I think Celine only wrote "Jenny" after hitting her head repeatedly over the truth. It took years of training and singing together, and looking after her "friend" during a pregnancy to finally see it.
Zoey loves blasting music while she does things around the house, she says it's the easiest way to concentrate on the repetitive tasks. More often than not, the girls end up singing along, some other times they end up talking about the songs in her playlists.
Mira and Zoey are surprised by the number of times Rumi comments a song was either written or produced by Celine. They're even more surprised to find out she has not only sold lyrics in Korea but the rest of the world as well. It soon became a thing where Mira or Zoey would ask Rumi whether the song they're listening to was written by Celine or not.
Mira is the first to realise a lot of the songs are love songs, and she starts making jokes and asking if Rumi remembers who inspired those songs. If she had a stepdad or stepmum around at some point. Rumi always insists they're not love songs since most songs are from back in the day when she was writing for Sunlight Sisters, ideas Celine discarded for her group but were worth selling later on.
One evening Zoey is blasting and singing "Jenny" by Studio Killers. Mira is sitting on the couch mumbling the lyrics, finally paying attention to them, and jokingly asks Rumi if Celine wrote that one too.
To what Rumi happily replies, "I think so, yeah! 😄"
Both Mira and Zoey stop what they're doing and look at Rumi.
"You're kidding, right?" Mira asks, then turns to Zoey. "Zoey, please stop shaking."
"What?"
"Celine wrote Jenny?"
"Around the time mum was pregnant and they were on hiatus living together, yes. She had a lot of free time. Why?"

Over on Jeju Celine gets a phone call.
"Did you write "Jenny"?"
Celine lifts a brow; honestly, not the strangest thing she's heard when answering a call from any of the girls. "Good morning to you too, Mira."
"Nu-uh! No cryptic non-answers or crap about how 'you don't remember;' just answer the question: Did you write Studio Killers' "Jenny"? Yes or no?"
Sighing, Celine sits back on her heels; pressing the phone against her shoulder she tugs off her gardening gloves, finger by finger. She'd done enough interviews in her life to know when a question was loaded, and she could feel this one creaking in the air above her like a snow-laden branch waiting to fall. Typically she'd deflect, sidle out of the way of the coming avalanche with a reply that answered the question without truly saying anything.
But this was Mira, who was smart; Mira, who could see around the tricks of a seasoned celebrity because she knew them all herself (Celine had made sure of it); Mira, one of her girls who she'd promised no more lying, no more secrets.
And she loved her- all her girls- enough to honor that.
"Yes."
There's sounds from the other end of the line, the muffled "eep!" of a fangirl trying desperately to keep her enthusiasm in check, and a mildly irritated "why's that a big deal? I told you she did" that could only be Rumi.
"Okay." There was a building glee in Mira's tone that put Celine on edge. "Follow up question:"
creeeeeeeak went the invisibly laden branch.
"Did you write it about Rumi's mom?"
No avalanche could have hit harder.
Mira's question landed in the air with a hearty fwoomp!, leaving Celine as stunned as if she really had been the victim of the spring thaw and found herself buried in wet slushy snow. From the phone, she could hear Rumi squawk, then silence.
They were waiting for her answer.
And oh, did she have an answer.
She had hoped no one would ever ask that...
But now Mira- smart, clever, merciless Mira- had and was awaiting an answer.
One Celine had honor-bound herself to give.
And she would. But first-
"Am I on speaker phone?"
(some things were easier to say when your daughter-in-all-but-name wasn't listening)
Unfortunately, she'd media trained her girls too well and her request- and more importantly the reason behind it- was as transparent as glass. She yanked the phone away from her ear as it erupted with Mira's bark of laughter, Zoey screaming about how "she knew it" and "the fics were right!!!" and Rumi alternating between cries of "Celine!!!" and the agonized groans of the dying. Or, more accurately, someone who just learned her dead-mother had been...desired by the best-friend-who-raised-her-daughter, in the most romantic sense of the word.
She was very glad she wasn't at the Penthouse right now; her cheeks were flaming.
Just then music started to filter through the speakers.
"I wanna ruin our friendship
We should be lovers instead"
"Oh no!" Rumi's voice rose over the unmistakable lyrics of "Jenny." "Zoey! Turn that off!"
"What's wrong, Ru?" Mira's voice was shaking with barely-contained amusement. "It's a good song! That happens to be Celine saying how she looked at your mom and wanted to-"
There was the distinct clattering of a scuffle and a phone being dropped, and Celine decided that was her involvement in the conversation was over.
The peace of the garden returned as she hung up, and Celine sat for a long moment, letting it settle around her before she went back to her weeding. Before she did, though, she opened her phone's music app, pulled up a song, and pressed 'play.'
She sat back, shut her eyes, and the garden melted away. She was back on the ugly ochre carpet of the den before she finally scraped together the wons for a tasteful replacement, back against the sofa. She could hear Miyeong's even breaths as she dozed behind her- she'd been tired a lot, her second trimester-, smell the jasmine and hibiscus of her favorite shampoo, and see the trace of a smile still on her lips from when Celine had jokingly (or, it was a joke to one of them) kissed her temple as she tucked her in.
(feel the way she'd had to restrain herself to keep the kiss modestly near her hairline)
She still remembered the sound of the pen moving across the page, and the longing that burned through the ink.

Celine felt terribly guilty that Rumi had lost so much of her humanity because of her. To help her accept the changes even a little, she got a tattoo very similar to the implant on Rumi’s back (not identical—she might have stolen secret technology, but she had still signed a mountain of NDAs she fully intended to honor; she wasn’t some petty criminal, after all).
There were many tears of emotion and one overheating incident.
What if Rumi never tells the girls about her confrontation with Celine?
After the new Honmoon is created, Celine sends the girls messages asking both of them how they are and congratulating them on their success. But Celine, being Celine, tries to hide how worried she truly is. Her messages come across as business-like, just like she usually writes. Both Zoey and Mira text back. Even if they feel like Celine owes them an explanation about Rumi's patterns, they are so happy about beating Gwi-ma that they can't hide their excitement. They also want to talk with Rumi before they even dare complaining to Celine about not letting them know about Rumi's heritage.
Celine does call Rumi until she picks up and they talk briefly. Rumi asks Celine to give her some time and space, and she does. Celine respects Rumi's request, even though she texts her from time to time just to make sure she's okay.
Huntrix don't do much besides staying at home enjoying their couch and going to the bathhouse during their hiatus, so Zoey and Mira don't find it strange they don't see Celine during those three months. They both called the woman at some point and talked for a while about what happened, but the old woman didn't request meeting them and they didn't either.
However, as time goes by, and they go back to their routine, they start noticing Celine's absence. It's not usual to run into her ever since she stepped down from her position at the label, but she'd stop by at penthouse from time to time. Or Rumi would always try to find the opportunity to meet her at least once a month if she was in Seoul. They don't see her, though she calls Mira or Zoey a couple of times, and so they think things must be okay.
Mira's the first to notice she hasn't called Rumi in a very long time, though —or so she suspects—, and Rumi hasn't really been herself either. She's more open with them and she seems more at ease now that she isn't hiding a part of her, but Mira realises there's always this far away look on her face when she thinks she's alone. And more than once she's noticed Rumi following Zoey or Bobby with her gaze when they're in a phone call with Celine.
She tries to ask if things are okay, and Rumi insists she is. Blaming her odd behaviour to the Comeback plans, and her being a bit nervous about fans reception of her "skin condition" once they start doing promos once again.
Months go by, and eventually Celine's absence slips their mind as they become more and more busy with their Comeback album. It's only when the "Sunlight Sisters' 30th anniversary programme" and "Kang Celine" start trending that they realise two things: Rumi didn't mention the anniversary programme —she must have known, right?— and Celine is trending for breaking down on camera during the programme when asked about Rumi.
Moms do weird things that are meant to enable their kids being stupid sometimes. Like carrying spare clothes in a bag, carrying tylenol around, baby wipes way past the diaper stage etc.
Mira and Zoey finding out post new Honmoon that Celine actually favors short sleeves, tank tops and the like. It's just well for a decade itw as easier to get Rumi to put on one of Celine's cardigans than it was to get her into her own long sleeve shirts and then it was a back up just in case.
Mira only a little sarcastic when she notices the change in outfit styles saying that it seems like Celine and Rumi both found a seam ripper and decided sleeves were illegal.
The idea of her wearing cardigans or jackets just as a backup, in case something happened and Rumi suddenly needed extra long sleeves. 😭
Celine standing up during a meeting, walking the room, taking off her blazer and gently putting it on Rumi's shoulders, not once stopping what she's saying. The action is unconscious at this point, Rumi came back from a hunt just in time for the meeting, and Celine had noticed her torn sleeve.

This whole time, my preferred story if things HAD to go the way of Celine actually being responsible for Miyeong’s death, I wanted it to go more or less like this (and I am SO happy how close I got)
They may choose to delve into this in the sequel, and it could be a good source of conflict. To have Celine, who fucked up. Like really fucked up. But her love for Rumi is undeniable, even with her reservations about the patterns. (And god, Rumi fully demoned-out taking swings at Celine and Celine not fighting back despite the threat because the threat is RUMI. I need that scene properly animated. Like NOW)
Okay... after watching the storyboard an unhealthy amount of times, I've got to admit that I like canon version better, but there's something I wished they'd have kept.
In the movie Celine says, "Everything I was taught told me you were wrong". I've always had mixed feelings about this quote. It's powerful and conveys Celine's inner struggle about accepting Rumi, though I always felt like something was missing.
This storyboard gives us a different version of this quote, and it's so much better that I hate it isn't canon. "Everything I've been taught told me what your mother did was wrong, but what came from it was you and you were so... right."
I understand that during the movie, Rumi and Celine aren't exactly discussing Miyeong's actions, so using it wouldn't really work. But I wish they would've used it. It cements what I've been wanting to believe ever since I watched this movie: Celine loved Rumi so deeply that she did everything she did out of fear and mixed feelings. She was afraid of losing Rumi, afraid of her being hurt by other hunters, afraid of her demon side taking over... She was so afraid she ended up doing the only thing she could, telling Rumi to hide the side that put her at risk and she couldn't really accept.
Sometime early on in Sunlight Entertainment’s existence:
Executive at Sunlight Entertainment: Hello Kang Sajang-nim! Did you have a good weekend?
Celine: Oh yes, it was quite peaceful. Rumi and I spent a day in the garden, then she had a long nap in the sun while I got some reading done.
Executive: Oh that’s nice! Good weekend with Rumi!
Executive, turning to his coworkers after Celine leaves: Ok Rumi… Is that Celine’s daughter or her cat?
Coworkers: *turn and look at each other with uncertainty*
Celine’s secretary: Wait no one knows?
Head of Marketing: I mean…she’s notoriously private.
Secretary: I think Rumi is her daughter. Spent the day gardening? You do that with kids.
Accountant: What if it’s an outdoor cat?
Marketing: Fell asleep in the sun? That’s a cat.
Assistant: Kids do that all the time. Mine did that just the other day.
Executive: Ok I guess we’re doing this. Time to play Cat or Daughter.
*Celine walks back in*
Executive: Hey Kang Sajang-nim, I was just wondering: what do you do with Rumi in the garden?
Celine: Oh not much. Rumi usually gets distracted by catching butterflies while I do most of the work.
Secretary: What’s Rumi’s favourite food again?
Celine: Kimbap, especially the kind with tuna.
Marketing: And how old is Rumi?
Celine: Six. Her energy’s finally waning a little but she still finds new ways to get into mischief. The other day she got stuck in a tree.
Assistant: Chasing a bird?
Celine: No I had left the back door open for a moment and she bolted. Started climbing immediately. Although once she realized her mistake she cried and cried until I climbed up there myself to get her down.
Executive: Ok this is getting us nowhere. Is Rumi your daughter or your cat?
Celine, offended: How could you ask me that? *storms off*

confession. The very first time I watched kpdh and heard them say the name Celine I thought they were talking about Celine dion. This was quickly clarified but I sometimes think again about celine dion just. Being in the movie
Celine keeping tabs on Mira, trying to figure out how to recruit her, then one day celine spots her in a supermarket or smth and falls to the floor going "owww owww someone help someone with medical knowledge please help oh my goddd" and Mira rushes over like "oh shit, what's going on??? I'm just a student right now but I can look at-" and then Celine grabs her arm and pulls her down and whispers ominously into her ear "QUIT YOUR SCHOOL, JOIN MY GIRL GROUP"
