@hyaenidaeful Y'know, I try my best to remind myself that people who think like this aren't worth the time or tears but it hurts sometimes, especially when you're already hurting from other shit and what they say really cuts deep when all you want is just more love in a community so collectively targeted. But yeah. Thank you. I think I just needed to hear what I try to tell myself often. But thank you.
The rest is a long rant that I think needs to be said. (Not directed at you btw, platonic hug 🫂:) <3 )
I'm more mad than I am sad no though..
Because have we learned nothing? I swear, people who think like this don't even thank Martha.
They don't thank the woman who have put their lives on the line for us, FOR ALL OF US.
They didn't fight for just one side of our community, they fought for all of us.
They fought for our collective right to be in public. Both as a trans and gay person, they fought for the entirety of the lgbtqia+ community.
They don't think about the trans men and the trans woman who have marched the streets and shed blood for our communities sake.
We have lost so many people to hatred and vitriol, and people like Martha have tried their fucking BEST to erase the individualism and bring us together as well as Sylvia.
We are brothers and sisters because we are related in the way that we call ourselves TRANS.
That is all that the people upstate see, they see "trans" and hate us. No matter what comes after.
You may hate your brothers, you may hate your sisters but it does not matter because in the end we are all still in this together.
It does not matter if you want your brothers dead, we still fucking care about you because you are our OWN.
We will die TOGETHER and those who came before either of us fucking HAVE.
"I'll bring you down with me" We were already going down hand in hand because they want us BOTH dead.
These people who think like this have lost sight of how our community began and WHY we call each other siblings.
This mantra that I have been taught since I was YOUNG, Something instilled in me since fucking 8 years old is that it does not matter how I feel towards a trans person. Because that is still my blood. That is still my family, that is someone I will lay my life for.
The reason we say we are related in blood is because of our trans ancestors who crawled on their hands and knees with their blood dragging behind them so we could fucking walk the streets. Those who came before who HAVE laid their LIVES for this community. For this family.
It does not matter, what side of trans you are.
You are transgender all the same, you may be transmasc or transfem but you are still TRANS.
And I think that's why a fellow trans person saying such hateful things even in their own "apology", that they still believe in separatism.
No one side of being trans in better.
We all look the same in a body bag.
It does not matter to them, they mock us all the same.
They HATE us all the same.
They have and will KILL us all the same.
So please, if you're reading this and you believe one side is ultimately better or worse.
It does not matter if you're transfem or transmasc.
Please remember people like Martha, and people like Sylvia and for the love of God..
Remember what the fuck they stood for.
"i will not put up with this shit, I have been beaten, I have had my nose broken. I have been thrown in jail, I have lost my job, I have lost my apartment for gay liberation and you all treat me this way, what the fucks wrong with you all. Think about that. I believe in the gay power, I believe in us getting our rights or else I would not be out there fighting for our rights."
Let me know of anymore trans ancestors, I'll continue learning more on my own but I'm always open.
And to end this properly so you do not forget what I am saying or what I personally stand for;
I love all of you, both my sisters and my brothers and all those in-between or out of the gender binary as a whole.
Thank you and God fucking bless.
