"The magic system is never fully explained" yeah that's how life works. Imagine having a story set in modern day America and the characters have several pages of exposition on combustion engines and telecommunication networks before we get to the plot
i think this is absolutely correct and good writing advice but also victor hugo would like to have a word with you about the parisian sewer system circa 1832
victor hugo would like to have many words with you about the parisian sewer system circa 1831
Remember.

microdosing on catharsis by watching a fictional character or persona i relate to have an emotional breakdown until my chest starts to ache from the amount i've repressed

You can still be the bigger person and also be angry at the same time, btw. The two aren't mutually exclusive. Anger is a healthy and normal part of a grief cycle. You're allowed to use "unkind" words to describe an unkind person and unkind situations.
"unbecoming" is such a great word. bro that shit was so rude you no longer Are

Some white guy: "You know it would fix the internet if we banned anonymity. Almost all toxicity comes from anonymous accounts."
Dozens of people, many of them actual experts in the field posting under their real names: "This is proven to not work and make minorities less safe, and modern radicalization online is driven mainly by people using their real name."
Like two random furries: "lol this take sucks"
Some white guy: "*screencapping the two random furries and ignores everyone else* Look at this. Slime like this is why we need this policy, and why NO ONE objects but these monsters,"
one thing that gets me about how people react to discussions/concerns about the Sims community is making tongue-in-cheek half-jokey posts like "haha wtf did I come back to [Community TV show GIF of Donald Glover walking into room on fire] such silly drama hahaha" when it's about like... bigotry that actively harms the people you (YOU) interact with in the community
again as I've said I'm a white person, and that means I always carry the capacity to be racist because white supremacy is the system of the world. but that means it's my responsibility then to actively work against that, not just when I see it but if I do it myself - and I think that's the most important thing, because you can't control the actions of any one person more than yourself.
but what I think a lot of people still can't get past is that if someone says "you were racist" they hear "you are evil/irredeemable/immoral forever" which, if you continue holding that assumption, you can never truly make any progress in genuinely supporting anti-racism as a concept. because it'll instinctively keep you on the defensive, which turns any productive conversation about addressing & stopping racism within a community into an assuage of your own feelings about ever possibly being called racist.
just listen when black people say something is racist, by considering what harmful affects the thing actually has on black people regardless of how you feel about it, and if you see some of yourself in the thing being called racist you can become a better person by being able to acknowledge & change that.
me when the fictional relationship is stable and healthy and respectful
positive connotation

one of the most frustrating subgroups here is people who have made no attempt to curate a sense of taste and get threatened by and lash out at people who have. like its not enough for them to enjoy wildly successful mainstream media, they need to be able to enjoy it without ever feeling self conscious for this. and you can make them self conscious about it just by straightforwardly talking about your own subjective preferences for less broadly appealing works. i feel bad for them because if you can only like stuff as long as majority consensus said its good youre just hardlocking yourself out of 90% of media on the planet. must suck to feel like any complete stranger with a blog has the capacity to prevent you from enjoying the kind of art you like.
