Your posts are helping me understand the meaning and significance of being fucked/penetrated/known. Thank you.
queer religious studies relevant for fucking and penetration—bersani’s is the rectum a grave; tonstad’s god and difference; srinivasan’s right to sex; freud’s three essays; rubin’s thinking sex; lorde’s uses of the erotic; menéndez-antuña’s bridging the interpretive abyss; muñoz’s cruising utopia; edelman’s no future; mackendrick’s word made skin; grosz’s “psychoanalysis and psychical topographies;” stone’s sex honor and power in the deuteronomistic history
as much as i like the sentiment of wake up dead man ending on this hopeful sentiment of this [arms open] not this [fists up] and going about the world with an open heart it also leaves jud's feelings about any strong emotion or reaction he has as violent completely unexamined. it gives you this character who's so ridden with guilt that he's ready to turn himself in because he has so little trust in himself not to turn any angry thought into a violent reality and then it puts him back into the institution where he doesn't have to poke at that again as long as he focuses on being a good priest. the ending is a good one for the gay people of chimney rock who get a woke priest but it's much more grim for jud who is still so repressed
bits that feel like established convictions a character has about himself being rotten with past and present brutality that would later be shaken through character development especially after meeting an older man whose masculinity isn't dangerous but instead all the story does is give him the soothing balm of catholic institution so he doesn't even have to think about that shit
Oh you see the world in black and white? Fuck you get dithered
me when i totally didn't waltz in here with a "be my watson" agenda

it’s true though that kids are often either like 1) not picking up on it or are just kind of like 2) okay yikes anyway! then moving on when it comes to stuff they read. like thinking back about it I was reading straight up unfiltered greek mythology when I was like nine and just accepted a lot of stuff real fast
they are just so incredibly cute together :’)
as the op of a post you should be able to mark a specific reblog as required reading before people are allowed to reply
in monster world they have berries and cream but they call it SCARIES and SCREAM. one of many interesting little cultural differences
all i'm saying is, if we all lobbied together to just get everybody to use trains, bicycles etc, and stop using cars, then the roads would be freed up for me, the gigantic robot, and city council might stop complaining about me being so fucking disruptive for once

FIRST step to enjoying any media is getting attached to the character whose suicidal tendencies are the most obvious
Any thoughts on Detective Benoit Blanc?
i love that funky little detective man and i know in my heart he's still besties with marta
i miss daniel craig. i’m pretty sure he’s fine but like yk. miss that dude
yeah
if i had a catholic homie i'd be doing this all the time

I have a Message for Horror Film Makers: If your film's opening sequence is completely silent, I will not feel a building sense of anticipation because I have already stopped the movie to check what's wrong with my speakers
you know what I’m NOT thinking about? I’m CERTAINLY not thinking about how benoit’s mother raised him in the church. and how he knew he was gay from a young age but he also knew that being gay was Wrong. and how every time he went to church he felt guilty, shameful, evil. for something he couldn’t change about himself. and that church was supposed to make you feel good but it never made him feel anything but wrong. how he never experienced the church as it was intended, how father jud would lead it. and how if maybe benoit had grown up in jud’s church, that maybe he wouldn’t still be battling the guilt. that maybe he’d have had a relationship with his mother. that maybe he could’ve been spared years and years of everlasting shame. I’m not thinking about it.
but what I’M thinking about is how benoit realized that during jud’s call with louise. her mother is being cruel to her but her mother is also dying, and louise doesn’t regularly go to wicks’ church but she’s feeling alone in all this. so jud says that he’s HERE.
he listens to her. he takes the time to pray for her. he tells her to call if she needs anything. benoit hears all of this, sitting in that office with a broken plastic jesus on the desk. in that moment, everything probably felt so unfair to him.
i wonder if all those feelings had anything to do with the argument he had with jud later. “a place to hide.” “a sense of absolution.”
