned he's going to bitch over. Alfred would cry and Talia would sneer if they saw Jason now. He can't feel ashamed really because wow has he missed out.
His omega nearly presents but Jason pulls the chain that's around it to keep it from doing something so embarrassing. It's literally just cake there's nothing about it that deserves that kind of offer in return. Dick is just feeling guilty for spooking a packless omega. He doesn't even know it's him.
Jason stops at the thought and tears up. Why is he getting upset over it? It's what he wants, no? His omega that's laid on its side after being yanked let's out a pitiful whine. Jason starts to cry again, the cake suddenly tastes like ash and churns in his stomach. He knows he needs a pack especially a pack alpha but there's no one. Jason's all alone and he knows even though Talia saved him she'd just toss him back to Bruce. Jason doesn't want to go back to them. He doesn't feel safe there. A forced bond like that would be disastrous.
Clutching the container of cake closer Jason glances at the door wondering if Dick could just ... If he could form a secret bond.
It's not unheard of to have a smaller pack. There are such things as family packs, friend packs, pup packs, and working packs. A rare and unspoken one is a secret pack but those aren't always named that. It's usually a shameful thing but all Jason needs is a bite to his neck and some scenting. Jason won't bite Dick back so he doesn't have to carry a shameful secret so exposed. That's usually how affairs are found out and Jason isn't trying to get him in trouble with Kori.
He just needs a bite to calm down. Maybe it's the sugar or talking to Dick but Jason feels a rush of courage to go to the alpha's door. He needs the alpha's help even if he shatters afterwards. Just something... Anything... He wants Dick.
His omega presents and Jason blinks. The illusion is shattered as Dick opens the door to the smell of omega in critical heat.
The last thought he has isn't even words, he screams at his stupid omega.

As he held him in his arms, Tim's eyes turned back to its natural baby blue color.
In his arms, he felt calm and at ease and in that moment, Tim felt he recovered a part of him he had thought was long lost.

I commissioned @birdskiss to make this jaytim piece based on my star wars AU. So happy she was so enthusiastic about the idea and nailed it of course <3!

More thoughts on this au which go hand in hand with Olive's second piece <3: In my mind, Red Hood dealt with Tim directly every now and then when the empire hired bounty hunters to do their dirty job (aka, track wanted criminals/rebels/etc). Jay had survived by mastering completely concealing his presence and used the Red Hood identity to keep a facade and the empire off of his turf. He only cared about protecting his people. It took one slip at a very dire situation to be spotted by a Sith Lord. Nonetheless, he still escaped with no questions asked and no empire army chasing him... after that he thought long and hard. Maybe his presence (and force affinity) hadn't been discovered after all. He remained extra cautious though.
Tim would go out of his way to ensure he was usually the one dealing with Red Hood because if someone else -someone truly loyal to the emperor -discovered Jay was a former padawan... they would absolutely track him down and they would not stop until they killed him.
Neither said anything for a long time.
