Any language learning app that is getting rid of actual people and using AI should be a big no at least because of this reason, even if you don’t care about the person being fired. Which you should by the way. Because that is my priority anyway.
AI can never replace human language teachers

stop using chatgpt!!!! take a bronze pin and carve your questions onto an ox scapula, then toss it into the fire!!!! use the cracks to divine the gods answer!!!!
citations still have to be APA 7th edition though. if you plagiarise, the gods will flood the yellow river again. and you'll lose your academic standing.

A great way to find vocab that's relevant to you is to read the wikipedia page for things you're already familiar with (your home city, a hobby, etc) in your target language ⭐ I'm on the Russian pages for my own home state and several neighbouring countries rn, and it's a lot more encouraging than a vocab list lemme tell you that much
The only reason I love the Korean language is because their alphabet (Hangul) is stupid easy, I love it so much. It just makes sense, it itches the right parts of my brain. I'm a linguaphile in the sense I love
The only other language to do that was Russian.
That's why I like Korean things because I get to see Hangul at work. On my Korean trip, I bought the most perfect keyboard - has Hangul on it. I am in love.
If I could eat the Korean alphabet, I would.
That is the sole reason I am learning Korean. I don't care about anything else, those are bonuses.
I think a language milestone that doesn't get talked about enough is being able to be funny in another language. Like you know you're making progress when you can start being sarcastic
Or sassing or using local slangs at just the right point for a joke 🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼
Im currently confident in my HSK 3 but yikes 🤧🤧🤧
Ive just caught up with yumenglong’s murder story and so TW for everyone if in case you do go looking up his story, he was brutally assaulted right before he fell to his death. I feel very strongly about murders covered up as suicide.
These are the IG handles of his murderers or accomplices. Please spread the word. He deserves to rest in peace and entertainment industry murders need to come to an end. Most of the posts related to his story are being taken down on the Chinese Internet. Only his fans and netizens can make sure that he gets justice now, don’t let them bury the story ✊🏼✊🏼✊🏼

Chinese History Timeline
There won't be a post this week (sorry, am finishing up a commission atm, should be done soon though), but I did make this Chinese history timeline in advance:
I realized that some dynasty names could be mixed up due to their pinyin being very similar (ex: Qin and Qing dynasty) and some time periods might be confusing because too many things were happening at once, so I thought it would be nice to give a timeline, and everyone could refer to it if needed.
(this timeline is translated from a nice visual I found online)
You need to be looking for sewing and drawing tutorials in Spanish, to watch baking tutorials in Russian or read the wikipedia article about the insect you've just discovered on your balcony in German ! You cannot watch Peppa pig in your target language forever.
Will knowing how to say "aiguille à tricoter" in French be useful for your exam ? Probably not, but who cares ? You're listening to spoken French AND you're learning a manual skill !
Youtube is full of wonderful tutorials in many languages, everything is there just waiting for you ...
And why stop at manual skills ? Philosophy ? History ? Astrology ? Hop hop hop, in your target language ! Want to learn something about Egypt ? The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona has a coursera course on it.
"But I won't understand anything" I personally prefer to understand 20% of a lecture about a sacred temple in the middle of the desert than understand 60% of the most boring standard "what do you like to eat for breakfast" textbook learning material.
