The test. How Twilight ended up with Valen.
Twilight was just a filly herself when she took him in. Yet another responsibility placed on such little hooves.
SURPRISE COMIC!! I have quite a bit more explaining to do about what led up to the rainboom but hereβs this for now! More Twi stuff because I simply cannot help myself. Also an excuse to draw little fat baby dragon!!

I was a little inspired by malfunction AU by yummycrummy
I had a little idea on what would happen if Ragatha abstracts. And I remember that Caine would abstracting after Kinger, but I think it can be applied to Ragatha too,
and I was intrigued by this post that in general, Bubble could remove the abstraction (sorry, if misunderstood it). But don't worry, after that Caine attacked Bubble in his monster form (I'm not quite able to draw his monster form, so believe me on the word, he would do it :D)
Summary: Caine has been feeling down since the take over from Bubble in the digital circus. The torment he has caused the ringleader has been unbearable. Ragatha, sensing the sadness plaguing him, seeks to bring him comfort.
Authorβs Note: TW for some torture from heat. I was inspired by @yummycrummyβs AU Malfunction to write an angst and comfort one-shot for it. The AU is so good! I highly recommend checking it out! I hope all of you enjoy this!
Caine was exhausted. He was tired of seeing the torture Bubble inflicted on him. He almost wished he could go blind. If he did, he wouldnβt have to endure the painful visions anymore. However, he knew that wouldnβt be possible. He would gain it back just for him to see his torment again and again. Never ending misery. Thatβs where he was at.
He had been sitting outside on the grass. The sadness in his digital body clung to him like leeches sucking out the joy he once held onto. What was left in its place was agony. He moved his denture head down, putting his hands on his top denture. He shielded his eyes behind his teeth.
βCaine?β a sweet, comforting voice called out.
The ringmaster perked up, moving his hands down and opening his dentures to look around, βRagatha?β
The voice in question appeared in the form of a doll with red hair and a purple dress with patches on them, βCaine! There you are!β She went to sit down next to him.
βIβm glad to see you. How are youβ¦holding up?β She asked him.
He looked at her with worried eyes, βIβmβ¦β He moved his down and away from her.
She reached over to grab his shoulder while using her other hand to gently grab his lower denture, turning him to face her. Her left eye showed concern and sorrow for him and her right, blue button eye shined in the same emotions.
Caine sighed, βHe doesnβt quitβ¦Itβs the same thing every day. My dad is not always doing well either. I justβ¦β His blue and green eyes felt the familiar burning sensation of tears wanting to release.
βCaineβ¦β Ragatha removed her hands from him to wrap her arms around him, βI know this is hard, but weβll make it. Your dad is still trying to find a way for us to leave. We have to hold onto that hope.β She tightened her hold on him. Some tears fell from her eye, gently soaking the ringmasterβs red coat.
He clung to her as he let his tears fall freely. The anguish was too much to bear. The fun adventures were nothing more than chaos for Bubble to enjoy. Bubble, who was thought to be a friend, was nothing more than a tormentor. He wondered if Jax would become an assistant for the master of terror given some of the recent encounters theyβve had. His body shook violently from his cries.
Ragatha ran her hands up and down on his back, trying to give soothing motions.
Caineβs body began to calm down. He focused on regulating his breathing as his grip on the doll loosened ever so slightly.
βWeβll be okay. Your dad is gonna get us out of here. In the meantime, we have other moments we can cherish,β Ragatha spoke softly. She sniffled.
Caine sniffled right after her, βI cherish you.β His dentures had light pinks lines across them.
She giggled, βI cherish you too.β
βAw! Isnβt that so sweet? It makes me want to puke!β A certain, unpleasant voice spoke, laughing.
Ragatha and Caine let go of each other to look at Bubble.
βYou know, for someone who is so desperate to be out of my presence, you have a funny way of always appearing right when I look for you. Itβs as if deep down, you secretly enjoy me finding you.βHe chuckled.
Caine and Ragatha both stood up.
Caine tried to display a brave front, glaring at him, βWhat do you want now?β
βOh ho! Trying to act tough and mighty for your lady? Well, first things firstβ¦β He grabbed Caine by his dentures, opening his mouth wide.
The ringmasterβs eyes watered and filled with horror.
βBubble! Stop!β Ragatha cried out.
He laughed once more, βNah, I donβt think I will.β His grip tightened on Caineβs dentures. The ringmaster cried out in pain.
Ragatha glared at Bubble and marched up to him, βIf you have to torment someone then take me.β
Caineβs body shook and his pupils shrank in fear. He couldnβt let his beloved take the pain for him.
Bubble burst out in laughter, βI have a better idea!β He moved one of his hands to wrap around Caineβs waist and used his other hand to grab Ragatha. She yelped at being handled so roughly. Bubble made them disappear in a swirl.
The three of them reappeared at the lake. The sun shone extra brightly.
βHello my love! Need me to give a sunburn to those pests?!β the sun asked excitedly.
βYes I do.β Bubble dropped Caine and Ragatha roughly onto the sand.
The lovers immediately stood up, dancing around. The sand was intensely hot.
βC-Caine! Ow!β Ragatha tried speaking. βWeβll be okay! Oh!β
Caine felt his whole body flare up from the sand and the sunβs rays. He looked at her with pleading eyes.
βPrepare for a sunburn!β Sun shouted. She readied her rays on them and they slightly sizzled with extra heat.
Caine and Ragatha yelped from the rays hitting their bodies harshly. They both tried to go toward the water.
Bubble summoned a see through wall, blocking the lake from them, βNah uh. You have to finish entertaining us.β He then snapped his fingers to bring out a lounge chair, sitting contently next to Sun, reclining back.
βR-Ragatha!β Caine cried out. His eyes were letting out waterfalls with how much he was crying from the pain.
She looked at him with a tear stained face. Her left eye was rapidly releasing water, βCaine!β
Bubble laughed manically at their distress, βThis is too good!β
Sun giggled along with him, βI love you so much Bubble!β
βI love you my flaming gal!β
Caine and Ragatha wouldβve vomited from the moment if they werenβt occupied with the heat being seared into their bodies.
βAlright! Thatβs enough!β A new voice entered the scene.
βWell, well. If it isnβt, big bad Grant coming to the rescue once again,β Bubble spoke with a yawn.
βYou bet I-Yeow!β Grant had been on the grass and then touched the sand with his king, chess piece body. βTake me in their place!β His blue eyes watered from the pain.
βHmmβ¦β Bubble put his hand to his chin, pondering about that. βWhy not?β He snapped his fingers, putting Caine and Ragatha back on the grass.
Caine immediately made a run toward the chess piece only for the same wall in front of the lake to appear before him once again.
βNope! Your dad has to suffer now!β Bubble laughed evilly.
Caine banged on the wall, βDad!β He tried to fly up to go over the wall and it moved along with him. He cried out in anger.
βTake Caine and get out of here!β Kinger yelled at the doll.
Ragatha looked up at the red coated ringmaster, βCaine! Cβmon! Please!β
The denture head looked at her and then flew down to be beside her.
βKinger! Thank you!β Ragatha said. She grabbed Caine by his shoulders and walked, moving him along with her.
βDad,β Caine sobbed and sniffled.
Ragatha hurried them along, sniffling along with him.
The doll and ringleader made it back inside the tent, specifically in the cafe. Ragatha figured this would be a good spot for now. Caine had been quiet for the entire walk. The purple dressed doll had him sitting in one of the big red armchairs. There was just enough room for her to sit with him. It wasnβt the most spacious of spots, but she didnβt wish to be too far away from him.
βHeβll be okay,β she tried reassuring him again.
He looked at her with tired and anxious eyes. He sighed heavily, βI hope soβ¦β
She grabbed his hand and held it tightly. He squeezed her hand back. She leaned against him and he reciprocated. Her head rested on top of his denture head. She moved her thumb up and down on his hand.
βRagatha? Do you think Iβm weak?β Caine asked with sorrow.
She perked her head up with a saddened expression, βOf course not. Why are you asking that?β
βBecause my dad is always having to jump in to help me out. It makes me feel like Iβm not good enough. Iβm so weak.β He closed his dentures, shielding his eyes.
βOh Caine. Youβre good enough. Youβre not weak. Sometimes, extra help is needed in certain situations and thatβs okay.β She moved her free hand to gently cup his lower denture.
He opened his mouth a little bit to peek at her. She smiled reassuringly at him.
βYour dad loves you and he is willing to do anything to protect his son. Donβt see his help as a burden. Itβs not. Not a lot of people have a dad like yours,β she said happily.
βThatβs true, but I stillβ¦β He moved his eyes away from her.
βItβs not always easy to be brave, but you try. Just because there are moments that need an extra hand or two to help you out at times, doesnβt mean that youβre any less brave. It doesnβt make you weak,β she reaffirmed.
He moved his gaze back to her.
She awkwardly chuckled, βSorry. That sounded awfully cheesy. Didnβt it?β
He chuckled, βMaybe a little.β
She laughed, βWell, regardless, I hope it helps you feel better Caine.β She smiled at him, βYour dad will be fine. He may have those less lucid moments, but heβll be okay. He always pulls through.β
He nodded, βYeah, Iβ¦I think he will be too.β He suddenly felt shyness enter his system, βYouβre so good to me.β His lower denture had some light pink across his teeth.
Her smile grew more, some redness appearing on her face, βWell, you deserve having someone who is good to you.β
βSo do you my dear.β He bashfully wrapped his arm around her waist.
Her blush intensified along with his. They stared into each otherβs eyes and he closed his dentures again to gently kiss her. She kissed him back. She then rested her forehead against his top denture.
βI love you,β she said quietly.
βI love you too,β he spoke and kissed her again on her cheek.
She giggled, βWould you like to have a milkshake?β
βYes! That would be good!β He didnβt remember when he last had one of those.
βOkay, I can make one for us. What flavor?β
βHmmβ¦Chocolate?β
βSounds good to me!β She pecked him on his lower denture where his cheek would be before getting up from the chair.
Caine watched her make the milkshake with lovestruck eyes.
βOh good! There you two are!β Kinger exclaimed.
The two turned around with surprised expressions.
βD-Dad! Youβre okay!β Caine went over to give him a big hug.
Kinger made a startled sound, but happily returned the hug.
Ragatha stopped making the milkshake to go over to the father and son, βIβm glad youβre alright.β
His eyes smiled at her, βIβm happy the two of you are okay. Oh! Are you having a date?β
βUh, sort of,β she answered.
βWell, Iβll leave you two to it!β He let go of Caine.
βW-Wait! Dad!β Caine said with some desperation.
Kinger turned around, βYes Son?β
βThank you for your help.β He smiled at him.
βAnything for you, my son. I love you.β
βLove you Dad.β
βNow, have fun lovebirds!β He playfully waved his white gloved hand as he started moving away from them.
Ragatha and Caineβs faces were incredibly flushed. Dark red was on the dollβs face while dark pink was on the ringmasterβs face.
βW-Well, let me finish that shake!β The purple dressed doll went back over to the counter to continue making the chocolate goodness.
Caine sat back down in the red armchair, patiently waiting for his beloved to finish.
She added the last touch to the milkshake, whip cream. She then inserted two, red and white striped straws, βAll done! Cβmon over here.β She sat down in a white chair that faced the counter. She patted the free one next to her.
He got up and went to join her, bashfully sitting next to her.
She moved the milkshake to the middle of them both and grabbed the straw nearest to her, βWe havenβt done this yet. I thought it would be nice to share a milkshake together.β
He smiled at her and grabbed the other straw, βIt is a nice idea.β
She smiled and sipped some of the milkshake, βThat is good! What do you think?β
He sipped some of it, βYou made it perfectly, darling.β
The two continued sipping on the milkshake while making lovey, dovey gazes at one another. Both enjoyed this sweet, blissful moment immensely.

Talking with my friend @yummycrummy and realized how PERFECT the scene from the TADC final, where Jax chokes out pomni, was for their Caine and Bubble.
SO WE DID A LIL COLLAABBBB aAND IT WAS SO COOL AND SO AWESOME AND THEIR PART IS PHENOMENAL TEEHEEE!!
Freaking love doing these collabs and art for this au it's so cooll
And! We need cashiers. And convenience stores. And I think it's kind of broken that society says people who want to do stuff like that have "low" ambition (not you OP, I get you're using it illustratively because that's what society labels said jobs) and don't deserve to live at the same standard as people with "high" ambitions.
If we need someone to do a job, that job is a role in the community and deserves not just a salary but cultural respect for the role.
"high" ambition jobs are all jobs that involve domineering and controlling others. "low" ambition jobs are all jobs that involve service to others. Have you noticed? Because I have noticed.
But serving others is actually more needed than controlling them.

Only as of 1999. The original, unedited version of this cartoon, by Clay Butler, was published in 1996, and looks like this:
Someone went to a lot of effort to not only remove the cartoonist's credits, but also make the joke weaker. In the original, the graffiti is a lone and comparatively small, unremarkable tag in single-line monochrome. It contrasts with the billboards and signs by being unobtrusive, making it all the more absurd that the pig notices it with such vitriol. The edited version loses the impact by making it stand out in bright color and cover the whole of the wall.
I'm going to push back -not on not crediting the original, because you should cute your sources- but on the analysis.
The newer work changes the message fundamentally.
In the original the graffiti blends in. That is the point. It is no more or less 'noise' than all the ads around it.
In the newer work the graffiti *does* stand out. It is color among a sea of monochrome. It is light and life and energy in a sea of corporate monotony. It is creativity and expression along a sea of endless corporate slog. The graffiti does not blend in with the surroundings, it *improves* them. Yet, it is still mindlessly derided.
I think that distinction is both more powerful and more important in the present day.
