JayTim Week: 10 years later and nothing's really changed.
Hi, is it okay to post a fic one day before the date assigned to the chosen prompt?
For more context, I’d like to post a fic for Day 6’s prompt (the 24th) on the 23rd instead. I think it would make the ending more exciting! *-*
If that’s not possible, that’s okay. I’ll post it on the assigned day instead.
It iss entirely up to you. However, works shared on Tumblr and/or Bluesky will only be reblogged on the relevant day* for organization and archiving purposes. If you really want to post early, you're more than welcome to, however there's a much higher chance of your post being missed by mods doing reblogs on the day for the corresponding prompt. If you would like your fic to be reblogged by the event account, we recommend you reblog it on the correct day (with the tag #jaytimweek2026 or #jaytimweek).
*Fanworks posted late (after the relevant day or even after the week is over) will (hopefully) be reblogged when mods see them. It's only early works that need to be concerned.

When will the collection open?
Hi, thanks for asking! The collection for JayTim Week 2026 will be made/open on approximately June 18th (U.S. Pacific Time). We know people are eager (and anxious) to start posting as soon as possible, but part of the idea of a ship week is that it happens at a certain time.
Serious/anxious brain looks down upon your innocent sleeping form.
Brain: JayTim Week is coming.
You lying in bed, innocent and unconcerned, determined to be unbothered by your brain's anxious mutterings.
You: It's not until June, I have plenty of time.
Brain now stares straight ahead, the shadows under its eyes apparent.
Brain: It is already May.
You lie awake in the dark, your eyes bright pinpoints of panic in the dim. Your brain is right. You have only two short months (less, really) to prepare. It is coming. IT IS COMING.

Is it okay if the feelings are one sided? Like for the Soulmates but only one knows prompt?
As long as the focus is on JayTim (or TimJay!), this is fine. If you look through tags on AO3, you'll find there are so many unrequited JayTim (and TimJay) fics—as well as fics that start out unrequited and later become requited, or at least end with a hopeful/ambiguous ending.
Thanks for asking!

is no capes the same as civilian? (sorry for all the questions lol)
Generally, No Capes is used interchangeably with Civilian AU in DC fandom. However, since this is a prompt (rather than a tag on AO3) and part of the fun of prompts is how flexible they can be, I'd say an all-out science fiction AU would also count as long as no one's wearing capes. You could even chose to interpret it as being a canon divergence AU where everything is the same except capes just don't exist as a concept (though I'd recommend not using the No Capes tag in that case—readers would feel very confused and misled).
(No worries about the questions, though I guess I probably should have stuck them all in one post 😅)
can a high school AU count as a civilian au?
If you'd like it to! It could be a civilian AU, or an AU where only one of them is a civilian, or a story where Tim and/or Jason is undercover at a high school, or where one or both of them are teachers, or— As long as high school is involved in some way and there's some kind of AU, I'd say it's a high school AU.
Can the prompt "not what it looks like" be used as in "yes, it is what it looks like, but the character is saying it isn't" or is it more literal, as in genuinely not what it looks like?
The cool thing about all the prompts is that the interpretation is entirely up to the artist. So, in answer to your question: yes. It is both of the examples you gave (or neither, if you want it to be a something else).
Thanks for asking!

JayTim Week 2026
Hi! I'm sorry—English isn't my first language, but I'd love to participate in JayTim Week 😔 I write my stories in Spanish. Would that be okay, or would there be any issues with the language?
It's perfectly okay to participate in another language! In fact, if you check out the AO3 collection, you'll see yours would be far from the first Spanish fic submitted 😊
Thanks for asking!

can I spin the prompt wheel(s) and put 10 prompts together into a longer fic? i.e., a 10 chapter work with each chapter telling a larger story that meshes all 10 prompts into one fic? or should each prompt be separate? and is there a word threshold?
It's totally fine to combine your days into chapters of a larger story—plenty of people have done that before in the past so you would be far from the first. And there's no minimum or maximum word count you need to worry about—some people write drabbles, some people write multichapter longfic that's 20k or longer. You don't have to write fic to participate either—as the JayTim Week FAQ says, "All kinds of fanworks are acceptable! Fanfic, fanart, graphics, videos… The sky is the limit."
Thanks for the ask!
