How do you manage to be positive about the team if it doesn't seem like it benefits Charles at all? like yay ferrari is competent. Charles hasn't made a point in the last two races and it's currently so far behind the WDC it's a joke.
for me, spain 26 is proof that ferrari is making significant positive strides mechanically, logistically, and operationally.
since 2022, they’ve let key personnel go, brought in fresh blood, and also developed/promoted homegrown talent, and i believe that we’re starting to see the return on investment now. lewis also brought key info, advice, and staff to ferrari that has also helped them develop as a team.
as a long term fan ferrari anon, there were some really dark periods from where things looked BLEAK. to me, this isn’t one of those periods.
re: none of this benefiting charles… this is a can of worms that i don’t want to fully open today but there’s obviously a lot of luck involved with f1 compared to other sports, particularly with safety car timing and mechanical failures. sometimes that’s beautiful, sometimes it makes me want to start biting things, and it’s directly related to how well it benefits my driver.
do i believe charles’ strat pre-dnf left something to be desired? absolutely. but also the fact of the matter is that the driver who qualifies better tends to get the preferable strategy, and strategy from a p2 start is often more straightforward than p10, esp in two-stop races and when you're out of position. yes this fuckin sucked as a charles fan this weekend but we learn from it and we move.
i believe in charles and this team, and now that we know that 1) ferrari has a car that can win races, on a track like barcelona with both straights/blend of corner types, 2) ferrari can put together a complete race weekend, including a race-winning strat and balancing quali pace vs race pace, 3) and merc component unreliability is no joke, i have a lot more hope. charles has just extended his contract again, so ig for me it’s about looking at the bigger picture rather than this particular stretch of races.
at the end of the day, i love charles, i love my team, and i live for the hope of it all. the season is long and austria is next, which i rank as one of charles’ best tracks so im ready for a cl16 masterclass.
