I had a PayPal in my dead name, and when I came out, started to transition and legally changed my name, I sent PayPal the documents to correct my account.

5. Fucking. Times.

My legal, court documentation. The ones that they wanted. And they refused every time, saying it wasn’t “sufficient”, and made sure to lovingly address me as my deadname, stressing it as many times as possible for a 2 paragraph letter. Each fucking time. I had to drop my former bank AND make a new PayPal account to have a PayPal in my actual, LEGAL name.

It disgusts me to even have to have an account with them.

PS: All 5 times, it was a different asshole sending me the rejection. It wasn’t even the same waste of air, no, at least 5 people that work customer service at PayPal are transphobic trash.

Wtf. If you’ve changed your name legally and have the court documents etc to prove it, why the fuck would they reject that. It’s your legal name. Pretty sure it’s more of a problem to have an account under a name that is legally not yours anymore. Wow. Glad you managed to change it now but man I can’t believe that happened…

What’s real fun is when they added a little hurdle after the second attempt that said I had to send (mailed) physical copies AND electronic ones to them, and when I did that, they sent me the same thing, as if someone was just throwing my stuff in the garbage as they received it.
