I'm going to say this preemptively because it keeps happening, when someone makes a post about racism, especially in a fanbase like MCR that already has a horrible habit of othering nonwhite fans, there's almost never a need for you to reblog and add anything to the effect of "I'm white but I care about this" "this doesn't apply to me but it's important" "I'm so pale I glow but THIS!!"

I think the impulse to do this stems from an understandable place of not wanting to seem like you're talking about issues you don't understand, and I agree that clarifying that you don't personally experience racism is often salient information if you're writing your own words on the subject, but when you're amplifying the words of someone else with a reblog and feel the need to clarify that you care about this Even Though It Doesn't Apply To You, it comes off as virtue signaling (like you need everyone to know how good of a person you are) or patronizing (like the fact that you've bestowed your white attention on the subject makes it more important). There are ways we can and should tactically use white privilege to bring increased awareness to topics/issues, but for something like a social media post, a silent reblog/share is often going to achieve that goal just fine
