Louis surrounded by pride flags! (x) - 26/06/23
Hiya, just read this about Lorde & cancelling tours. Seems like itâs more common than I thought?
https://www.nme.com/news/music/lorde-addresses-economic-realities-of-touring-things-are-at-an-almost-unprecedented-level-of-difficulty-3347062
Oh, thatâs such an interesting article. Thank you so much for sending it. It does a really good job of laying out the myriad complication involved in staging a tour these days.
âBasically, for artists, promoters and crews, things are at an almost unprecedented level of difficulty,â Lorde wrote in her letter, citing factors like âthree yearsâ worth of showsâ occurring simultaneously, global economic downturn, and concertgoersâ âtotally understandable warinessâ around health risks.
She went on to acknowledge logistical factors such as widespread crew shortages, linking to an article from New Zealand news outlet Stuff about the issue. âExtremely overbooked trucks and tour buses and venues, inflated flight and accommodation costs, ongoing general COVID costs, and truly mindboggling freight costsâ were also listed as factors.
âTo freight a stage set across the world can cost up to three times the pre-pandemic price right now. I donât know shit about money, but I know enough to understand that no industry has a profit margin that high,â Lorde continued.
âTicket prices would have to increase to start accommodating even a little of this, but absolutely no one wants to charge their harried and extremely-compassionate-and-flexible audience any more fucking money.
âNearly every tour has been besieged with cancellations and postponements and promises and letdowns, and audiences have shown such understanding and such faith, that between that and the post-COVID wariness about getting out there at all, scaring people away by charging the true cost ainât an option. All we want to do is play for you.â
Lorde went on to say that sheâs lucky because profits being down across the board doesnât pose an issue for an artist of her stature, but touring has become a âdemented struggle to break even or face debtâ for artists selling less tickets than her â which in some cases, can make touring prohibitive altogether.
[âŚ]
She continued: âI wanted to put all of this in your minds to illustrate that nothingâs simple when it comes to touring at the moment, and if your faves are confusing you with their erratic moves, some of this could be playing a part.â

but it sold out didn't it?

Mhhmm, yeah they did. Letâs see what will happen.
It is a rumor that started somewhere on Twitter so itâs very likely someone somewhere tweeted âomg I dreamed Louis cancelled the Asian legâ and here we are now⌠đľâđŤ
Sometimes itâs hard to give yourself credit when youâre ambitious and youâre thinking about the next thing, really and itâs hard to kinda take everything in so for me I remember the last time thatâ'cause you know, I watched about 10 different edits and youâre watching with different eyes then but once it was all signed off yeah it was definitely just feeling really proud of where weâve come from and where weâre at now, definitely.
Louis about the creative process of the documentary at the Mexico Q&A - 20.03 (via dailytomlinson)
Iâm justâŚ
Spinning out, waiting for ya to pull me in
I can see you're lonely down there
Don't you know that I am right here?
She said, "Give me a day or two"
Wishing I could be there for ya
Listennnnn. You donât want me to do this lol. Itâs a CONSTANT theme. I could talk about this for DAYS.
All of Holding on to Heartache? âI called you twice but then regretted it, and changed my numberâŚ??!!â
This is a conversation theyâve been having since 1D days, but more pointedly now that theyâre solo. HS1? âEven my phone misses your call, by the way.â Fine Line- âitâs hard for me to come home and be so lonely.â Walls- âI cut you off because I didnât know no betterâ and basically ALL of Defenceless lol. Donât even get me started on Faith In The Future.
Hi Allie
I remember you said a couple times that the whole bbg situation could be worst or could have been worse from the beggining...and i need to know what are the worse scenarios to maybe feel a bit uplifted thank you god bless you
Hey! Well, I'm convinced that the idea from day one was for Louis to marry Briana, it's a massive relief he held that girl's hand in Glasto because god.... I don't even want to think about how things could go from there. Plus, I also always thought they really wanted to involve Harry more into the babygate mess. I absolutely believe babygate happened because of larry and the cherry on top for them would be Harry being happy for his heterosexual bandmate and congratulating him and looking happy about it. I think there are a lot of scenarios where babygate could have gone even worse, honestly, if it wasn't for Louis constantly actively fighting against it for YEARS.
And, if I'm being honest, I do think Louis was given a way out at some point, but the consequences didn't work for him. So I have no idea what options Louis was given throughout the years but it's always very important to remember how everything absolutely happened against his will since the very beginning and what we're watching now is probably the best option available for him and everyone involved.

Specifically thereâs this lady I used to know on Twitter who is a writer and extremely wealthy, her husband is something in finance and super successful and she is very giving of her wealth which is great. But she also has realized she can spend a lot of money on herself and her family since itâs such a nonissue for them and I live vicariously through her. Anyway she was in New York and she always stays in a suite at The Carlyle and The Carlyle is the kind of place that keeps their notes on you so when she arrives in her room they always know to bring her a cup of earl grey right away. Itâs fabulous without being gaudy or pretentious or thinking too much of themselves. Discreet, very high end, definitely will bring you cocktails in your room so you can drink them on the couch in your silk robe. This is what I want for them and thatâs why the festival needs to make a LOT of money. They deserve some impeccable service overlooking Central Park!
That sounds pretty great to me. I would imagine they can probably already afford that, but Iâm all for Louisâ Festival making him money!!
âItâs very, very packed in here, on the floor, I want you to take a brief moment, look at the person next to you. Weâre gonna look after each other, weâre gonna have fun but weâre gonna do it together, weâre gonna be safe, we're gonna look after each other.â
-Harry asking the crowd to look after each other.
Love On Tour 2022: BogotĂĄ. (27 November 2022)
LGBTQIA+ fans have found a comfortable home supporting Tomlinson, and this support can be seen by a fair amount of rainbow flags waving in the crowd. His first single off Faith In The Future, "Bigger Than Me," became a defacto anthem, taking on a special meaning to fans that can be felt in their response to it being performed.
sorry iâll never shut up about louis tomlinson concerts being generally recognized as pride events⌠like⌠some of u donât realize how crazy this is
âI had this vision for what the statement meant to me, and itâs kind of a feeling as opposed to for me to be able to explain to you in words, but it just neverâ the songs that we had, with the title track, just never really spoke to what that phrase meant to me, and in the end I actually prefer it now that there isnât a track there that has that name cause it kind of sets the tone for the whole album.â
-Louis on preferring not having a title track on Faith In The Future. (16 November 2022)

âI think with most songs youâre inspired by people, you know, other people, and not everything comes from personal experienceâŚsometimes songwriting feels like glorified people watching. Thereâs a million different stories that happen every day so I find a lot of inspiration through people.â

If someone told me that we will get Harry singing You're Still The One, I Will Survive, Man I Feel Like A Woman, and Hopelessly Devoted To You ALL IN THE SAME YEAR I would not belive them yet here we are. Like-
Never would I have thought SEVEN YEARS since we last saw them together, that 2022 would be one of the larriest years on record.
Hopelessly devoted to Lou
Harry dresses as Danny Zuko for Harryween, just a few days after Louis reminds us, once again, that he played Danny Zuko in a high school production.
Harry flies a rainbow flag with not one, but three Louis cross-eyed smiley faces.
Harry flies a rainbow flag with a huge Louis cross-eyed smiley face
The peace ring returns and Harry is smug about it.
Harry flies a rainbow flag with Only The Brave on it (after doing a double take and noticing it)
Harry sings Still The One at Coachella (more details on why this is a big deal here)
Harry sang I Will Survive at Coachella (369 weeks after he last sang it on stage)
Harry randomly uses an origami fortune teller as a symbol for his song Love Of My Life. It shows the colors red and black (strongly associated with Louis these days) and blue and green (Larry colors). Louisâ album, Faith in The Future, is set to release November 11th. National origami day.
Harry quotes a song from Leonard Cohenâs album, Anthem, which has the larriest cover art ever.
Louisâ music plays at Harryâs venues before the show
The fish on the Pleasing merch at Coachella have blue eyes/thin upper lip or green eyes/full lips
Harry referenced the poet Richard Lax in his You Are Home promo. Lax has collections of poems with titles like "Love Had a Compass", "The Green Island," "The Blue Boatâ, and "Circus of the Sun."
Harry doodles H L on his sneakers while on âvacationâ with his beard.
You Are Home coordinates match up to a lot of Louis and Larry locations
Harry seen at Louisâ LA show (more here and here)
Harry has a blue and green moment
The You Are Home website tweets a Ralph Waldo Emerson quote about people destined to meet, 12 years to the day after Harry and Louisâ xfactor auditions.
And just in case you think Harry is the only one obsessed with Larry (like rads do):
Louis mentions Harry being at his show
Louis acknowledges a rainbow flag with a huge picture of the Larry hug on it.
Louis wears a âblue birdâ colored shirt
Louis adds I Will Survive to his post show playlist the day before H performs that song at Coachella.
Louis plays Lego House as his exit song twice. The first time the day Harryâs House was announced and Harryâs first Coachella performance (where H also performed Still The One). Then Lego House again on the day Harryâs House was released and Harry performed his ONO in NY.
Louisâ merch colors match Harryâs merch colors
Louis wears Harryâs House colors the day of Harryâs House release
Louis changes his Twitter header to a photo with the Larry hug in the background.
Louis makes a point of going out for sushi right after Harryâs House drops, despite rolling his eyes in the past about the trendiness of sushi.
Despite his theme being red/black/white, Louis changes the arena lights to blue and green and he does it again and again and again and again
Louis acknowledges a larrie in a rainbow TPWK t shirt
Louis acknowledges a fan holding a poster of Harry with a rainbow flag (more confirmation here and here)
Louis acknowledged a fan holding a Sing Walls if Larry is Real sign ( more info here and here).
Louis winks at a fan holding Larry dolls (while singing the âcome so far from Princess Park line)
Louis give a thumbs up to a fan holding two photos of him and Harry and points to himself while singing Too Young
Louisâ venue plays Sunflower Vol 6, Kiwi, and Sweet Creature before the show.
Louis acknowledges a fanâs I Canât Change Tattoo
Louis adds Donât Stop Believing and Halo to his preshow playlist
Louis acknowledges that Prada released a collection with Larry-inspired tattoos by joining a Prada Twitter space the day of the launch.
Louis uses green lights during OTB for the first time, the night Harry launches the You Are Home campaign. Not just for a moment, but during the whole song
Iâm sure this isnât everything they did this year, but itâs a lot. And some of it may be coincidence or a reach, but all of it? I really doubt it.
This is such a good article
Oh, it really is. So many good comments from him about what theyâre going for.
[âŚ]
The tour has helped a lot because, as we go round the world, we meet media and label partners locally who engage with him and come to the show. The show always gets the same reaction: âThatâs not what I expectedâ. So having the tour before we go into the campaign for the new record has been really helpful. Itâs been a case of slowly opening the doorway to what he does.
HOW DIFFICULT HAS IT BEEN MOVING HIM INTO A WORLD WHERE HE CAN BE ON THE COVER OF AP MAGAZINE AND CURATE HIS OWN FESTIVAL?
They are things weâre massively proud of on this campaign. Getting the AP cover felt like a big moment for him, because a lot of the reaction was, âI didnât expect thatâ. But actually, when you listen to the music, it does fit perfectly with that demographic.
Iâve worked with guitar-based acts for 20 years and one of the biggest challenges you have with a British guitar-led act is travelling internationally. To be able to do that with an artist like him, who has that footprint already and can give you those opportunities globally, gives you a really exciting platform to build a campaign around.
HOW DO YOU TAKE HIS ORIGINAL FANBASE WITH YOU?
Well, the campaign always starts with the fans. Theyâre the most important part of this process. Itâs community-led and that very much comes from Louis. Every night on stage, he says, âI need you and you need meâ. And when youâre in the middle of this, you see that as well, itâs very much a two-way street. So everything we do is geared around whatâs good for the fan experience. There are only so many places we can go on a tour, but we make sure they feel included on a global level.
The livestream actually gave us a lot of confidence on pushing the capacities in some territories. It really helped with some of our promoter conversations as well. One suggested we should come and play a 3,000-cap venue. We shared the livestream data and said, âLook, we think youâre really under-estimating thisâ. We ended up selling 20,000 tickets in that city.
IS IT DIFFICULT FACING COMPARISONS TO ONE DIRECTIONâS ACHIEVEMENTS?
We donât really compare to what One Direction did. What Louis does and the music he makes is very different from any other members of the band, and indeed the bandâs music. So itâs less of a comparison and more that itâs helpful to us. We use the data from what he did in One Direction, look at the activations they did and how they ran their campaigns and use elements of that which we feel will work within his campaigns. It gives us a healthy understanding of the audience.
HOW ABOUT THE COMPARISONS WITH THE OTHER MEMBERS?
You do get it and he gets asked about it quite a lot. What Harryâs achieved is absolutely phenomenal this year, you canât deny itâs absolutely incredible. But thatâs exciting â and it shows the power of the fanbase. Thatâs one thing that Louis has and the band had â the audience is incomparable to anything that Iâve ever seen.
With every promoter weâve ever worked with, we say, âYouâre going to have to prepare for this, because the fans will be there a week before the show, we have to put on facilities and security â youâre not ready for whatâs going to happen hereâ. And every time they say, âYes we areâ and afterwards they go, âHoly shit, we didnât expect that to happenâ! Thereâs a duty of care that comes with that that we put a lot of time into.
DOES LOUIS ACTUALLY WANT THAT 1D-STYLE MANIA NOW?
Absolutely, he loves it. But heâs definitely got an executive head on him. Within One Direction, his role was not only chief songwriter, he was also the decision-maker. Thatâs something he wants to employ going forward, whether it be managing artists or from a label perspective and those are all things weâre looking at doing.
With launching the festival last year and expanding it this year, weâve seen an interesting opportunity where we could help new British acts and give them a platform they wouldnât traditionally get.
BMG HAS HAD HUGE SUCCESS WITH OLDER ARTISTS. WHAT MADE YOU SIGN WITH THEM?
BMG was an exciting choice, because Louis didnât want to do the conventional major label deal set-up that he was used to before, coming out of Syco. What took us about BMG is that itâs very much a partnership. With the way the dealâs structured, weâd go into this campaign where we have complete creative control and essentially control over the entire campaign on a global level.
They work with us as partners and with an artist like him, who is so global, having complete oversight over the whole campaign has allowed us to be quite nimble.
We can adapt the campaign on a granular level within various territories â thatâs tricky to do within major label deal constructs. Itâs the biggest thing that BMG have done, itâs their global priority and itâs been great working with them on that level.
