do you think youâd actually notice if someone didnât cast a shadow? or if their limbs were just slightly too long? or if they had just a little too many teeth? like how many times have you passed Something on the street and you just didnât Notice It
stay woke monsterfuckers ur love is out there!!!!!
yknow what? not my point at all in any way whatsoever, but Iâm glad I could be an inspiration
imagination (1963) - harold ordway rugg
"chekhovs cat / schrĂśdingers razor / occams gun"
Chekov's Cat: if you see a cat in the first act, it will probably be relevant later. (example: Alien)
Shrodinger's razor: an unopened box may or may not contain the solution to the story; there's no way to know without opening it. (example: Monk)
Occam's gun: the simplest way to kill off a character is to shoot them. (example: Bambi)
i have been cracking up at this for the past 3 minutes
Chekov's Box: If there is a container introduced in the opening act, it will be opened later.
Schrodinger's Gun: Treat every gun as if it's loaded unless you've checked it yourself.
Occam's Cat: If you hear strange noises at night, it's probably a cat.
steam repeatedly notifying you that a friend is booting up a game thats clearly not cooperating feels like ur sitting inside and someone outside keeps trying to rev up a lawnmower
kind of fascinating how a lot of people donât really know how food works
saw a twitter video of a dude making like fried broccoli with bacon or whatever and everyone in the replies was going âcanât believe he took something healthy and turned it into poison!!!!â i donât really know how to explain to you that youâre still eating broccoli, and the healthy nutrients do not magically leave the broccoli just because you fried it

this is what happens when they cut "When Love is Gone" from the Muppet Christmas Carol smh
today i had a very weird experience
the scene: Wrigley Field, Chicago.
the players: Me, a novelist and unpaid intern for a coffee company that gives all its profit to charity.
A Nice teacher named I think Claire
An older gentleman with hate in his heart
the precise circumstance: It's the eighth inning. The Chicago Cubs are losing 17-1. For those of you who don't watch baseball, a 17-1 game is not competitive. The game is over. They only continue playing because major league baseball has not yet adopted a Mercy Rule.
the event: The nice teacher named I think Claire stops me as I am returning to my seat from having visited the restroom. She says that she is a big fan of mine, and that she really loves my books, and asks if she can have a picture. I say of course. It is a genuine delight to meet Claire at this noncompetitive baseball game mostly notable for the pounding heat of Chicago summer.
And then the older gentleman with hate in his heart leaps up and shouts, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING? YOU'RE IN MY SIGHT LINE."
Apparently, Claire and I are blocking his view of one pitch of this blowout baseball game. I apologize to the man and explain that we're just taking a quick picture, and then he says something that I can't repeat on tumblr*, and then we take the picture and the encounter ends.
DO NOT BE LIKE THIS OLDER MAN WITH HATE IN HIS HEART. ALLOW PEOPLE TO TAKE PHOTOGRAPHS WITH UNPAID INTERNS DURING NONCOMPETITIVE MOMENTS IN NONCOMPETITIVE SPORTING EVENTS.
thank you for coming to my ted talk.
*Which is really saying something.
The Angel of Death
FISTS YOU
And then you Die
Context: my teacher translated the verb âto grasp with oneâs handâ as âto fistâ since thatâs kinda what it literally means, but you canât translate it like that into English because âto fistâ means something ENTIRELY different, but she doesnât know that.
So she was explaining how they use the verb to describe the angel of death taking your soul â he rips your soul out of you with his fist. Now thatâs pretty damn metal, but she said word for word âthe angel of death fists you, and then you dieâ which is the single most terrifying and powerful sentence to ever grace my ears
Op i appreciate the context but i was going to rb anyway no questions asked
No sorry this is not staying in the tags @academicgangster
we have to write poems in my creative writing certificate program, so I pieced something together from Belphie's medical reports
my professor really liked this and said that it should be 'the nucleus of a chapbook' (so like 15-30 poems of the same theme that I would attempt to get published) but now I feel awkward because I think that she thinks HE DIED? but it turns out, everything will be alright! his heart recovered! the FIP meds are working!
if I do make a chapbook, this will be the next page:
and then this will be the page after that:
I couldn't believe how fast he went from death's door to running and playing once we got the GS441525 into him. I am so incredibly grateful to everyone who's spent their time researching and legislating it!!
Belphie is over two years old now, and sometimes when I look at him, I still think he lived.

Men who talk shit about gold diggers underestimate the grit it takes to put up with an insufferable man, even when money is involved. We should be thanking them for their service like they are veterans.
Can't leave this in the tags..
ACCIDENTALLY LEFT MY MACERATED APPLE SYRUP ON THE STOVE AND IT CARAMELIZED I GUESS?
it was super thick and dark and golden and bubbly so i took it off the heat. happy accident.
tastes delicious so good. idk what to do with it though
thank you for your recommendation! with brief consideration, it has been disregarded.
i NEED people to realise foreshadowing is. in fact. a literary device. and not a Bad Thing. the audience picking up on your hints is a Good Thing. because. it makes the story and itâs conclusion make sense. and some people will not see those but enjoy seeing them on a second read through. red herrings are one thing but if your novel consists of nothing but red herrings itâs not a coherent story itâs just a collection of paragraphs that donât actually plausibly link to one another. you're not fighting with the audience you donât look clever you look like you donât know how basic fiction works. be vulnerable for once in your goddamn life and don't treat writing like a game to be won where the audience losing is a good thing.
Heyyy so⌠who wants some more suggestive bloodymaryâŚ

"Is there a reason we're going in circles? Why don't we just go forward?" Dude was expecting a white collar buzzword standing ovation.
it would suck being a new immortal. like itâd be 2109 and people would go, âwhat was it like seeing ancient civilizations rise and fall like that? seeing the pyramids being built? watching the expansion and growth of the new world?â and iâd just be like, ânoâŚno i was born in 1991. so like, wow iâm gonna see some cool stuff, but, i mean iâm not that much older than just a really, really old person, you know? phones were big back then. so big. but only for like ten years, then they got like, as good as they are now. uh. rhinos existed. donât think i ever saw one in person. cool, good talk.â
even worse, imagine being an immortal who keeps missing stuff. âWhat was it like seeing the pyramids being built?â âFuck if I know, I was in Madagascar.â âOh, okay. Well, how was the Renaissance?â âI fell down a hole in Scotland and people thought I was an enchanted well for four hundred years, it was over by the time I convinced someone to get me out.â
And now, a lesson in biases:
We barely know anything about Madagascar pre-500CE. We donât even know whether the island had a permanent population before then, despite finding a bunch of much older signs of temporary human presence.
Malagasy mythology makes mention of the vazimba, a âprecursorâ ethnic group that might or might not be distinct from Madagascarâs current population.
The point is, we do not know.
So you were in Madagascar when the pyramids were being built in Egypt, i.e. during one of the most obscure, most undocumented parts of Madagascarâs human history?
Oh, buddy, you better go and make a bunch of anthropologists and archeologists really happy RIGHT NOW instead of feeling bad about missing everyone elseâs pet Major Event.
Itâs been a decade since we left that comment and you have the best reply anyoneâs left to it.
